  1. The thirteen man staff is here to stay. I think it's rare that RRR ever uses less than five pitchers in a game, even when it appears to me he only needs to use 2-3 in many cases. It sure seems like 5-6 pitchers are used most games, even when our starters are pitching well.
  2. WTP, I was just about to post basically the same thing until I read your post. It had not been mentioned in the others. Gamel should be given the first base job if he performs as we expect at AAA this year. I'll be really ticked if we throw money at a first baseman and watch either of Greinke or Marcum walk a year later.
  3. How about talking about the game instead of who should be hitting where and how high of an OBP will Lucroy have. People like myself come to these threads certain days to see how the game has played out and get reactions about different points of the game.
  4. For Charter customers in Madison, the game is on on the main MLB network channel even though it says that it isn't!!!!
  5. This is a good point. I believe Nieves signed a one year deal. If George improves his defense slightly and hits in AAA the rest of the year, I see no reason why we can't let Nieves walk and go with Kottaras next year as the backup.
  6. Nice to have Kottaras clear. He'll be needed at some point, I'm sure.
  7. I long for the days of Calex Crabbe.
  8. The Roenicke connection and our lack of organization depth at SS has to mean we'll get in the mix for him, doesn't it?
  9. He's still young, was a top prospect, and Roenicke is very familiar with him. We also have a real need for a SS, especially at AAA. He has been horrendous in the majors however. I still have to believe we'll try and clear a spot to add him (or maybe trade one of our backup catchers to the Angels for him). Thoughts?
  10. Well, if we are really using three relievers when we essentially only needed to use one, I guess our bullpen must not have been in very bad shape at all.
  11. I think this is Counsell's last year. If Farris proves he can maybe handle some short, I could see Yubet's option being picked up and Farris being groomed to either platoon/back him up for a year with an eye toward replacing him in 2013 on the major league roster next year. Folks won't enjoy this post.
  12. I don't think anyone is against dealing Carlos Gomez. If the right deal comes along, sure. Nobody wants McClouth though. If you deal with the Braves, go and get Pastornicky and bring up Boggs to platoon with or backup Morgan.
  13. I think Yuni's must've shot and killed a lot pf people's mothers on this board.
  14. Tyler Pastornicky for Carlos Gomez = done deal!
  15. Many of the names being bandied about since YuBet has been obtained (O Cabrera, Wilson, Scutaro, etc) are not guys I see us going after. We will stick with YuBet or get someone at the deadline that is more of a name and obvious upgrade imho. I don't think we go after another lesser SS......we'll just stick with what we have.
  16. We know Kotsay is here to stay this year and we have Morgan in reserve as well. I do think Almonte goes down when Hart is brought back. At that point, if one of our five OF'ers get hurt, we'd probably give Boggs the shot at that point.
  17. I don't think we've done one deal with Seattle since Jack Z has been there. Nothing of consequence anyway. I am not sure we are crazy about trading with Seattle, or vice versa, even though many of us thought there naturally would be a couple of deals of consequence by now.
  18. Are Brian and Bill saying Maholm correct? It looks like it almost has to be pronounced "Muh-Hahlm" with two syllables. Brian and Bill are calling him "Muh-hall-lum" with three syllables. Anyone know which is correct?
  19. Brad Fischer was a great guy and a local guy. If not the 3B coach, I wish he'd have had a longer chance to stay in Wisconsin.
  20. I'm waiting for the Yuni haters to invent a metric formula that eliminates that run from Yuni's cumulative totals this season.
  21. I brought up two Guthrie to Mil for Hardy to Bal threads before we dealt him for Gomez. I still think we could have made that trade happen (ironic Baltimore now has both).
  22. I live in Madison and have charter. Today's game was on tv here but tomorrow's (or maybe it's Thursday's) isn't. Grasping at straws, but any chance tomorrow's (or Thursday's) game will be on for me now since today's is cancelled or can't they do that?
  23. Wplf was not paid to be a 3/4. He was paid to be a two. You can say that was dumb, but no way doug pays Wolf ten million a year if he has the first three spots pegged down. Probably even just the first two spots pegged down.
  24. Our stale piece of bread we can at least eat and survive on. The Hardy piece of bread is broken into too many crumbs to even feed us.
  25. Might make sense to do a Hawkins for Rivera deal straight up if the salaries align like I am guessing they might. But I'd actually prefer Hawkins. I'm just thinking out loud since I know we'll have tough bullpen decisions forthcoming.
