  1. Yeah, I think Marcum this coming off-season may be like Prince this previous off-season. With only one year left, I don't think we are going to get teams offering near enough to make it worth trading him.
  2. I just don't see Boras or KROD as the type to do a handshake deal where they can't under any circumstances accept arby. If it's in their best interests, I am positive they'd want that option.
  3. I am hesitant on this, but I think given 500+ at bats for both, Green ends next season with a higher OPS and OBP than Gamel. That will maybe be a good offseason prediction thread.
  4. Heyward was a no brainer for us to pick over LaPorta. I really thought we were going to select him. Not sure what kept us from it during the draft that year. I betya there was a good contingent of the braintrust begging for Heyward over LaPorta.
  5. Blanks and Bartlett might be a good duo to go after. Maybe for Gindl and McGehee.
  6. Gindl < Green. I have no problem trading Gindl for the right piece. I don't want to trade Green for what we'd get for him.
  7. How about going after Jimmy Rollins with a four year deal? Depending on some things, we might be able to afford Rollins, Greinke AND Marcum (if we go with youngsters like Green and Gamel and don't spend a ton on the bullpen).
  8. Rotoworld is a good site but not always the best, but I recall their comment on Barmes being something along the lines of "he's probably played well enough to earn another year in the majors". Again, not the bible of baseball websites but they don't seem to think he's a guy that's looking at a multi-year, multi-miillion dollar deal.
  9. Barmes should be able to be had for a two year deal. I agree on going with Gamel. If he stinks up the joint the first 2-3 months, there's always trade bait out there during the season (think Derrick Lee and Chris Davis this year).
  10. I wouldn't mind bringing Paul Janish in if this exercise is more or less throwing excraments at the wall to find something sticky.
  11. How about Matt LaPorta in a full circle move? Might be a good buy low opportunity, the organization likely still likes him, and he might do well in a switch to the NL.
  12. What about Marcum to Boston for Jed Lowrie, Lars Anderson, and a top two pitching prospect?
  13. Likely not Mat, but that poster sure is on the inside with Mat.
  14. People should not be giving the Mets the OK on this deal because of "the situation they were in" with Krod. There were still many other teams that would have loved to have had KROD. I highly doubt our offer kept 31 other teams from wanting to add KROD and his impending type A status.
  15. If the Mets were taking a wait and see approach based on how the guys from the list did up until September 1st, I am not sure McClendon will be the guy. I have not studied his stats real hard but get the feeling he hasn't performed extremely well at AAA since the trade was made.
  16. I hope Wolf doesn't implode the rest of the year. I'd feel extremely comfortable taking the "risk" of going with the winner of Fiers/Peralta in spring training to join the rotation.
  17. Maldanado deserves a big boost in the power 50. Is there any reason people were/are higher on Lucroy than Maldanado. I like Lucroy a lot, just sayin...
  18. JB, I tend to agree with you. Sort of like the Greinke speculation a year ago when we all thought it was a pipedream. I'd actually be pretty disappointed if we could sign Reyes for something like 6/90 and didn't do it. Give Reyes that contract and use Gamel and Green at first and third and I think we can resign both Greinke and Marcum.
  19. Roenicke's handling of Green so far is precisely the reason I think I was so unexcited when I saw he got called up.
  20. Let's state the goal most of us have... 1) Resign Fielder, Greinke, Marcum If we can trade Wolf and Hart for salary relief and prospects of some degree, is this realistic at all?
  21. A more outside the box idea would be trading Gallardo if we liked/could get a package similar to what Colorado got for Jiminez.
  22. Im not saying we'll have Gomez/Morgan for 4-5 years, but if we have them together for two more and the better one for three more, it probably makes sense to trade Schaefer when his value is highest. That will be up to Doug to determine if his value will be highest this offseason.
  23. If Reyes signs something like 6/105, and Pujols resigns somewhat reasonably in STL, I wonder if Fielder's price becomes relatively rationale (say 6/125.
  24. Doesn't Valbuena not hit at all? I was one of the few it seemed that wasn't thrilled to add a Brendan Ryan/Clint Barmes type, and I am not sure if Valbuena will hit better than them. I did read, probably on MLBTR, that the M's will be looking to improve at 3B and the worry is that there is not much that will be out there. So with that said, McGehee could be a match for them. I'd rather go after bullpen help or a prospect than Brendan Ryan in a swap with them though.
  25. Well, I'll just say this is a tough case and add that I am higher on Desmond urning it around than some. I'll just add that I predict Schaefer will be dealt over the offseason to improve the major league roster. Just a prediction with no inside knowledge.
