  1. Does anyone have an idea of what channel the 630 presser will be on?
  2. How can it be a good thing to give up a great talent and other good prospects when the end result is not making the playoffs. (not saying we don't still make it)
  3. The guy is going to be a regular all-star and for my money will be a better 1B man (if they play him there) than Prince Fielder. I guess it's cool to say CC pitched in a brewer uniform and he surely has been dominant, but if we don't make the playoffs we lose BIG TIME on this trade. Any chance we can get trade backs?
  4. I'd just use Crabbe and Rottino maybe if they have good springs.
  5. Sadly, or not sadly depending on your opinion, Yost would not even have an inkling to ever consider Cameron in the leadoff role. It is so far from a possibility to him that I am certain it is not any type of option.
  6. Casper, do you mean from someone in the know? As much as I'd hate selling low on Weeks, I'd be ecstatic if A) Hardy were willing to move to 2nd and B) To get Escobar in at SS in what should be another youth movement (though still competitive and potentially playoff bound) type season.
  7. Just some basic questions I have for you guys if you'd give me a quick line of thought on these questions? 1) Are you impressed with Nelson enough to give him a spot even if Fielder is on the team next year? Are you willing to give him a shot at 1B for a year if Fielder were dealt? 2) Has Gwynn showed you enough to want him on next year's team as a backup? Does he offer us enough to want him a part of our 25 man roster? 3) What do you think of the very limited you've seen of Escobar? 4) Is the lack of anything decent at 3B making you more willing to give Gamel a fair shot at winning the 3B job in spring training? 5) How do you feel on Mitch Stetter? Are you any less confident in him than most of our other relievers? Thanks for your thoughts on these questions!
  8. Isn't Lamb gawdawful in the field? I seem to remember, maybe the first year of Brewerfan, that we needed a 3Bman and talked about him and how he could hit enough to start at third for us but was horrible in the field. A lot can change in several years...
  9. I agree with those willing to give Gamel a shot. The play at 3B has been atrocious. Too bad we have that "veteran leadership" and "gritty" and "experienced" choices at 3B that would make such an idea ludicrous to Yost.
  10. If Rivera is not even allowed to catch afternoon Sunday games, and he's out of the lineup today, I'd risk it and at least allow the guy to pinch hit so he can at least make an appearance once a week.
  11. It seems like so much less than a 1% chance that Kendall (or most any player for that matter) would get hurt from the 7th inning on. When we are struggling so much to find PT for Rivera and when he's proven this year to be hitting very well and even being clutch, I would think this would be a "gamble" we should be doing sometimes. Do you agree with Ned and "conventional wisdom" that it is too risky or do you agree with me (that it's a great opportunity to get Rivera in the game sometimes and get him a little bit of action so he feels like he's contributing more)?
  12. Clancy, I respect your opinion as much as anyone on these boards, but do you really see/want Rottino having even a platoon role on next year's team? I could maybe see him as a bench guy getting up to 200 AB's, but not the 300-400 he would get in a platoon.
  13. So what is the new goal this season. Can we reach 3 and a quarter? 3 and a half?
  14. At least he basically blames Yost for allowing his list of unapproval to occur...
  15. I'd be down for trading Hardy for the best young ML starter we can get for him. And yes, Doug should call SF about Cain, but there are other good young starter's that can help us as a #2 type on other teams that might need Hardy more.
  16. I agree Socal. It won't be popular here, but now is a GREAT time to extend Weeks longterm. If management really thinks he is going to turn it on very soon, we could get him for something like 6 years and 25-30 mil I am guessing.
  17. Cameron can't hit in the six hole. He is the center fielder. Unless you want to put Cameron at 3B and Hall in CF, there is simply no way that move is logical (to our manager).
  18. Maybe Ben will end up getting the type of contract he should get. Something like 10-15 for 3-4 years. Unlikely though...
  19. I agree that Mota can be quite uncomfortable to have in there at times and also that CC can do 130 once in a while, but would you rather not have him do his 2-3 130 pitching outings in a one or two run game type situation instead of in a blowout?
  20. But it's pretty cool to keep CC getting complete games and a great way to justify trading LaPorta away. I am being sarcastic but this must be the only explanation Ned could possibly have. That, or he planned on him closing the 9th with 120 - pitches, which he could have done had his defense been better for him. Still, I'd have gladly brought Mota out there in the 9th and given Rivera a pinch hit at bat for CC.
  21. Did Ned answer why he took Braun out after hitting his homer? We have maybe one of the two best players in baseball and we replace him? There is no strategy that makes this a good move. Double switching? Come on! Take out any of the other seven but not your best player. Or better yet, don't even worry/do a double switch.
  22. This series, with the pitchers we'll be facing, worries me. Thankfully, Ned used his giveaway lineup yesterday, wanting to lose to the Padres so we could possibly handle the Dodgers for at least 2 of 3. Also, I believe we were cautiously holding Braunie back for this series and will now push him and have him start these games.
  23. I would think Ned would give him at least a game there by now. Not trying to turn this into a third base thread, but does anyone know why Durham can't handle a game a week there. Especially with Rickie starting to play basically every day at second. I know his range is not great, but do you really need much range at third?
  24. Anybody with Dish Network able to get the game or know of a sports bar in madison where it might come in?
  25. Great news! It'd be nice if he could pitch well there and maybe start next season in AAA, though I realize that is highly optimistic and very much a long shot.
