  1. Maybe this is a subject for another thread, but is there anyone out there that has ANY doubt that Suppan would be our third starter for the playoffs over Parra, with Sheets and Sabathia obviously the other two. I am convinced Ned would go with Suppan over Parra, regardless of whether Parra ends up with a 17-6 or record or something to that effect.
  2. Well, I guess I'd prefer Hall/Branyan platooning, though I'd have no problem putting Counsell in for defense like he did for Braun last year (which I hated having his bat out by the way). The best thing to me about this is that maybe if we are THIS sour on our 3B position, maybe Gamel gets a shot early next season.
  3. Halladay for Lawrie and a pitching prospect. I predict CC and Ben leave. I predict we are around 5-10 games over .500 at the all star break with Yo and Manny holding down the one and two slots in the rotation. Doug will decide to get the best pitcher on the market, which will be Roy. Toronto would LOVE to get a Canadian with the potential of Lawrie. Salome and Lucroy (provided he's still in the organization) make this trade one we can handle. I can easily see this trade happening in a year.
  4. I strongly feel we look to the Royals in the offseason for Greinke and possibly Teahen as well. I don't see us trading for any third baseman unless Gamel is moved. Some say it's inevitable, but maybe it isn't. I think it's 50/50. If Gamel is kept at third, you can forget about the Teahen/Laroche/etc. ideas. We alos have Taylor Green (maybe if not dealt) who'll likely be ready in two years. And if Gamel is moved, still, do we really want to give up on Billy Hall given how he's played lately? I'd love him to replace Counsell and be a supersub next year and get his 400 or so at bats personally. I truly believe we dangle Fielder or one of Hardy/Weeks and maybe a top prospect and see if we can get Greinke plus in the offseason. Otherwise, I see us going with Yo and Parra as our top two starters and likely hang into the race and rent the top starter avaulable around the deadline next year with another LaPorta type deal.
  5. Maybe the evidence above is the bigger reason Yost wanted Braun hitting after Fielder....
  6. I like Brian much better than Sutton but still would rather have Vasgergian.
  7. Found it --- Dish Network has it on 449 (NO HD though)
  8. What channel for Dish Network. Please help quick!
  9. Unlikely we give up more top prospects in my opinion, at this point this season. I think we see how far CC and Ben can take us and maybe add a bullpen arm that requires quite a bit less. He's a very good pitcher that I'd love to have though, but at what cost?
  10. End - I think that makes more sense and would be preferred to getting 1-2 years of Halladay. Give me two guys with the liklihood of being a 2 and a 3 (like stated with Cappy and De La Rose which obviously did not work out) and I'll take another Sexson type trade any day of the week and twice on Tuesdays.
  11. Arizona traded us two quality young starting pitchers in the Sexson trade (Cappy and De La Rosa). Say what you want about how their careers have panned out, but you can certainly get quality young starters by trading bats.
  12. Rumor on brewers.com has a thread that says espn has a rumor of Weeks for Durham AND Cain. Man would we be all over that. Sorry no link was provided to me nor do was I able to find it.

  14. I think we match up well with Toronto. There've been three interesting starting pitcher names mentioned in this thread. What I'd prefer to do is expand the deal and "buy low" on Alex Rios. His numbers are not great this year, but he'd be a great corner outfielder for us should we move Hart to center. It'd be nice to get something like Rios and McGowan for Fielder. Not sure if that matches up value wise but I'd be interested in what some of you thought of a two for one like this where we get Rios and send Fielder to Toronto. One thing working in our favor (and this may be up for debate) but we hardly fleeced them in the Overbay trade. Bush has been fairly solid and will still be cheap for us, but it's essentially been an Overbay for Bush trade straight up (with a few contributions from Gross here and there).
  15. I agree Stevo/ In fact, I think how we obtain starting pitchers hinges a lot on what CC does for us and where he takes us. If he truly can take us to the World Series, I think we might look at a trade like this (for a top echelon starter with only 1-2 years left on his contract) as well as resigning Sheets or Sabathia. If we only make the playoffs or worse yet don't make the playoffs, there is no way I see us shelling out young talent that is controllable for a pitcher we'd only have for 1-2 years. A different type of Fielder or Hardy trade would be made to land a #2 type (and hopefully we still can resign one of the two current #1's).
  16. Yeah, Matt Cain would be the guy to target in the off season in a trade, as has been mentioned often here.
  17. Julio Machado....ugh but by my math he should be freed this year... "He also pitched a better-than-average curveball and a slider. Machado was certainly good enough to pitch for a few more years. However, he is a footnote in the ledger of baseball history. Spending the 1991 off-season in his homeland, Machado was arrested for murder being accused of shooting a woman following an auto accident. He was convicted and, following appeals, he was sentenced to 12 years in 1996.
  18. I'd ask for Overbay back too if we trade Prince.
  19. I thought after watching the oldtimers softball game last night it might be a good idea to have a thread on players that use to play for the brewers. Wikipedia.org does a great job and has things on lots of guys. Sorry to start you guys with a downer but I was wondering on William Suero for some reason and here it is. I'll try post these from time to time if people are interested. If not, no big deal. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Suero
  20. Meh, people say the same thing about guys like Gabe Gross, when truth is if Gabe gets 550 AB's, he ends up hitting .270 with 25-30 bombs and good obp and defense. Nelson COULD be rge same case scenario in time.
  21. I will add that Moeller was a clear upgrade to our pathetic catching situation and the unquestioned top catcher for us. Overbay and Spivey were two more obvious starters and Cappy, while being unknown, was a lefty still pegged as a starting pitcher in the majors for somebody. And yes, De La Rosa was to be the jewel of the trade. Counsell was just the hometown here but yet a great depth and team guy.
  22. Your dream needs to double or triple the lengths of Sheets and Sabathias contracts.
  23. Corey Hart would be the smart money pick for who our center fielder will be next year. At least smarter money than Cameron, Gwynn, etc.
  24. Bedard is hurt and would represent the only probable upgrade from what Bush/McClung/Suppan will give us on any given day. The rest are 4/5's that struggle about as much as our three just mentioned. Pass, yet they'll be interesting names to see where they do end up.
