  1. Why? The lineup is mostly college hitters already not to mention the small likelihood any of them get moved up after they would be drafted (maybe one, two max). They will be fine. I doubt Roberts and George are the only reason they didn't have any hits. Still have Chd Stang, Max Walla, and Kenny " Lo Cain Jr." Allison waiting for their opportunity to showcase. What is up with Rogers? Man.....it is like the wheels have just feel off. Howell still with 3BB. The lack of strikes is reason they held him back and he still hasn't shown he can stay over the plate. He is an advanced, repeating, college arm so I expect him to be dominant. Hope he gets it going soon or Ross will be the one taking Heckathorn's place in the next month or two
  2. Great move! For those calling it unnecessary, there is a good chance that Braun is a "fine wine" player who only continues to get better with age. Plenty of greats play 32-37 at a very high level. I'm not to worried about the cost because like everyone has said with inflation this will be a very reasonable deal. I think the biggest thing is that we have our career player. I think today is a great day a great day to be a Brewer fan. This also continues to tell the players that if you play hard, do your job and don't have an !%$#!@ of an agent (Boris cough Boris cough) we are willing to take care of you and we are loyal to you. That is a great messege to send. My only wise is that there would be more players like an Aaron, Yount, and Braun who are actually truely loyal to a franchise and the fans. Something that has really been lost in sports
  3. Biggest helium watch has to be Ross, very well could be top 20. Pitching wise Id have Ross 7th (below is how I rate the top seven) Peralta Rogers Rivas Scarpetta Heckathorn Thornburg Ross I do not consider Braddock a prospect anymore but not sure he "officially" has lost him status
  4. Its funny, I just watched that behind the scenes 7 days in June DVD from last season and there was a part where DM was talking to Mark A about going down to Appleton to see Odorizzi and Bucci pitch. Mark A said he has heard of Jake but not Bucci. Then DM made another comment along the lines of "Yeah Bucci is another Canadian that we really like, has a good young arm." Something like that. Glad to see Richardson back and going 3-4 and most important 0 k's to start the season! If he can keep those down this season, watch out!
  5. Hate to see a start like that for Rogers, hopefully he rebounds. Peralta just seems as if he just hit some luck in blowup innings yet ERA is not affected! 2 errors, a couple grounders skipped through, bunt single. It is however nice to see he is k'ing more along with being a ground ball pitccher. Austin Ross.... wow! Peralta, Heckathorn had not such a clean last outting but I think a Wily AAA, Kyle AA, & Ross A+ (hope Lintz to A) could be coming soon (May)
  6. The Brewers just have my head spinning over this Farris thing......makes absolutely zero sense! He can't be a UT like ppl have mentioned if he is only allowed to play 2nd. They are willing to play Wheeler who defensively is not great at SS all over the infield (2B, SS, 3B) Green is allowed to move around (1B, 2B, 3B) but Farris whos only hope to touch a mlb diamond is for one of our most talented core players to go down is not allowed an opportunity to play SS. Why? They are moving mountains looking for another SS to add depth but all they have to do is simple slide a guy over. How awful could Farris be?Wheeler has a strong arm and nimble for his size but come on.... I don't see Giants trying to turn Panda into a SS. Wheeler is just a big boy. I like him a lot but dont want to see him at SS everyday. I wish someone would just give a direct answer as to why Farris is not an option. Ash just needs to say he doesn't have the arm or as it appears just say he has zero future with the Brewers unless something really bad happens to one of our franchise players (don't want to jynx it so wont mention the name lol). I love the idea of Green and Farris as UT guys next season but Farris needs to be allowed to play around the diamond. Feels good to release some frustration on the topic
  7. 7-1, Hart is coming back, Lucroy just came back, as of late Weeks and McGehee have been pretty quite (outside of the PH HR) and Gomez & Yuni have both start to hit the ball better not great but better. Once Hart comes back the line up switches to Weeks, Hart, Braun, Fielder, McGehee, Yuni, Lucroy, pitcher, Gomez/Morgan (After McGehee 6-9 and be changed). Greinke may be back end of April or early May as will Hawkins and Parra. I think we are in a great position, I think the biggest x-factor is if McGehee can get rolling with the hot streak of Prince, they need someone to protect him. I would even consider Lucroy in the 2 spot, he is a walk machine so far in the minors and has a couple in in his first few games back then hit Mcgehee and Hart 5 and 6 to give that back end a little more spark. Overall we are playing damn goo baseball which I think can be sustained as we get more healthy and other guys start to heat up. Right now we have Braun, Fielder and Tony Plush who are really hot and the rest are a little quite. Weeks could go back on a tear any game.
  8. He was also just lights out in ST not giving up a run. I think he could be the first one to move up out of the pen in Wisconsin (my guess is he will have to replace Wooten sooner than later). Anyone else extremely happy to see Green at 2nd base?
  9. I think Rivas is really trying to get Milwaukee to notice him.....if Estrada wouldnt have pitched as well as he did I think Amaury would be on the next plane out for the open start. Attacking the strike zone, not giving up many hits, and get grounds balls. Edit: My bad, I'll take blame on the less than steller 5th......spoke to soon
  10. It was one rough outting, the guy can straight up pitch. He went down to Nashville in the first outting and was back to himself of being an untouchable minor league pitcher. He gains nothing from being in AAA. McCledon is god but I don't feel he is as good as Kinzler. He just need innings and work.
  11. Yeah depth is hurting right now. Beginning of spring I thought that would be a nice strength but then you lose Shafer, Gindl, Komatsu, and Richardson, prob 4 of our top 5 OFs, that kills.
  12. heres a fun Morgan/Plush interview from April last year, have to say, love his swag and attitude! http://sports.yahoo.com/m...gos-hocke?urn=mlb-237924
  13. Yup call it a season, way to good of a start! lol wow what an incredible night for our pitchers! My favorite Reliever Wooten is back and I wouldn't be surprised if he is in Nashville by August and Milwaukee in September. Get to see him healthy and back to his old ways. Rivas and Peralta doing exactly what you up two of our top pitching prospect would do. Heckathorn is Heckathorn and it is not often you get less than "solid" from him. Ross.....he started to create a lot of buzz during spring and that has carried over. I see him flying up the P50 pretty quick. Overall I think T-Rats could be a very good team this year. They really underacheived last season but they have a bunch of guys coming off rookie league championships who know how to win, they have a bunch off speed, enough power bats with Hawn, Roberts, Rogers, and Walker, and a guy I think will have a very good managing career. I see him following Roenicke's lead and being a guy who will be very aggressive and wants all him players to be aggressive.
  14. Yeah, Parra is a late inning guy. He has electric stuff and he is tough to hit when he only has to work an inning maybe two. Hopefully he can rebuild the confidence and get back to the rotation next season pitching like he is capable of. With him, all issues are about 90% mental and confidence related. He gets over that, he is that guy we though was going to be Yo side kick for many years to come.
  15. That is how I feel as well. Brewers make it easy to tell why Lucroy is the only decent homegrown big league catcher since.....can't even tell ya. Your two youngest (both around 20) and I think most talented (ceiling-wise) catchers are now going to lose much needed development playing time. I in no way think Garfield should recieve less than his 100 games he had last year but that only leaves Roberts with 38 games. Erickson has his work cut out for him. I still feel Roberts may move off from catcher eventually because of how much far his bat is and the lack you playing time we can get at catcher.
  16. Chris Mehring tweeted me back today on the Garfield and Roberts issue: @CMehring: I think ppl are making too big of a deal out of this. My understanding is that one will catch a few days in a row. Then, the other will catch a few days in a rom. Remember, Garfield (18/19) played 102 games and started at catcher in 100 of those games. The Rattlers played 138.
  17. Really hoping (weird to say) that Arnett is hurt....if he is not I am guessing they lost all hope in him already because for someone as old as him not to even make the T-Rats is not good. I was really pulling for him to make a squad and attempt to bounce back but I guess not. Any info on the Richardson injury? Little surprised Shea Vucinich made the club. I hope this isn't a sign that the are also already losing faith in Prince as a SS. He had such an electric start to career and struggle a bit in a pitcher friendly league last season. They have some versitle players to move around the infield (some maybe OF as well). Hunter Morris 1b/3b Mike Brownstein 2B/3B (OF), Shea Vucinich 2b, SS, 3b, Dennis 1B/DH/OF Scooter Gennett 2B (SS if needed) Shawn Zarraga 1B/C/DH Mike Roberts C/OF
  18. It is injurie hard for me to believe brewers will not put Arnett on any roster with the hope he bounce back. With Vucinich playing in the rising star game and not being on any roster makes me wonder if they are bringing him up to BC. Paciorek u'd think would fit in somewhere. Is Richarderson for sure injuried? Wooten, Anundsen, Periard are all guys coming off injuries who are options as well. I wish they would just release the roster already, don't understand the wait. U'd think BC ' s would like to get it out and start hyping some of the players for advertising. Fans like to know who they are going to be watching. This is prob the most prospect filled team in our system. FREE THE ROSTER! lol
  19. Yeah, Richardson was another guy who didn't get into the game that I was really hoping to see. My guess is that they may have like tweaked something or had sometime of illness that they needed to take it easy for. Would have been great if they would have though. Out of the game there are a few more guys that I feel either better about or they kind of really popped onto my radar. The two biggest would be: Dan Merklinger- I mentioned earlier the Capuano comparison and I think that it is spot on. Not sure about the pick off move but he looked good. He is not an over powering guy only hitting 89 maybe 90 here and there max but very crafty and had great off speed stuff. He was a guy before yesterday that I was so so on and didn't think of all that highly of as a prospect but that has changed. I see his ceiling being maybe a 3 max but most likely settling in at the back as a 4 or 5. I can really see how he k'd 148 in 142 IP last season. He did a great job of mixing up his pitches and at least from where I was sitting (218, 2nd deck behind home plate) he looked as though he hides the ball well / has more of a despetive delivery. Kenny Allison- Guy to me screams Lorenzo Cain. Extremely raw, incredible physical make up, very athletic and can steal, hits with some pop, and hit for average. Now Lorenzo played at Arizona when he was 19 (Kenny was 20) and flat out killed the league (believe was player of the year....right?) so Allison isn't quite to his level but still had a nice line. I think he is a guy who could really blossom.
  20. Guessing Crew will be starting Neda at catcher in BC now but I really wonder how this is booing to play out
  21. If I remember right, Arnett had the velocity last year and was hitting 96mph the issue was he could not command it and it was staight as an arrow.
  22. Terrible thing to do, makes zero sense at all. Both need to be catch almost everyday. You can not develop two of your youngest most talented catchers at the same time. Garfield caught almost every game last year, what good is it going to to to cut into his playing time? With Roberts, he has the bat but he needs to be behind the plate working on defense. With Garfield he will won't get the reps he needs. I just have a feeling that they are going to end up moving him off catcher. They had him DH a lot last year and now it appears that will be the case again. Hard to have a catcher if he never gets to catch
  23. I thought Stang Walla Allison all had a shot to make the team and I consider those three to be possible prospects. Really kind of disappointed position player wise. I think Shaw could be a guy who will hit .300+ and get on base a ton and hit with some good gap power (will be a .750-.850 OPS guy) Keen surprised a lot of people last year so hopefully that continues, it seems the Brewers do like him. Hawn and Walker are prob the most important hitters on the team. Both have the power bats that will be in the line up every day. Roberts and Rogers both have heavy bats as well but not sure how playing time will shake out. I expect Garfield to continue to improve with the bat. It seemed as if he hit very well in spring games but I again how are him and Roberts going to split time? Pitching wise, this is an exciting team! Lot of talent arms in both the rotation and bullpen. Holle, Marzec, and Garman are a termendous back of the pen combination. I have said it once and I'll say it again, Kneeling is a guy to watch out for, had maybe the worst first 10 IP of any player in the history of baseball but has an electric south paw arm.....just needs to throw strikes and he did that for the most part in spring games and I believe didn't give up any runs. Love the 2010 SP draftees: Thornburg, Nelson, Miller, & Ross. Can't wait to see how they perform (please baseball gods, no Arnett type repeats!) Cravy was a guy suppose to be the guy in Helena last year with great remarks and endorsements from his coaches (read a couple article last year in the Helena paper), he didn't have a great season but hope this year he comes around. Howell....... to repeat a 23 (24 in September) in low A pretty much tells me they don't have to much hope in him. He had a horrible start but finished the season much better. Even with April he finished the season with a 4.68 ERA.
  24. Little surprised, no Arnett, repeated Howell, no Shea Vucinich, both Garfield and Roberts behind the plate sharing time, no Allison (raw so understandable) no Chad Stang, im curious of which IFs will move to OF, my guess is Middlestadt will see time out there. Catching wise I find it hard to see how one of the two best young catchers in system will no be screwed over in there development by losing the chance to play everyday. Lineup projection 1B Hawn 2b Shaw SS George 3b Walker LF Gravey CF Romero RF Keen C Garfield DH Hopkins/Roberts/Rogers BENCH C Roberts C Pechek 2b/3b Hopkins 1b Rogers OF Middlestadt Batting Order projection Keen Shaw DH(Roberts/Rogers/Hopkins) Hawn Walker Garfield Gravey Romero George
  25. Yeah I was going to mention that about Allison, he has that Cain type body style. Def a sleeper to watch out for in Wisconsin
