  1. Our defense is just unstoppable. We completely shut them down in the first half. Hopefully we can do the same in the 2nd
  2. Up by 15 at half. Gotta love it when you are on the positive end of the "good ole fashioned butt-whupping"
  3. Good for Gabe! I hope he does well for the Oakland Brewers
  4. Not to rehash everything that has been said, but I think for the most part this is a win-win situation. If Edmonds can't cut it, or he feels like he doesnt want to play anymore, he can walk away and we anre not committed to him. If he does well, he gets his money and will be paid accordingly. The worst case scenario is that he kills in ST and the first month and then peters out during the rest of the season. Even then, he'll probably just ride the pine/PH instead of getting too much playing time on the field. Overall, good buy IMO...low risk, high reward. I wish more deals were made so that contracts double/triple based on performance instead of an extra 5-10%
  5. My cold. I had to cancel plans last night and tonight is still up in the air. So much for trying to enjoy my free time
  6. I was only keeping up on the badgers in the first half online, and was told about how bad the badgers were looking so far. When the game got closer I switched from the NFL to the basketball game and I'm glad I did. I loved the Michael Jordan Taylor quote. He was unstoppable and the Badgers were dominate in the OT. Pre-Leuer's injury I thought the Badgers were going to win the Big 10. Maybe theres still hope.
  7. "Dingers! Dingers!" It wouldn't surprise me if MLB actually had a satellite collecting data. (Not sure if thats supposed to be blue or not)
  8. Except for my semi-annual college finals "I'm going to be lazy" mustache, I'm actually growing my first real facial hair. It's been a little over a month and I'm having a difficult time trying to not scratch my new goatee. Either I have to learn how to deal with it, or its all coming off ----- Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=573441#p573441 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=8540
  9. I went with my sister probably around a month ago, right when it opened up. I'm not the biggest art fan, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Everybody, I believe, thinks of the giant Cambell's Soup Can when they think of Warhol, and he truly has done a lot more. Warhol was a very intelligent yet closed and slightly disturbed artist. I would recommend it. The Attanasio's, Bradley's, and the Selig's were among the major contributors to the exhibit, IIRC, it was awesome to great lengths to make Milwaukee and the surrounding area that much greater. If you do go, make sure to get the self guided tour headsets, it really makes a huge difference. Also, make sure you check out his Oxidation Paintings. I was rather....amused by them.
  10. TH announces Escobar clinching Winter Ball Batting Title Batting Stats Escobar with a great .393/.440/.491 and OPSing at a .931 Hurricane even with a very respectable .309/.365/.446 and a OPS of .810 Crappy pitching or not, its good to see those two mashing
  11. where at, if I may ask?
  12. that makes him a dedicated BF'er in my book... Oh and whats not bugging me was that I got 3 separate dinner offers from friends last night.
  13. After reading the article and all the posts, I am very intrigued by the stats and the analysis the author provided. I know pitcher's BABIP has been said here and other places that luck plays some roll into this stat. I'm guessing Burnetts 10 worst starts would have a higher BABIP simply because of the increase in number of hits/runners than the his best 10 starts, but who knows. Otherwise, I thought the article was an interesting read, and would really like to see somebody do more analysis into this.
  14. In a span of 3 days I had a falling out with my father and I lost my girlfriend, whom I thought had the potential to be THE one....Now I'm spending Christmas practically alone.......Merry Christmas
  15. Fangraph's opinion of the signing Apparently, the only person who thinks that Kendall is not overpaid is Dayton Moore
  16. Link According to this yahoo article, there were several winners and losers. Granted every single team isn't listed on here, but I find it interesting that the writer chose to include some teams he thought were TBD(Rangers and Cards) when in the beginning of the article he stated that the rest of the teams he didn't list were deemed TBD so why list them at all. What also is interesting is the fact that the writer thought the Tigers and Astros were clear winners. IMO, Tigers got the wrong end of the blockbuster trade, and any time you use refreshingly excessive and penny-pinching to describe the situation, I start wondering what other contradictions there are. The 'Stros also were winners supposedly even though couldn't land Hawkins. The lack of coverage about the Brewers is disappointing but not unexpected. The writer thought highly of Hawkins and LA were losers because primarily of losing Wolf due to the divorce so I'm guessing any thought he had of the Brewer's Winter Meeting was a success if anything. So BF'ers what do you think? Do you agree with the writer? Who would you put right now the winners and losers of the Winter Meetings? Where are the Brewers?
  17. Rant 1.. I drove to the corner store for something and passed about half a dozen houses with Christmas lights. I'm all for putting up lights while its still warm out, but you don't need to actually turn them on. I'm going to a Thanksgiving dinner at my friends house on Fri and they've already put up Christmas decorations. I'll have to pass the stuffing and gravy around the garland and stockings. Oye Rant 2.. I'm all for time wasters, even on Facebook, but its getting annoying when 3/4 of all my news feed is who fertilized whose farm and who needs what items to complete their collection. I'm hesitant to block the app because when I am being lazy I'll help fertilize and give items but not to the extent that some hardcore FB'ers seem to do.
  18. Inventing and playing small games is hobby of mine. I've tinkered with making sports dice/card/board games and have come across the issue of making things either way too complex or way too simple. I would love and be honored if I could playtest for you. It sounds creative and interesting and would satisfy a wide market of people (baseball fans, hardcore geeks, gamers, and casual fans like girlfriends/roommates as well)
  19. By keeping Hardy in the minors exactly 20 days, the Brewers pushed back his free agency until after the 2011 season, making him more palatable in a trade. Whether this was intentional or not, I find it hard to believe that all we could get it Gomez. Presuming we drop Cam, this looks like a salary dump to pay for pitching. I really thought we could have gotten more for JJ (pitching or not)
  20. I always figured it was more to accommodate drivers who, like stalton, want to stop there but don't want to cross traffic. At these Fish Hatch and Mineral Point locations, 'not wanting to cross traffic' is no excuse to bypass the PDQ. Talking about the PDQ across from the PDQ reminds me of the Lewis Black sketch where you know you are in h-e-double hockey sticks when there is a Starbucks across the street from a Starbucks. Good comedian, IMO I'm all for being lazy, but I don't think I've ever thought, "Man, I would love to go to *fill in the blank* but I'd have to cross a semi busy street, so I don't think I'll go. I hope they build the same exact *fill in the blank* on this side of the road." For as convenient as it is, aren't they taking business from their own station when they build so close to each other.
  21. I have always wondered about the 2 PDQ's. I've been partial to the southern one, although usually when I'm passiing through Mad Town I'll stop at the one thats on the right side of me so I don't have to cross traffic
  22. In reading this thread, I have an image of Jackie Chan "singing" Edwin Starr....(Even though I don't believe that its good for absolutely nothing) I've always been a fan of fangraphs (haha) but as far as WAR is concerned, I think it does slightly overvalue defense, but thats just their opinion versus mine. Like thebruce, I've made quite a few decision matrices myself, and I think the people at FG really put alot of weight into defense. In looking at comparing WAR for Center Fielders: 3 of the top 4 CF WAR's have a higher defensive Runs Above Average then offensive Runs Above Average...to me that states that the best CF'ers are gold glovers, unless they can really mash the ball ( Kemp is the outlier of the top 4; Frank Gutierrez, Morgan and Cameron are the defensive specialists.) According to Fangraphs, Cam is the 4th Best CF'er in regards to WAR.....Regardless of what that number is, How many people would agree that there were only 3 other better CF'ers overall?
  23. I listened to a few songs on your site and I'm thoroughly impressed. I've got a few friends who have just gotten into making a few albums. Besides liking your sound, I think you come across as rather polished, something not easily achieved.
  24. I think it would say alot for the Brewers if they can pull off a series win. Lets get 'em guys
