  1. But Estrada isn't a proven veteran! He doesn't have the grit to pitch at this level. Just isn't a gamer like Bushie and Soup.
  2. On that note, Witrado reports that Lucroy will for sure be paired with Wolf for now and will likely be paired with another pitcher. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/95022184.html I think the best way to handle this is to go with 2/5 and 3/5 playing time; if Kottaras keeps hitting like he has for the first 40 games, I can't justify putting him on the bench for Lucroy.
  3. Unless this is something new, Salome has been on a leave of absence since late April, I believe. Hopefully he can get everything figured out; he has always been one of my favorite prospects for the crew.
  4. Man, that's really disappointing. As much flack as he took, the guy was pretty productive over the course of his 30-some games as a Brewer. I'm just happy we've got Kottaras and Lucroy, both of whom look like pretty good players up to this point.
  5. I don't believe...what I just saw! Nice outing by Wolfie so far. Not dominant, but he got the job done and kept them off the board. Good to see.
  6. I'm not one for hyping a 18 year old prospect, but he just hit 4 homers and went 6 for 6 to send his team to the Juco WS. http://www.lvrj.com/sport...rld-series-94686519.html However, I did happen to note some of the absurd scores in those games mentioned in the article (of the nature of 25-11). Does anybody know if those JuCo leagues are typically very offensive?
  7. It would be interesting to see what that lineup would be able to do. If Hart continues to hit, putting him in the five hole behind those guys might not be a bad idea.
  8. I'd rather trade Hart this season. As trwi pointed out, he still hasn't been great against righties, and with how productive he would be over the course of an MLB season, I don't think he'd be very valuable at first. If (when) Fielder leaves, under the condition that Gamel shows competence and health over the course of the season, I like the idea of moving McGehee over to first and letting Gamel stick at third. I will admit that I was skeptical about McGehee's performance this year, but at this point I think he may very well be a .300/.360/.490/.850 hitter, and I think I'm still being conservative with that mark, given how he has killed the ball over the course of the last two seasons.
  9. This is sad to see; thoughts and prayers with his family and friends today. http://nbcsports.msnbc.co...4/ns/sports-player_news/
  10. Any chance Lucroy gets the start today? A day game after a 12 inning 3:00 start seems like a great time to give Lucroy his first start. That may just make too much sense though...
  11. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/94672954.html From Witrado, it looks like it may be Estrada's day. Here's to hoping for the best for Marco.
  12. Stetter?? Really? He's got options left, so he could go back to AAA. I wouldn't DFA him.Yeah, I meant to the minors (although, how many options does he have left at this point)? I'm pretty bearish on Stetter right now, but given that he has options left, it would certainly not be smart to DFA him.
  13. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/94640384.html Haudricourt's post on Gomez's reaction: “I’m going to apologize,” Gomez said, referring to Blackburn. “It’s nothing personal. I just go so excited. Right now I feel bad because he's one of the good friends I have over there, Blackburn. “I'm going to apologize because I don't want to show him up. If they're going to do something tomorrow, I'm going to take it like a man because I know I did (something) bad.” I agree with just about everybody that garbage like that really isn't necessary, especially in a 15-0 game. However, I do respect the fact that Gomez apologized about it, and genuinely did seem to regret what he did. Pujols is probably just a bit too classy to apologize for watching his homers.
  14. I think the case can easily be made for any of Stetter, Vargas, or Suppan being DFA'd. Unless the wheels on Capuano completely fall off between now and the 29th, I fully expect him to be with the Brewers. That said, I really hope that when (or if) Capuano makes his first appearance, he gets a proper ovation. The guy was nothing but a class act during his time in Milwaukee and he's now spent the last two + years battling back from an injury.
  15. Wow, I just realized this is the first time since April 7 that Coffey has been used for multiple innings. I realize the guy has struggled a bit in his limited work but with how much the bullpen has struggled I don't see why he isn't throwing 2 innings in the occasional tight game where Gallardo leaves after 5.1 with a 1-0 lead.
  16. I'm just hoping to see Suppan throw 200 pitches tonight. I wonder if the Twins will put up 20 if he sticks around...
  17. I don't want him on the field. I don't want him in this hemisphere (as long as he's playing baseball).
  18. That couldn't have been a make up call, could it have? I saw that clearly from my couch.
  19. Why should we analyze a player based on good starts and bad starts when we have such better information? His ERA is terrible and his peripherals agree that he really has been awful. He's a fly ball pitcher with mediocre control who can't strike anyone out.
  20. Man oh man has Bush been terrible this year. His K:BB ratio is now 1:1. Hey, I kind of liked that Marco Estrada guy, I wonder if he's still playing ball?
  21. He won't. Bush is more likely to get suspended. Rapuano is an absolute disgrace to umpiring.
  22. I just think its important that we remember the price Melvin paid for Zaun's services, $1.9MM this year and $2.25 next year on a club option with a $.25MM buyout. Even the most bearish playing time projection for Zaun would probably have been about 60 games this year, which would assume one or both of Kottaras tearing the cover off the ball and Lucroy quickly developing. Zaun's not a world beater by any stretch, but he is a consistent veteran catcher that can be counted on to put up decent numbers.
  23. Quit being such a pessimist. We need all the help from Hendry we can get for the Brewers to finish ahead of the Cubs this season. This can't possibly hurt.
