  1. Hart has been more than just fine, he's been a stud. He has come a long way from being a non-tender candidate (at least around these parts). I enjoy watching this team play baseball. They are very good at playing baseball.
  2. Unfortunately you're right about defense. I don't think Upton will receive more votes than Fielder, but if I were voting Upton would be in my top five, while Fielder would probably just miss the top five. I think you're giving Fielder to much credit. His bat is without a doubt top 5 in the league, but he is a bad defender at first base. Braun plays (marginally) superior defense in a harder position and has put up a similar batting line.
  3. I'd give it to Upton before Fielder. Heck, I'd give it to any of Upton, Tulowitzki, Braun, Kemp, or McCutchen before Fielder. Fielder has been marginally better at the plate, but Upton is a much better defender and RF is definitely the more difficult position to play.
  4. Brewerfan will explode today unless the Crew can win this game. Oh boy. Let's go AAA Brewers!
  5. http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQjBJ1946NmKv7o9torU5KmStfbBeVyMsYP8_J_LCNnF7Uifx7B
  6. Game over. Go Rockies. Great effort from the pitching staff. Somebody should make a list of all of the dumb things Williams said during the game.
  7. I'm picturing a Silence of the Lambs type phone call from Zambrano a few years from now. "Hello...Quade..."
  8. FOX's theme song for MLB games is the same as their theme song for NFL games. I think that song has been used for at least a decade, so it always makes me think football is coming on. The NFL preseason coverage is also annoying. I like NFL football, I really do. I just don't care about the results of every preseason game.
  9. That map is funny. I wonder why that little corner of California/Arizona is being shown the Brewers-Pirates game. Yanks-Rays here in NC too. If I were Kevin Correia, I'd have the following on my business card: Kevin Correia, MLB All-Star.
  10. http://mlb.mlb.com/video/...uery=%26game_pk%3D288675 It's here in the full highlight. What a great way to get your first career MLB hit. They didn't have a slow motion video on MLB.com, but it looked like he might not have been safe.
  11. In the words of Ralph Wiggum: "That's funny, but not ha-ha funny."
  12. He does. He seems to really care about being a complete player, and I have a lot of respect for that. As someone said earlier, it's not Prince's fault he's pretty much the definition of a DH. As someone who does not doubt the Brewers' ability to replace Prince as a ballplayer, I'm really going to miss watching Prince and Braun hit consecutively every night.
  13. Brewers rotation for next season: Greinke, Gallardo, Marcum, Wolf, Narveson Maybe I'm greedy, but I want back to back playoff appearances.
  14. BUC, that's either scary or hilarious. Out of all qualified batters, Adam Dunn has the second lowest slugging percentage. He is currently slugging .296. That's lower than Zack Greinke. If you would have told me Zack Greinke would outslug Adam Dunn by 50 points, I would have been pretty excited about McGehee.
  15. You know when Melvin said he was looking to get another outfielder? Maybe Hairston is that outfielder. Glad to see Lopez out of the lineup. With Lopez, Counsell, Wilson, McGehee, and Betancourt the Crew really does have a plethora of sub-par infielders. You have to assume Lopez will be gone soon
  16. I think Roenicke just sticks with whichever guy he has first. Yuni, Kotsay, Lopez...
  17. FWIW, the guys on the MLB Network just said Roenicke should be considered for Manager of the Year. I'm not sure they are aware of how good the Brewers are. I've lightened up on Roenicke, although I still think he's a bad manager. His decisions are often pretty silly, and it's painful to watch Hairston on the bench. He did do a good job of staying out of the crap that LaRussa was trying to bait him into though, and he does seem to understand his players.
  18. Finish off a sweep of the Cards on Wednesday, August 7th. The game is tied 3-3 in the top of the 10th. LaRussa has been thrown out for arguing a borderline call and will probably be suspended for ordering Yadi to spit on an umpire. Plush singles, steals 2nd, Yadi throws the ball away and he advances to third with two outs. Braun hits what looks to be a routine fly ball to deep CF, but it hits Berkman's head and goes over the fence for a HR. Braun proceeds to moonwalk around the bases and make lewd remarks about TLR's daughter. In the bottom of the 10th, Ax hits Pujols on a 0-2 pitch. Seeing the pitch as intentional, Pujols stares down Axford on the way to 1st and trips over the bag into the infield dirt. Lucroy throws the ball to Prince for the putout. Ax strikes out the next two men. After the game, the Brewers find LaRussa in their locker room. He has consumed all of the champagne.
  19. What a great win. They beat the Cardinals and the game finished by 10:40 ET. Gateway Redbirds is pretty entertaining right now.
  20. Cardinals don't boo. See you later, TLR. Ueck seemed to think it was the right call. Can anyone second him?
  21. So, do you let Wolfie finish this one out? I'm sure Wolf would like the CG, but I'm hoping Roenicke will use either Axford or K-Rod. Or Saito. Or just use each for one batter. Yeah, I love the back end of this bullpen.
  22. PCL teams are averaging 5.63 runs per game, so De La Cruz's ERA looks a lot better when compared to that mark. The league average line this season is .287/.361/.454/.815, and that's including ~80 PA's from Wil Nieves. I know nothing about him but he seems to have control problems and strike people out. I like pitchers who strike people out. I don't like pitchers with control problems. On the balance, he has a cool name, so I'm expecting him to perform well.
  23. DFA Klinsmann.
  24. Actually ESPN decided it was more important to show the end of a blowout in the regionals for the LLWS than to show the start of the game. 22 minutes in, Mexico is up 1-0.
