  1. Honestly, trying to pick an MVP is like looking at one of those find the one that is different between a bunch of pictures that are the same except they forgot to put in the one that has a difference.
  2. I was going to predict 23-7, but it was already a game or 2 into the month before I noticed the thread and felt that was too late. Now I'm thinking that might have been pessimistic. Will be interesting to see how far the streak can go now that the burger monkey is off their back.
  3. While most fans would put those 3 in some order for the top 3, if given free money to bet on it I'm sure almost everyone would put their money on peralta getting the ball in game 1 if healthy.
  4. I think the team has to seriously consider making priester the opener, for everyone. Just a handful of pitches every game should be enough to ensure we never lose again!
  5. Just put the loki gif here. I can't figure it out on my lunch break.
  6. Move aside wally pipp. Rhys Hoskins has entered the chat.
  7. I feel like this is as good as thread as anybody discuss Contreras' finger. I don't remember when he was initially injured, but with the recent news that it would require surgery and he would be out the year if he went that route concerning for next year? Just doing a quick Google search says it might have been something that happened last year. If he didn't do surgery last off season will he do it this offseason? If he does will he miss the beginning of next season? This whole thing is a big mess and is part of a concerning developing pattern where the players are trying to play through injuries and seemingly hurting the team more than if they just said something right away.
  8. You had great foresight not having backup catcher on the list, because while it was the top need it has been crossed off.
  9. I never trusted quintana. Sad that he's proving me right to have not. I don't know if we could even get anything for trading him, but I'd take some money savings if some tram wants to pick him up off waivers.
  10. Judge is experiencing pain in his elbow when throwing the ball. If that shuts him down that would really tank the already spiraling Yankees chances. Would be a shame if the Yankees ended up missing the playoffs altogether.
  11. I don't understand what or whose hindsight you are referring to here. It sounds like you are implying the front office just lucked into a good trade, but to me it's just evidence they know what they are doing way more than we do. Maybe they will make another big swing trade, or maybe they will make 1 or 2 small fringy type moves. If they do the latter, it wouldn't be some failure to "go for it". I trust the front office to do what's best for the team and sometimes that is doing nothing.
  12. The bad news is that now new York can't overspend instead of us for Suarez. The good news is now we cant overspend for McMahon.
  13. The best part was that the unveil was sponsored by dude wipes. They the unveil on a platform on a lake or something and a photographer lost his situational awareness and just stepped off into the water. Even the Browns sponsors and media are jokes.
  14. 1982 was what I've seen reported.
  15. Eliminate them by the end of august?
  16. Not sure if this work, but Suzuki was called for 3rd strike pitch clock violation after walkong off fouling a ball that bounced into his groin. If it were anyone but a cubs player I'd say it was a stupid call. I can't figure out how to embed the thing, but at least the link works. Mod edit: see embed below
  17. I was just reading through the thread and was about to comment that sometimes this year we have been terrible to start a game, but then the flood gates open and we score a bunch, like just happened. Can never count these guys out.
  18. I don't remember which topic it was, but there was some discussion on the board about who you would want to start a winner take all, and I think my answer is the Quinn from Friday night.
  19. I understand not every IL of a bad player is a conspiracy, but also how does that work? "Jake you've been terrible for 2 months we are going to be cutting you" "Well now that you mention it, my should has been bothering me for 2 months" Just 2 me it feels like if the injury just happened it doesn't matter, and if it's been a while you've been hurting the team by keeping it quiet.
  20. Can we pop the champagne now that Frazier is out of the division?
  21. Most Vaughnable Player!
