  1. Ohio st. escapes in OT but Purdue seems to have caught our shooting cold and only scored 11 points in the first half and are down 26 to Minnesota. Moore shooting a horrid 1-14. Does Minn need to win tomorrow to get in?
  2. What did they do?
  3. And today, Nova lost to the 13th place UConn team at home. Such a terrible conference. As I type Kansas is losing to A&M on the road, not a very good couple days for ranked teams. Sorry A&M fans, I jinxed them.
  4. They're not anti-stadium tax, they're anti-cub's stadium tax.
  5. Illinois just made things interesting in the Big Ten by beating Mich. St. Huge win for them and everyone else with 3 conf. losses.
  6. Moving a team from the NL to the AL would only increase each NL team's chance of making the playoffs. Each AL team would have another team to compete with, lowering each of their chances of making it to the playoffs. But the one thing you can say about it, is that it would even out everyone's chances of making the playoffs...well everyone not in the AL East.
  7. Kansas City needed someone to tell them how much to play Kendall. Ned will be sure to tell them everyday. Not sure if that should be blue or not...
  8. I'm pretty sure it was Evans and sometimes Taylor guarding Singler in the first half, or at least most of the last of the first half. Right now it doesn't seem like Evans is a very good player, but he sure does hustle out there. Big win for the Badgers and the Big Ten.
  9. That shouldn't matter as the voting is done before the playoffs.
  10. Real nice outing for Bush. It's shame that he had to go against Carpenter who is pitching better.
  11. I had to work, so I missed all but about the first half inning of the game http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif. With all that happened, it seems I have missed the game of the year. Even with the disappointment that the season has been, I'm glad they can still have fun out there. From what others have said earlier, it doesn't seem like the Giants' announcers had any problem with it, but have any of the Giants' players said anything official, or unofficial, about it? I liked it, though it looked like a few players were a tad late falling down and should have practiced a little more.
  12. I think Happ has the edge over the other pitchers and McCutchen has the edge over the other position players, but if Jones can keep putting up the power numbers and keep his avg. around the 290-300 range, if not higher, he might be able to steal the award. I'm sure Happ will get it because the Phils are in first place.
  13. Actually, I think it was because we wouldn't have had anyone to play second if we were to tie or take the lead, because cc already pinch hit and if you move McGehee to second, you have no one to play third. The only option would be something that I would only want considered in extreme emergencies, like injury, where say Braun moves to third and Bourgeois takes his spot in the outfield or you put an inexperienced Hardy or Escobar at second or third. I was also trying to figure out a way to get Escobar in there to pinch run and these were the only ways I could come up with and thought we would be better off just having Lopez stay in the game.
  14. You can say Melvin has been the GM for 7 years and that he has had plenty of time to get pitching, but the reality is that for most of those years, the team was horrible. It's taken most of those years just to get the team to a position where it could sign FA guys like Suppan and Looper. Maybe he could have traded for some pitching a few years ago when we were starting to draft better players, but it would have been wasted with no offense and it probably would have cost some of the players that are now stars on this team.
  15. http://images.yuku.com/image/jpeg/0a63693b4d70e0cac3e666e6ddd102c6b68e5017.jpg General Anthony Clement McAuliffe says my thoughts exactly.
  16. I would love to be able to sign Fielder for a couple of years past arby, but I understand that that's isn't likely. If we do trade him I would be disappointed in anything but a huge haul for him, including 1 or 2 major league proven players. They wouldn't have to be the center piece of the deal, but maybe you get someone at a position where they have someone right behind them ready to go, like a hardy for us. Melvin was able to get major league player for Lee, so he might be able to get some in a Fielder trade, though I would hope we would get a couple that end up like COCO, for a couple more years, and less like Nix and Mench.
  17. I think I saw a replay of that. The catcher set up in what looked like the opposite batters box, the pitcher hit the spot, and the ump called it a strike, looked like it was strike 3, I only saw it in passing so I'm not sure, but the ump got all animated for the call. That is just despicable. I might understand poor umping at a regular little league game, but not the LLWS. If I were him, after seeing that, when I got the call to come in and talk to my boss, I would be like that's ok, I'll just quit.
  18. If it's pouring like TH said, I just hope to see him on the mound today. Macha must have moved Escobar up a spot because the pressure on him has eased up one spot's worth.
  19. Well, at least we have one reliable bullpen arm, thank you Trevor.
  20. Just to clear this up. Kendall hit 2 homers last year. The first of which went off the foul(fowl) pole on the short porch and the second was at home against the Reds. So, 2 of his last 3 homers were thanks to the short porch in Houston. I swear Kendall might get double digit homers if he played for Houston, and he played as much as he plays for us.
  21. Since we couldn't send all of the pitchers down to Nashville, we had to bring Nashville to the pitchers. Seriously though, the reality is that pretty much everyone but Yo and Hoffman are struggling, and someone is going to take the blame. I don't know if Castro deserves the blame, but for better or worse, the blame is his.
  22. If his fastball was that straight, wouldn't he have gotten hit in the minors? I've always thought that that's the way it is with the young guys, able to hit the fastball but have to work on hitting other things. Which is why when pitchers face them, in rehab and spring training, their ERA's are inflated, because they are throwing fastballs trying to work on getting ready to pitch and don't care about the results.
