  1. I don't think MLB has the same rule the NFL has where they could apply "integrity of the game." To me, why I think they should routinely suspend players for this type of slide is; when would someone ever slide like that if they were actually trying to be safe? Never. So, the runner purposely collided with the thrower in ultimately a non baseball slide. which to me should be an immediate ejection, fine and suspension. I get sliding hard into 2nd when you are doing a normal slide but there was nothing normal about this slide.
  2. Is Rollins still hurt or did they actually make the shocking decision that it's better to play the superior player instead of the older one? It is shocking as he is healthy. He had a .655 OPS in August and their hands were tied. Seager came up with September call ups and has hit 337/425/561 for a 986 OPS in over 100 ABs. That will bench a whole lot of people. And as you said - it's shocking they are actually playing him because most love the vets
  3. It is funny scrolling this list and seeing 3 ex Brewers (Gallardo, Greinke and Estrada) all lined up to pitch in the divisional round.
  4. Yep, that is right. I forgot about the need to wait for possible tie breaker games. However, you could always get rid of the tie breaker games and have tie breaker rules like they do in the NFL. I do find it funny that you can sweep a team for the whole season, end up tied with them and still have to play a play in game. I still think 6 teams in the playoffs is doable but you wouldn't be able to allow for the travel days. So it would be just like the regular season when they go weeks without a travel day.
  5. The top 3 teams already sit from a day game on Sunday and don't play until Friday. So they have 4 full days off. (5 if you count the hours.) I know I said it before but when (not an if) they go to 32 teams, and re-align to 8x4, I would be in favor of a 6 team playoff with the top 2 seeds sitting. I would then play a 3 game series, with the better team getting games 2 & 3. The games would be played during the same time frame, I just wouldn't have all these "travel" days. Teams go weeks without a "travel" day. There is no reason that with having all 2:00 CST starts on the last Sunday of the year, that series can't start on Monday. The other two can start on Tuesday. So for the NL wild card week would go. Game 1 - Monday. Game 2 - Wednesday Game 3 - Thursday NLDS Game 1 - Saturday With this format, you are adding 1 day as the NLDS is scheduled to start on Friday this week.
  6. It's truly amazing isn't it? I like the shakeup. I want to be all in on CC and Stearns. So let them pick their staff.
  7. I think they just need to make a rule like the NBA. And I would only do it in this years scenario where the W1 team has the 2nd best record in the NL. That team could bump a team from divisional round to hosting the play in game. I do think the Pirates are getting a raw deal. But it could be worse without the play in game. If we didn't have the play in game, the 3rd best team in the NL would be home already. So this year it is exactly why they added it. The Cubs deserve to be in. I like the new format and I would even go to 6 teams and have a 3 game series for seeds 3-6. Top 1/2 get a bye. So this year would be Giants at Pirates and Cubs at Mets. I would let the Pirates get the 3 seed. AL would see Angels @ Texas, Astros @ Yankees And as others have mentioned the Brewers had some teams over Younts tenure that could have really done some damage if there was a wild card team much less a wild card 2 team.
  8. My guess is straight cash, homie. lol. This made me chuckle. I thought I heard somewhere it was for cash unless the twins made the playoffs then we get a player
  9. With 4 games left it is mostly down to the 6th or 7th pick. Colorado has 2 more losses then us, which based off of last years record we need to pickup 3 games on them as they own the tie breaker. The A's are also 3 games in front of us, as we own the tiebreaker with them. Miami plays the Rays today and then 3 with the Phillies. The Phillies are pretty bad so I am thinking the Brewers get the 6th pick.
  10. When I hear this topic, I always bring up the time Lovie Smith took over for the Bears. He said in his opening press conference that his top priority is to beat the Green Bay Packers. Right when he said that I laughed. To me that is a losers mentality. The top goal is to win championships. You can spin it however you want. Win consistently and finally win 1, get lucky and win 1, play mediocre but get in and win it. It doesn't matter. At the end of the day your organizational goal is to win it all.
  11. With a week to go, we are in a 3 way tie for the 4th pick. Pick 3-6 is looking like our range.
  12. As others have said. By the time 2020 rolls around, he might not even be in the top 100 paid players. I really don't think his contract is a big deal compared to his production.
  13. lol - If I hold that kind of power, god help us
  14. All I can say is I hope it works out. What else can you say. It fits the mold of what they were looking for.
  15. 14 games left and we own the 3rd pick ... I hope we can sustain it
  16. If we can lose tonight or tomorrow - that should really set us up well for a good draft pick. 10 road games followed by a "home" series vs the Cubs which is a home game only by location
  17. ... Good good. 3rd pick here I come!
  18. Lol ... I suppose a 6 game losing streak equates to us as having stopped winning
  19. @Ken_Rosenthal: Sources: #Rays VP of baseball operations Chaim Bloom will interview for #Brewers’ GM job tomorrow.
  20. Right now the Brewers have the 7th Pick in the draft. They have a 3 game lead as the Tigers have 78 losses (we have 81). Then on the other side is the Marlins/Reds/ and A's all at 83 losses. If we could leapfrog all 3 of those teams we would go from the 7th pick to the 4th pick. (And the Rockies sit at the 3rd pick with 84 losses.) There is no catching the Phillies and Braves. They seem pretty locked into the 1 -2 slot. We have 13 games vs the Cubs / Cards remaining. We then have 6 games vs Reds / Padres. If we can somehow get a top 5 pick, that would be great. I don't want to see the Tigers and Padres to jump over us and we end up with the 9th pick. We have an outside shot at the 3rd overall pick but could fall as far as 9th/10th. That is a big difference regardless what people want to believe.
  21. I decided to compare Santana's swing to Braun's in my quick analysis because I would agree that Santana's swing does look different an everyone is raving about his bat speed. (Side note; I think Braun has one of the most perfect swings I have ever seen. The position of his body at point of contact just looks perfect to me) ... Anyhow, I just watched 3 of Santana's HR's (all opposite field) and compared it to a HR from Braun. From what I can tell, when Santana and Braun reach the point of contact their right arm is angled, left arm is almost extended, hips are open, knee is locked, and closely after the swing their arms reach full extension. From that, you would say their swing is identical but it isn't at all. Santana stands very tall before and during his swing and keeps his hands lower. Braun stands tall before the swing but during the swing, he gets into a more natural hitters stance with his leg stride. He also keeps his hands held high. Outside of those differences, I do think Santana swings "hard" vs Braun who has a more natural glide through the zone. Braun really sits back on the ball and springs on it using all of his kinetic energy. Santana just seems to stand tall and use his length to get leverage, swing hard and really help him drive the ball to the opposite field. Two different swings but getting very similar results. This could be quite the tag team for the next few years.
  22. Agreed. This trade is currently looking very favorable to the Brewers. Considering we haven't even seen the top prospect from the trade in Phillips.
  23. I just went to SF and Oakland for the first time this season. Oakland is a dump but still puts a checkmark in the visited column. SF is a blast and I will go again. Haven't been to the other offerings next year will have (Seattle, LAD, SD) so a western trip might be in my future too. Go Brewers! My brother did the SF/OAK trip for his honeymoon and said that exact same thing. He mentioned that OAK kind of reminded of him of County Stadium a bit as well. Either way, I love taking in new parks regardless of how "good" or "bad" the park actually is for locals who go all the time. That is true. We had a good time hanging out in the Oakland parking lot. There was a group tailgating, playing bags so we stopped and had a beer with them. They were really nice people.
