And in my opinion I find that disappointing - don't sit near the field with young kids when you can't pay attention. I just sat row 5 behind dugout yesterday with my 8 year old and I felt safe the whole time. There is a reason the tickets behinds home plate sell for less than the tickets behind the dugout on the secondary market. I went to a Pirates game at PNC this year and they go end of dugout to end of dugout and I wasn't a fan of it. I sit behind the dugout for a reason and now they are reducing that excitement
I agree and would love Arcia in the lineup. He is a part of the future and is missing out on valuable AB's. But it's a tough spot with 9 games left and CC has to do what he thinks is best. I love Phillips getting starts. He is going to be fun watching all next year.
I was at the game last night - such an electric crowd. I agree it is disappointing with all the Cubs fans but that part just is what it is. It was fun (would have been better with a win) and I just hope the Brewers can pull off a win tonight. Let's go brewers!!
But that's the issue. It isn't a binary equation. I think Phillips had some great AB's today and as a manager I would have given him his normal AB. But there are scenarios where bunting is a fine thing to do Anyhow - Nice Win!!
Ryan is our 3 hitter due to 1) He is productive and 2) he is still a hard out. He isn't one of the guys on the team who goes up first pitching hacking to pop up to the infield. Domingo is roughly the same age Ryan was in 2008 when Ryan caught fire and finished that year with some amazing games. We need someone to do that this time through. However, I feel Ryan won't be moved from the 3 hole until someone can replace him and not in just hitting ability but the mental aspect of how to work pitchers. That will keep him in the front of the order.
12 games left - Let's go! Us going 9-3 would put the pressure on the Rockies to go 8-4 to keep us out. 7-5 would get us a date in Denver. If we go 8-4, Rockies need to be 6-6. Cubs go 7-6, we would need a 10-2 run. All the scenarios! Starts with Brewers taking care of business tonight. Keep it going boys!
I have been to 19 parks and will make it 20 when the Brewers play at Kansas City next year. Of the Parks I have been too: Least Favorites: TB Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Nationals Park. Oakland Coliseum. TB Rays and Nationals put their parks in bad neighborhoods and hoped it would improve area. It has worked but still a lot left to be desired. Tropicana is just a dump to me. Plus they serve boiled peanuts. What the? I don't want wet soggy peanuts. DC has so many awesome buildings, monuments, etc you would have thought they could have had one in view. Big fail there as others have said. Very bland. Toronto's stadium is just old and nothing spectacular. I do like the downtown area of Toronto though and the Real Sports Bar with a movie theatre TV screen is awesome. Oakland - Stadium is crazy old. Although the people were nice and we played bags and drank a few beers with some random A's fans in the parking lot. Guaranteed Rate Field - White Sox - Nothing around the stadium to do. Ballpark is bland. Just bottom of the barrel. Favorites: Camden Yards. I love the inner harbor and had a ton of fun at Pickles right outside of the park and enjoyed the stadium itself. They have bricks in place in the outfield walkways that show where homeruns have landed. Good trip down memory lane to see some of the names on the bricks. PNC - I am a huge fan of PNC and like staying near the southside. Such a great place to go for a run or walk. Great bars. Great views. Nice people. One of my favorite cities. PetCo - San Diego the city is great although I think the stadium itself is mediocre. The Gaslamp district is just amazing with all the food options. Just an awesome city. Comerica - I know what you are thinking, Detroit? City aside, this park is pretty sweet in my opinion. Actually probably a park I would go to, to just hang out at a park and walk around. Their right field lounge area is awesome. Great bars, fire tables, ample seating. Just a great idea. Big wooden chairs line the last rows in the 100 level and seem pretty cool too. Count me as a fan AT&T Park - I liked the park and we sat in some pretty awesome seats. The $25 for a round of beers is a tough swallow but whatever. Nice views into the bay. Fishermans Warf is a cool place to hand out. Other notes. I like Wrigley and Fenway. With their history, if your a baseball fan and someone trying to get to some stadiums, they are hard to pass up. I also like the ballpark village at St. Louis, I just cant' stand the Cardinals.
We only have a shot at playing the Cubs in the playoffs in the NLCS. Brewers win division / Cubs get WC2, then Cubs over AZ and winner plays Dodgers. We would play Nationals. Cubs win division / Brewers get WC2, then Brewers over AZ and winner plays Dodgers. Cubs would play Nationals.
Some additional perspective on records of WC1 and WC2 and their final 10 games record) 2016 - Mets 87-75 (7-3) / Giants 87-75 (7-3) 2015 - Cubs 97-65 (8-2) / Pirates 98-64 (6-4) 2014 - Giants 88-74 (4-6) / Pirates 88-74 (6-4) 2013 - Pirates 94-68 (7-3)/ Reds 90-72(4-6) 2012 - Cards 88-74 (7-3)/ Braves 94-68(7-3) If you take the teams # of remaining games and multiply it by the season win % and add that to their current win total you get a record of: AZ = 94-68 Col = 88-74 Cubs = 89-73 StL / Mil = 85-77 I will say the Brewers need to get to 88 wins which means a final 11-5 stretch. This series vs Miami is gigantic as if you sweep, you turn that into 8-5 and a more manageable number. Go Brewers!!!
I was able to get in the $15 range. I made the mistake of trying to select my seats vs just using the best available. Every seat I chose that was "open" came back as unable to purchase
I got some positive vibes this morning. No game today so a chance at least one of the Rockies, Cubs or Cardinals lose. Cubs and Cardinals play 7 games vs each other yet. In addition there are still the 3 Brewers @ Cards and the 4 Cubs @ Brewers games. Currently in a stretch of playing 13 of 16 games at Miller Park. This is exciting! Go Brewers!
I wonder how they will do tickets with such short notice? I assume cost would be reduced. Wonder if full season ticket holders will get their seats "on the house" * Nevermind - read the link too: Tickets will be placed on sale at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 14th. There will be three price levels: $20 for Field Diamond Box, $15 for Field Infield Box, and $10 for all other seating areas. Tickets will be available through Brewers.com/Marlins, the Brewers Box Office or by calling 414-902-4000.
Yep - that sucks Per brewers twitter: @Jimmy_J_Nelson will miss the remainder of the season with a right rotator cuff strain and partial anterior labrum tear.
I'd go Arcia, Walker, Santana, Shaw, Braun, Phillips, Pina, Aguilar Or Phillips, Santana, Shaw, Walker, Braun, Arcia, Aguilar, Pina I also agree with picking a lineup and running with it for a little bit. I feel Counsell tinkers with it daily.
My original intent was to note how many thought it was a no brainer to anoint Villar the everyday 2B and noticed Brigg's comment so I pointed it out. I can't say I really disagreed with handing the rains to Villar, although history begs us to consider that 1 year isn't a large enough sample. Many of us will jump to sample size but for some reason we quickly forget it (me included) when a guy has 1-2 good years. (Bill Hall, Casey McGehee, etc) Then we are surprised when he falls off a cliff. I am glad Stearns didn't trade away major pieces this summer to this exact reason. I am still not all that positive to what we have in Shaw, Pina, to some extent our 1B situation screams of a similar situation. There is no guarantee those guys come back and keep the same production. Maybe Villar turns it around next year, maybe he never does. Maybe another guys falls off the cliff. One just never knows. Anyhow, I think we can close this chapter - sorry to those who were offended for bringing it back up
Bump - good call Briggs, considering most on here were applauding him being let go. I never got it and was always a scooter fan. Maybe next time they will think twice about straight up cutting a career .280 hitter. I mean who honestly does that? For all the good moves Stearns has done, this is one that could have easily been avoided.
