  1. Because baseball is weird, I would put money on one of those teams not making the playoffs. Every year there is a team that totally collapses in the second half.
  2. Major League baseball seams are just about flat compared to any other ball. Very hard to get any movement on. Some of the summer teams I've played against have used them and I very much notice the difference in the way the ball feels, comes off your fingers, and moves.
  3. I get to watch baseball, so I really don't care either way. But I could do without all the "They pulled the starter. What do you think? Comment and let us know" crap.
  4. https://www.yardbarker.com/mlb/articles/scott_boras_calls_for_rule_change_to_address_discriminatory_shifts/s1_127_26736377 Speaking of unfair, anyone else read the interview with Scott Boras where he said it's unfair that teams can shift on left handed batters? Other gems he said include that it's dangerous for the infielders to be playing out of position and it's hard to adapt because players just aren't taught to hit the other way. And this only applies to left handed batters because apparently teams don't shift on righties, which of course we know is not true. As an agent, he does a great job for his clients for the most part. But as a person involved with baseball he really just needs to keep his mouth shut. He says the stupidest things.
  5. This umpire crew should lose it's umpiring license. What a pitiful display this series.
  6. Kepler with a solid Brewer AB there. Pitcher walked everyone and you fly out on the first pitch you see.
  7. He is. Always look forward to games he doesn't do but here he is. Bring back Plesac!!!
  8. Most of what MLB.com puts out is pure crap. Almost on par with the crap ESPN puts out.
  9. Disappointing. Better than most of the crap on TV. Although I had no interest in the Ronnie/British guy love story that it was clearly leading to from the first episode.
  10. It’s not just about being in the lineup everyday. Imagine you have the season Villar had but yet you’re told you need to find a new position for a player that didn’t deserve being there. Not a great confidence booster for you as a player with that organization no matter how you spin it. Not a good sign of mental aptitude of a player either if he gets moved to a different position for a vastly superior defender while still playing everyday but it kills his confidence. The Brewers did everything they could to get Villar in the lineup everyday. It's not like they stuck him on the bench.
  11. Pass on Moose. Get Adrian Beltre if they want a rental 3B.
  12. The Jaguars asked to go there every year, so that's why it happens. But it certainly is weird the Brewers have been on all but like 2 of the facebook games this year. Also weird they are playing a weekday afternoon game not on getaway day. The only other one today is the Cubs, which isn't weird for them.
  13. Who picked Travis Shaw, Brad Miller, Nate Orf, and Jesus Aguilar as the starting infield for a first place Brewer team back in Spring Training?
  14. Sometimes the Rockies give the Orioles a run for their money for worst run franchise. Maybe they'll move him cheap but I doubt it. They have no reason to if he's in the minors.
  15. Saw his BABIP is over .500 this year. That's incredible.
  16. Tampa's whacky pitching is making for some interesting stats. Sergio Romo has 5 starts this year and 8 saves. Very likely he ends up with 10+ of each. There's probably some sort of weird stat in there the media will make a big deal about and shove down our throats come September.
  17. Nottingham can wait. Nothing against him but Stearns has scrambled trying to mix and match going cheap trying to address problems. I mean, Pina can barely hit but he is like problem #4. Let's at least try to solve our greatest problem by finally adding an ace. We have a bunch of starting pitchers that are good journeyman and can pinch us 5 innings, but they get the heck smacked out of them going through the batting order the 3rd time. And we don't have that reliever that can stand in the gap if our starter gets in trouble or only goes 5 innings. We been losing games from inning 5-7. That said, I see the following as our greatest needs. 1. ACE 2. SS/2nd 3. Someone better than Zski or that new pitcher who got clocked today 4. Pina Obviously, DS is going to spend the cash and grab an ACE. That's good news. But I think he will have to at least get us a average infielder. We can't keep relying on Honey I Shrunk the Kids and his .134 avg. Not for a playoff team. The TV announcers will eat us alive if we play a guy who hits below .150. How exactly will an "ACE" help when the offense can barely scratch together 2 runs? Even with that putrid offense the starting pitching keeps us in games. Get a couple bats and the pitching goes from keeping us in games to winning us games.
  18. Gray would be interesting and cost little I would imagine. However, you don't trade for a guy in the middle of a pennant race hoping you can fix him. Offseason, sure. But not now. And I don't even know where you would put him.
  19. Not sure how anyone can defend a guy with a 16 OPS+. Especially over Brad Miller. Sogard's best OPS+ seasons were 102 and 92. His next best? 68. 102 and 92 would be the 4th and 5th best of Miller's career. Defense, ya, Sogard is probably better or the same at worst. But his bat is absolutely terrible, horrible, and a joke for a major leaguer.
