  1. Ya, I noticed that too and thought it was incredibly weird. Only 9 games today, 8 after a rainout. Meaning 12 teams aren't playing. I can understand that the first 6 days or so of the season but not anymore at this point. Then again a bunch of teams had off last Sunday too. I haven't looked at the schedule going forward to see if this is the new norm with more added off days.
  2. Probably the least likely option so far. No way Hader is going to the rotation this year. And even if they did move him he would almost certainly be sent down to be stretched out first. I would guess Albers gets the role for the most part. Hader or Jennings might get the 9th every now and then when the matchups fits.
  3. It sounds like had the RF played in a normal spot the run would have scored easily on a sac fly so they moved him in so the fielder had a shot at the plate. Sounds like a sound strategy to me. Maybe not in the 6th inning but not crazy overall. He just sounds like an idiot trying to rationalize it.
  4. So now that Yelich is injured isn't all the OF depth a good thing?
  5. I don’t think he ever had TJ. He just had the injury that prevented him from throwing. Found this in pre-draft scouting report: His current elbow injury is bad enough that he’s been strictly a DH since last summer. Hiura attempted to avoid Tommy John surgery by receiving a plasma platelet injection this past winter, but it is unclear if the procedure worked or merely postponed the inevitable. The good news is that the elbow pain hasn’t impacted his hitting at all.
  6. Not that it really makes any difference to the topic at hand but Braun was suspended for being linked to Biogenesis in 2013. Not for his positive test in 2011. Seems like some think he was suspended for the positive test and resulting shenanigans.
  7. Isn't having TJ why he DH'd his senior year of college?
  8. Aramis ranked all time among 3B: Hits - 11 2B - 7 HR - 7 RBI - 6 In these categories, most everyone in front of him is already in the Hall of Fame except for Adrian Beltre. I would agree that Aramis does not feel like a HOF'er, nor am I saying that he should be. But he was one of the best offensive 3B of all time.
  9. Not even a question. He is still Top 3 in our history and a good chunk of people still love him (hello female fans). I mean the Marlins retired Jose Fernandez’s number and he was into drugs and essentially kills people. Well I don't think those details were public when they did, but it shows how stupid they were to do it so quickly. And according to wikipedia, the number hasn't been officially retired yet and they will build a memorial instead. But, yes, Braun's number will be retired. Hopefully they wait a few years like the Packers did with Favre though. On the other hand, they might not and say it's because they only retire Hall of Famers numbers and Braun almost certainly isn't getting into the Hall of Fame.
  10. I'll toot the horn for The Detour. Just got around to watching the season 3 finale. Great episode and finally sorted out the two different timelines that my brain hadn't been able to figure out for 3 years. I guess they haven't been given a 4th season yet and it would be a shame if they don't get one. Quite frankly, it's the best comedy writing I've seen since Arrested Development.
  11. Let's say Shaw or Arcia goes down for the year, who takes their spot? I would assume Perez or Villar with Sogard becoming the regular 2B and Orf or Dubon taking the roster spot. Either way Blanco is way down on the depth chart. The only reason this signing is in any way noteworthy is because Tom teased it and people started speculating wildly.
  12. Is that in reference to pinch hitters? The Orioles under Weaver used a lot of Lefty/Righty platoons I believe he was specifically talking about pinch hitters. Although I think there would be value to using it for setting a starting lineup too. For example, Corey Hart should have never started against a RHP who threw a slider.
  13. I don't have a problem with it, but it seems kind of funny because, didn't it just start post 9-11 during a time of ultra patriotism and unity? Now it just seems like nobody wants to be that guy to do away with it, lol. If they'd just skip it, only like 4 people would even notice.
  14. So are you suggesting they shuffle the rotation so Davies never pitches at home?
  15. They've never streamed Brewer games. They don't own the broadcast.
  16. Earl Weaver had an interesting take on matchups. He didn't really care about lefty or righty but more so what the pitcher threw. If he threw hard he would go with a guy that could catch up with the fastball. If he had a good curve he would go with a guy who could handle breaking balls. Unless you have extreme R/L splits that makes more sense to me, especially for late game pinch hitting.
  17. I don't believe this is true at all.
  18. According to Chris Russo, the bad guy in all of this is Brain Snitker because his arguing made Kapler look bad. Give me a freaking break.
  19. Bob should be on TV where he can riff about whatever he wants while totally ignoring the game but people can actually see what's going on.
  20. Pretty much. Are umpires allowed to remove pitchers who don't have control of their fastball because they might injure a batter? I get what the ump was trying to do, but that's not his job. If the pitcher isn't warmed up, too bad. Have him lob a few balls to the batters until he's loose. Yes they are, they get ejected. No they don't. An umpire will only eject a pitcher if it's deemed intentional.
  21. +1 Was at a game in SF a couple years ago and they boo'd Braun. When we pointed out that Barry Bonds guy, most fan gave us the same response as above. And not defiantly so, just laughed it off acknowledging their hypocrisy, because sports. Personally, I don't particularly like Braun. But I do really love when he hits game winning dingers, and will keep rooting for him to do so. To piggyback off that, I don't understand how people can take things pro athletes, entertainers, politicians, etc. do so personally. Those people don't give a crap about you, why waste an ounce of energy on an emotional investment in them?
