  1. Well it is a big spot in the game and we sent out our best pitcher. Its like asking why we would send Braun to pinch hit with the winning run on 3rd. Why would you not? Because of 2 LHB in a row coming up. I would of rather had them face a guy they'd never seen before in Suter than Thornburg. And not to say Suter would have gotten them out but they proceeded to double and walk off of Thornburg.
  2. So what is the logic behind this move? It's not by the book, I guess I'll give Craig that.
  3. What a freaking joke. How can you make a call with any certainty based off of those replays.
  4. A couple weeks ago I questioned why Maldonado throws the ball around so much because I'd never seen him pick off a runner. Well I've now seen it twice in the past few days.
  5. Rock sounds an awful lot like BA praising Rizzo for doing the most basic things a first baseman can do defensively.
  6. When you spend basically 9 straight months with the same people you're going to get on each others nerves and stuff is going to happen. Throw in that veterans are generally given a free pass to be dicks to young guys (like above) and it's tough to really figure out who the bad guy is in some incidents. If Puig really was turning players against each other that certainly is an issue but it also doesn't reflect well on the coaching staff or the player leaders on the team either that let it happen. In regards to the Pierzynski story, I am in no way giving him a free pass but we've all had those situations where something really painful happens to us and when someone asks if we are ok our first reaction is take it out on them in some way. I'm sure most of us have even done exactly what he did at least once after we've gotten hit in the nuts.
  7. The league is punishing the organization by letting Preller keep his job. Seriously, no one is the organization told him this was a bad idea. It sounds like he was very open about it.
  8. I've seen a lot made the last couple years on this board about not wanting a certain player because he's a cancer, clubhouse killer, etc. There are plenty of players in baseball history that had a reputation like that with plenty of evidence to back it up like Barry Bonds. But, and I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, can some of these accusations be backed up with significant evidence? Just because a reporter reports some anonymous people think a player has issues doesn't make it true or as bad as reported. We've all known people in our lives who have a terrible reputation but you can't see it in your dealings with them. So these guys like Puig, Pierzynski, Latos, etc. who some fans think are scum because of whatever reports, what evidence is there to prove this is true? Like I said, this isn't a gotchya or anything like that, I'm really curious if there is any real truth to this or do most guys gets their reputations from unsubstantiated claims made by anonymous people.
  9. Nothing about either of those shots looks even a little accidental. It wasn't just a collision where they were both running to the same spot he clearly reached out and grabbed the player. I can't think of any reason for an umpire to do that. I'm not accusing him of cheating or malice but what he did there was clearly with purpose.
  10. My computer is too crappy to try to post a link to it but in yesterday's Pirates game the first base umpire literally grabbed their second baseman as he went to cover first on a double play. The runner was barely safe at first and a run scored that wouldn't have had the batter been out at first. The SS hesitated for a split second because there was no one at first probably preventing the double play. After Hurdle making the umps talk about it they let it go. I'm not sure how or if there is a rule covering umpires intentionally interfering with a play but it was truly bizarre. You can tell the rest of the crew was baffled as well because while Hurdle was really giving it to the umpire they just mingled about with the players. Normally the crew chief or someone else would try and get Hurdle away but they all just stood there and watched.

  12. Seriously? Davis has 37 HR and 90 RBI, both would lead the Brewers. I was upset with the deal when it happened and I still am. I said at the time they were trading a 40 HR bat (which a lot of people disputed) with control through 2019 for no major league talent in return and that unless Nottingham were the real deal, they got robbed. Davis has some flaws, but he's a now a proven premier power bat as opposed to last winter when he his status was as an emerging power bat with potential to be a premier one. Proven premier controllable power bats in their prime are a lot more valuable than a decent but no sure thing catching prospect and a B-C type lower level arm. The dead horse called. It wants you to stop beating it.
  13. Maybe, but they wouldn't have had to make a move until after the trade was completed so probably not.
  14. I highly disagree. The Dodgers were the only team the Brewers got that close with and the only other team on his no-trade list that has had interest is the Giants. The talks with the Giants didn't appear to get very far. It sound like talks with the Braves got pretty interesting(Chipper Jones getting involved), but Braun can block a trade there. Sure doesn't sound like there are many teams interested in Braun with the Dodgers/Braves being the only teams getting serious. Dodgers go a different route and its questionable if a deal would happen. Everyone thought Lucroy was all but gone before the season and he was here opening day. It only takes one team in order for Braun to be gone. Also, the majority of people thought Lucroy was gone by the start of the season but also knew he could very we'll be here in April and if he was still here he was 100% gone by the deadline. He would have been gone by April but offers were low ball due to the concussion. If the Braun to LA deal was almost completed, to the point he stayed behind in LA, then why wouldn't it happen in the offseason when the parts were basically agreed upon? Nobody's kicking down the door for Puig right now and Braun is a great talent they're getting in return. Who else is going to give up an All-Star caliber player to take on Puig just to land a couple strong prospects? Small sample but Puig's OPS is almost 1.500 since his callup. If he can do even half that the rest of the season and playoffs plenty of teams will be interested if the Dodgers even want to move him anymore.
  15. Wasn't one of Jones or Walsh technically a trade with the team that selected him in the rule 5 since I don't think teams are able to pick two players in the Rule 5 draft.
  16. Totally pointless move. He's barely a catcher anymore and not much of a hitter for 1B. Not to mention he'll offer nothing to the team when they are competitive in a couple years. I suppose if the Yankees wants to just dump his contract I'll take Frazier off their hands as well for the privilege of paying Mr. Cranky Pants to police the game. Otherwise, no.
  17. Too rich for my blood. Pretty much every catcher in MLB sucks aside from like the top 3 or 4. Putting any resources other than a draft pick into one is a waste in my opinion. Keep churning through guys like Maldonado and Susac and eventually they'll develop/luck into someone who's actually talented.
  18. Before this season Segura had two or three really good months, a few average ones scattered in there, and the rest were downright terrible. He showed zero signs of improvement in Milwaukee as he flailed away at the first or second just about every at bat without making any changes. Maybe it was the change in scenery or maybe it was the change in coaching. I don't buy his son dying being a huge reason because he was pretty bad well before he was even conceived. Either way I was glad to see him traded and we'll see if he can repeat what he's doing next year.
  19. Well I'm done. Here's to hoping Yadi breaks his leg before the game is over.
  20. The Cardinals can suck an egg and all sorts of other things. Hate them, hate them, hate them.
  21. One run only ties it and a hit gives up the lead. So just get the out. If they played infield in there they're down 2-1 right now.
