  1. Braun's back so I doubt they make any moves. I've said it before, throw Scooter in the corners for a few innings. So what if he fails? If he succeeds he'll at least have a little bit of versatility.
  2. Anything front office people say to the media is either lying or worthless. I'll never understand why people latch onto the things they say as some sort of real insight into anything.
  3. I'm with you. Where I coach our coaching staff is 50/50 teachers and non-teachers. Before practice one day this spring two of the teachers were throwing a fit about teacher things. The things while generally, but not specifically, were the same crap I'd dealt with at a couple previous jobs and have heard numerous people in other professions complain about in my lifetime. One teacher said he didn't know if he wanted to come back next year. When they were done I told them, you guys know that pretty much every job sucks right? They both nodded in agreement.
  4. With the one wild card format, the only time a playoff isn't used is in a tie for a division title if both teams would also be a wild card. Then it goes to some tiebreaker. I would assume it's still done that way.
  5. Would I take a Braves top prospect and McCann for Carlos Leal? Yes. But there's no way that would ever be offered. This is true since McCann plays for the Yankees.
  6. I'm sure every fan thinks their team gets screwed. I will say though that in general the reviews I've seen this year have been overall questionable at best for both teams. It would be nice if they had a way to let fans know why they made the decision they made like in football.
  7. According to what was posted earlier in this thread by someone else, Colorado Springs dumped the Rockies. Probably because they were fielding crappy teams.
  8. Seems like this team had to get in a few rolls in the hay before they headed out for Spring Training.
  9. One does not need to watch Nottingham to know he had a horrid year behind the dish. 21 passed balls, 15 errors, and a CS% of just 29% is really bad. That is WAY too much and needs to start improving on. The real question is did he do anything well? Blocking skills obviously don't show up on the stats sheet nor does his game calling(the former I have heard is shaky at best). If those things were half decent at least he would have something going for him. The few times I saw mentions on his defense this year it was pretty similar to what was said before the season. Still very questionable and not much improvement on last year which is not a great sign. Still has athletic ability and youth on his side to keep hope alive. My biggest concern is the fact how much he needs to improve. A full MLB season and he would be at 25ish passed balls. Honestly there is no excuse for that to be over 10 for an MLB catcher and even that seems steep. The errors took a huge spike this year for whatever reason. Once again that number should be 5-10 not 15. Then you have his CS% which was 29% which is livable, however a catchers CS% usually goes down as he climbs the ladder so that number would be lower than 29% if he had MLB guys running on him daily. He needs a ton of improvement plus his bat really needs to shine since his defense is going to be average at best. Honestly it gets to be a Clint Coulter situation where you contemplate just moving him so he can just focus on offense. If he doesn't make any strides next year I think that is what should be done. When the Great Khris Davis was the same age as Nottingham is right now, Davis played for the Rookie Level Arizona Brewers, and he wasn't all that special. Any concerns over Nottingham's bat are rather premature. Nottingham is over 6 months younger than our most recent 1st round draft pick Corey Ray. Ray turns 22 this week. I fail to see where anyone is having concerns about his bat.
  10. He's good at making comedy tweets and silly 25 second videos but does he have actual experience calling a game or doing reporting?
  11. Who is more responsible for affiliations, the farm team or the parent club? I don't know but reading about our situation it seems that the minor league team has the most say in who they join up with. It sucks that we're getting stuck in crappy places but it seems to me like it's more bad luck than any fault of the Brewers. It's not like the Brewers have 30 options to chose from at each level every year. There are only so many teams available every year and when you figure half of those are almost guaranteed to just reup with their current club you're left with 2 or 3 choices. Like I said, it sucks, but we'll get through it.
  12. He is good at hitting home runs. We know that. Do you acknowledge his short comings ever? I'm notnsure I've ever seen it. What shortcomings? Look at all the RBI's!!!
  13. I was just surprised it was Jaha at 2B. You can't tell me a roided up rock like him was any better than even 50% of Yount.
  14. Classic LaRussa led team right there. Too bad there aren't more opposing coaches that take a stand when crap like this happens. The most interesting thing to me was why did they move Yount to 1B and put Jaha at 2B? The other way around seems more logical.
  15. I feel the same way about Braun as I did about Lucroy. Both can't/couldn't get their value any higher than present. Both have rather large injury risks that would derail any chance of getting a good return. Move them while you can. I'd rather take the chance that he can bring back 2 or 3 good to very good players than keep one great player through a couple losing seasons and maybe one competitive one.
  16. They don't care about prospects, they care about winning. And you know the two are more times than not correlated, right? Take a look at the composite record thread. I wouldn't say there is no correlation but there is very little.
  17. So they will basically get off scot free which is what myself and many others have been saying all along. I can sort of understand the draft picks issue with the players union, except these guys aren't members until they're on a 40 man roster, so taking away draft pool money has zero impact and players union members.
  18. I've always felt the Brewers were way too conservative. Every now and then they'll get aggressive with someone but for the most part they seem like they are in no hurry to move guys along.
  19. We got our second quote today. Half as much as the first one. This guy was very personable, not a salesmen at all. Just some old guy looking to shoot the breeze.
  20. It's been what at least a week since Colorado Springs played so I doubt anyone gets brought up but I wouldn't mind giving Brinson or Wren or Reed a week in the bigs. I guess we need to get ready for the Santana/Newendude/Elmore outfield we've all been clamoring for.
  21. His is an interesting case that sort of supports one of my earlier points. After he choked Harper in the dugout how many fans and players came to his defense because "Harper was just an annoying kid mouthing off to a veteran"? Fans and the media give veteran players a pass all the time when they have issues with young players because these kids "don't know their place". In most instances both parties share blame but the younger guy will get the blunt of the negativity because he's young and should just kowtow to whatever a veteran player wants to inflict on him.
  22. There are rules about stadium capacities for AAA for sure, probably other levels. AAA is the only level where the leagues aren't "regionalized" so there's no way it would happen for that reason. Colorado Springs is no where near any other low A league so no league would allow it to happen due to travel.
  23. I see 1,000 commercials for Feldco during every Brewer game. Anyone ever use them?
  24. Both sports have international world championships. The Hockey World Cup starts this weekend.
  25. Not a Suter fan but a lefty vs lefty fan. Especially against Heyward who is a generally terrible hitter and has been facing basically the same pitcher all game. I'd rather he face a soft tossing lefty than Thornburg throwing more of what Heyward's been seeing.
