  1. I've always wondered how the superstars of a generation ago are doing financially now since they made so little compared to today's stars. There's certainly appearance fees and other things they can do to profit off of their legacy but I can't imagine that pays enough to afford to live the same lifestyle they did when they played.
  2. Did we just score a runner from third with less than 2 outs?
  3. I can't give you an answer for right now but there'll be a dispute with some other channel in the future so there's that.
  4. Don't they still make it though? I thought I saw it at the grocery store recently.
  5. Now his family has $200,000 to squabble over instead.
  6. Wilkins stayed around for quite awhile and did absolutely nothing so I think we can forget about the whole pension thing. Also, the Blue Jays just optioned Aaron Sanchez to single A for the same reason the Brewers optioned Davies. Sanchez agreed with it and even said if they were going to skip one of his starts he might as well get sent down so the team can bring someone up to help.
  7. I've only got to watch a few of Garza's starts this year and while I don't think he's pitching great I don't really see him pitching as bad as everyone makes it out to be. His velocity hasn't dropped all that much and most of his pitches were down yesterday. Ultimately, yes, you're going to be judged on the runs you give up but he is no where near a Wolf, Suppan, or Lohse-esque disaster.
  8. Weeks was a disaster on defense. Broxton is light years better. If he can hit as good as Weeks did we're looking at one hell of a player. I'll never understand how a guy who's hands were as fast as Rickie's were could constantly take fastballs down the middle of the plate and then flail at breaking pitches out of the strike zone.
  9. I'll have to watch the replay again but it didn't look horrendous to me. I was expecting some Rene Rivera quality running when he was called out.
  10. I sort of take back what I said. That was real ticky tack but I loved that Counsell actually seemed pissed about it.
  11. Bench Villar, suspend him, something. He clearly just doesn't get it.
  12. It might be worth bringing in Oswaldo for that test alone. Better to find out about bigger problems earlier then at the last moment... I'm sorry but that's a dumb reason. Let's mess with his family to see what happens.
  13. Just say no. I really see no advantage to signing Gomez and I am a die hard flipper guy. He's been terrible for a year and a half and his defense is not what it used to be. Watching Gomez and Villar on the same team would be torture to me.
  14. Keon looked like he had no idea how to play baseball his first few times up. His at bats were embarrassing to watch. Results notwithstanding, he seems comfortable and confident at the plate now. A 180 from how he started the year.
  15. The third time through was a bunt hit, jam shots, bloopers, and a Cano homer that was hit hard but it was a pitch that was probably off the plate. Not to mention the Brewers defense was brutal through throughout the game. I'm not going to say he pitched well because his control was shaky at best but to say he was hit hard just isn't true.
  16. There's nothing worse than when a team nickel and dimes you like that. Even the homeruns were a golf swing and a pitch in off the plate. Nothing you can do about that.
  17. So if they reviewed that 3rd out the runner has to be safe right? It made absolutely no difference on the play but Pina was straddling home plate without the ball for a long time. It's stupid but he would have to be safe wouldn't he?
  18. Ya, his second fly out is probably a homerun in most parks. His first one is a homer in Houston for sure. Maybe not anywhere else.
  19. He was poo-pooed by most posters in the thread about his last release and I would assume the same will happen here. He's a Doug Melvin guy who can hit the ball far but offers nothing else. Stearns has done a good job at getting rid of those guys (Carter excluded) so I can't imagine him picking one up.
  20. Not even close to the same. Those guys are AAAA 25th man roster filler who almost certainly will not be Brewers next year.
  21. That is a really wide range of talents there. So he is not somewhere between average and potential HOF? I expect Arcia will probably match Weeks 11 career WAR. My point is people are expecting a guy who can really hit. Arcia will never come close to matching any of those offensively and many fans will see him as a failure because of it.
