  1. What kind of data plans does everyone have? I know between my wife and I we probably won't be using a ton of data and you can find wifi just about anywhere you go nowadays.
  2. So to have trade value we must ignore MLB production and worry about how he was rated as a prospect? I have never heard, after 1,000 MLB plate appearances, a players trade value be effected by his prospect ranking. Unless of course you are a big time prospect that still has potential to grow. But to have your prospect ranking negatively effect you well into your MLB career? That just seems unreal. Where he was as a prospect doesn't matter ( except other way around where a once star prospect with little mlb success will still have higher value based on potential) I was just using that as to explain him as a player. He is absolutely nothing special. He may hit .250 with 25 hrs with ton of Ks, not many walks, no speed, no arm, okay fielding. As a GM in no way would I be say man we need this guy! Let's give up a guy whose potential far outweighs his and throw in another guy who may pan out. He was a lower ranked prospect for the same reason he isn't anything special now. Not saying another team won't value him because where he was ranked. Except that two GM's already have as has been pointed out with Cespedes (traded twice) and Gattis.
  3. Um, what are you talking about?
  4. The Royals are a good team but it also helps that their division is pretty bad right now and the Tigers are starting to turn into the Phillies circa 2012. The next couple years look pretty bleak for everyone but the Royals. Maybe Cleveland can turn it around but the Royals should be winning that division for at least the next 3 years.
  5. One is. The other Scott Service (two different spellings I believe) was a pitcher. I imagine Doug's role going forward will be that he walks into the office every morning, has a cup of coffee, waves to a couple people, chats about what happened last night on The Bachelor with a receptionist, and is gone and on the golf course by 11:30.
  6. xisxisxis only reason to live is to come to BF.net and crap on everybody.
  7. Just like the research we've already done, all you're help is informative but doesn't really help us make a decision. I think for me an iPhone would be best. I'm familiar with Apple products and use a Mac. My wife uses Windows and is usually lost if she tries to use my laptop for anything. However, she uses iTunes and has an iPod and I'm sure will be doing a lot of whatever things you can do with those things together.
  8. So my wife and I are going to join the 21st century on Saturday and get smartphones. She's been doing all kinds of research and has no clue what we should get. Neither do I. We know we won't be getting the latest version of whatever we get because we don't want to spend that kind of money. As for what we are going to use them for the most, I know my wife will be taking lots of pictures. I shutter to think about how many more selfies I'm going to be forced to be in after Saturday. For me the biggest thing will using it for my business so email, calendar, etc. I'd also like to use one of the many baseball scoring apps I've found. Of the people I know it's probably 50/50 iPhone/Andriod so what are your pros and cons for each?
  9. I would hope not. The guy has only been on the job a few months. Let him do his magic with what he's good at for awhile longer.
  10. I would like to see this picture used on the in game threads when the Brewers do something stupid. Gomez is gone so it should be only once a game.
  11. There has to be something we can do with this, right? http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/0/0/2/142128002/cuts/counsell_f3owd4cr_arh678v1.jpg
  12. I'm with you but mainly so that I can see the scores of all the games at once instead of having to try and catch it at the right time. I suppose smart phones have made out of town score boards basically pointless but I haven't advanced that far yet.
  13. All sports talk on radio or TV is terrible. Especially when it comes to baseball.
  14. All those years of thinking La Russa is the reason have been proven wrong. The Cardinals are still the Cardinals and the Dbacks are probably worse now than when Tony went there.
  15. Isn't Miller Park pretty neutral over all? Not at all. I looked up park factors, and for avg runs MP is 4th this year, 5th in 2013, 7th in 2012. Last year was an anomaly, where MP was in the middle. But just about every other year, it is clearly a hitters park. I've never felt Miller Park was a hitters park and I've been meaning to look the numbers up for a while. How much of a hitters park is it? It doesn't seem like more offense happens there than on the road.
  16. Just watched it again and it looks like he might have stepped on 2B. It's tough to tell because the base is in the sun and everything around it is bright white. If it did count, that might be the first 4-8 putout in baseball history. Also, if it did count it's no longer a force at third so I don't know how you would figure that mess out. Is the runner out because he's out of the baseline?
  17. I thought that too but they didn't touch 2b. They just threw it to a guy near 2b who then threw it first and touched first and then walked to third and touched the base.
  18. Segura's numbers aren't great but his approach at the plate is terrible. I think if it was better more people would at least have some hope for him.
  19. If a security guard didn't throw the ball in from the outfield I think the Reds would have a legitimate gripe and the run wouldn't count and the game would have to be continued at a later date (but probably wouldn't be played since the game is meaningless for both teams). I know high school rules are different but I've been involved in games where a bases loaded walk brings in the game ending run and the umpires always make sure the batter touches first and the runner from third touches home but never make a deal about the other runners.
  20. I came here to ask about the call. Joe Block was pretty adamant he was safe during the challenge and then complained about how replay has gotten the call wrong twice during this series after the call was confirmed.
  21. I would put PETCO ahead of Miller Park because of where it is situated. It's a fantastic downtown. If Miller Park could somehow create a Park at the Park that would be awesome.
  22. Yup your mail has to go to a regional center or something before it can go to the recipient. We had this problem in my very small city a year or so ago. The local high school's letters to parents came late and people we very upset. The letters(that were given to the local post office) had to take a 2.5hour trip to St Paul before making a return trip back. Weird guidelines they have to follow. That seems weird. I send inter-city letters all the time that make it there next day. Pretty much anywhere in Wisconsin is the next day.
  23. 1. Put a winning team on the field. 2. Get rid of whatever is in the walkway in RCF. I remember when Miller Park first opened I went to a game with a friend and we had nose bleed seats. We hated them so we went and stood and watched the game in RCF. It was great. Now it's gated and you can't watch there. 3. Yes, to more standing room areas. There are only a few left and they are packed the whole game. 4. There is no way to change this anymore but I always feel like I'm inside, whether the roof is closed or open. The sides of the stadium are so high that you can never get the feel of actually being outside.
  24. They might have tried to claim him. Didn't the A's claim him meaning Milwaukee never even had a chance to claim him?
  25. They traded Chris Johnson to Cleveland for Micheal Bourne and Nick Swisher. Cleveland is throwing in a bunch of cash to even it out. Basically they made the move to get out of the last year of Johnson's contract as he's sign through 2017 while Bourne and Swisher are signed through 2016.
