  1. Does anyone think they do think of these things when making the schedule? You can wonder/believe in it. Schedule Makers obviously consider Spring Games and awarding teams with Domes with more Home games April/May. Teams down South will get more Home games then too. Minnesota types that can't fend off snow/spring rain get less home games. I'd guess an easy reason why Milw is playing Miami in Miami in Sept. All the years I've transferred to work in Miami there's never been a Brewer game in April/May...and voila! Next season there will be?!? Wow, and they schedule Min/Milw series in April. That is incredible to have a 10game homestand to finish August and then only play 9games Total in Sept/Oct. Mileage is also the big thing in working these schedules. Not having an East coast and West Coast series on the same trip. Personally, I'd guess a randomizer system that creates Schedules with Little tidbits of presets...Like in division games happen in April/Sept more. Click randomize. They'd look at some stats that's produced like Miles traveled by teams. Something sticks out wrong.(a midwest team traveling 400k mile more than any other) Click randomize again. And do this til something looks remotely fair. Read the links posted earlier, they are very interesting. Even a computer can't get it right.
  2. Tuesday has passed and no call. Can't say I'm surprised.
  3. According to Gameday, some of those calls were pretty bad and I think the zone got bigger after Jennings got thrown out.
  4. They are playing all the worst teams in the NL in a row. Of course they are going to win a few games.
  5. He has been beyond pitcher-batting bad against lefties. Scooter has a .295 OPS against lefties so far. Herrera's is .654.
  6. This is like the exercise where we all sit in a circle. I whisper something to jerichoholicninja, who whispers the message to clancy, who whispers the message to markedman5, who whispers the message to hawing, etc. The message finally gets back to me and it's completely different. Here's how Drew Silva directly references the article by Adam McCalvy. Adam tells it slightly — but significantly — differently. "Asked Garza to pitch out of the bullpen" implies that the Brewers made a direct request for him to so so. "Refused an offer to pitch out of the bullpen" indicates that Garza turned down an optional opportunity. Todd Rosiak paraphrases Doug Melvin. His take is more in line with McCalvy's. The moral of the story is that you have to investigate what you read because writers don't necessarily care about accuracy. The way I read it when I first saw it was that he was told he was out of the rotation but if he wanted to pitch out of the bullpen he could. Somehow that became Garza refusing to play. I'm not sure which is true but it seems like writers are trying to make a story where there really wasn't one.
  7. Sorry, but I can't go along with the stop winning crowd. The young players are playing well (which is why they are winning) and I don't hold a top 10 pick in any higher regard than any other pick other than 1 or 2. I don't care if they win or lose at this point, but I'm not rooting for losses either.
  8. I'll play devil's advocate on this one. He's been a starter his whole career. To ask him to do something he's never done before for the last 3 weeks of the season seems a little unreasonable. Putting him in the mopup role wouldn't do any good for him as he probably doesn't know how to prepare for pitching a completely random schedule. Honestly, the more I think about it, if the organization flat out told him he was going to pitch out of the bullpen I'm going to side with Matt on this one. It's not like Lohse who's not coming back next year and he needed to do something to make sure he has a job somewhere in 2016. Matt is signed to be here and the organization should have just told him to shut it down and get healed up and fresh for next year since he will be counted on to hold down a rotation spot or at least pitch well enough to be traded. Like I said earlier, putting Garza in the bullpen does absolutely nothing to help him or the organization.
  9. Because he really hasn't shown anything. A .720 OPS with 10 homeruns between two pretty hitter friendly stops isn't very impressive. Even his career minor league OPS is .730. His "breakout" MLB season with Houston was only 20 HR's and a sub .700 OPS. I just don't think his bat is every going to be anything special.
  10. Don't worry. Zimmerman is not going to be playing for Milwaukee next year. The only reason people keep advocating for him is because he's from Wisconsin and they assume he's going to take a "hometown discount" to play here. Not gonna happen. And when Jungmann, Nelson, Peralta, and two of Davies, Hader, Suter, Ortega, Cravy, Thornburg, and Lopez could fill out the rotation cheap... why spend $14-18 million on Zimmerman? I'd rather trade for Prince Fielder if I'm gonna blow that sorta cash. That too. IF the Brewers were going to spend big money on a player for next year, the rotation is one of the last places they should spend it. There are much more pressing positions of need.
  11. There is already a thread about almost this exact same trade proposal. It's not getting any love there either.
  12. Don't worry. Zimmerman is not going to be playing for Milwaukee next year. The only reason people keep advocating for him is because he's from Wisconsin and they assume he's going to take a "hometown discount" to play here. Not gonna happen.
  13. Everything I've read said they want Ramirez back and he wants to come back.
  14. Give the guy some time to cool down. You can't blame him for being angry about the situation. Everyone is making a bigger deal about this than it really is. He's a competitor who's had a terrible year and this is a whole season's worth of frustrations coming out. Ultimately Garza's reaction is, and will be going forward, a non-story. He'll be back in the rotation in 2016.
  15. I'm pretty sure a perfect game is just 27 up, 27 down with no one reaching base. Whatever else happens is irrelevant.
  16. Called this afternoon and got the so and so just stepped out they'll call back in a few minutes. Never happened. Called again before they closed and was told they are still trying to figure out the pay rate "so that it is fair for everyone" and they will talked with so and so on Tuesday when they are back in. When I called this afternoon I spoke with that person. You couldn't have talked about it after that? I really wish I didn't have the combination of hating my current job so much and loving so many things about this potential job so I can tell them to just forget it. They also said they would call me back on Tuesday. So far their track record for calling me back AT ALL when they say they will is 0 for every time.
  17. It boggles my mind that Major League teams aren't at least providing meals for these guys. How much would it really cost a big league club to hire a chef or nutritionist for each team to provide meals? How is that any different than an athletic trainer?
  18. Even more gloriousness from this game. One of the Dodgers relievers was promoted from AA for game 2 and drove himself there.
  19. Also to be fair, it was sort of forced because of an injury to Cravy and not just a token start because these games are meaningless.
  20. He seems like the prototypical all or nothing Brewer hitter. Hopefully that .373 career minor league OBP starts the show itself in the bigs.
  21. I agree with the reasoning but that is a slap in the face to those who planned to go to that game because it was Fan Appreciation.
  22. Wrong and not even close. Gennett career vs LHP .121/.145/.150 Herrera career vs LHP .228/.278/.367
  23. It's not the batter's fault the ump gave him time. Every one of those is on the ump and one of the Brewers coaches should have been tossed but they really didn't seem to care too much.
  24. JB's been riding the "Give Parra a QO" train for months now despite the fact it wasn't going to happen. I'll take Davies over a sandwhich pick any day. Heck, Davies has already gotten further than most first round picks ever will.
  25. Not only that, Greinke very well could have preferred living on the west coast vs Milwaukee. I certainly would have and i've lived most of my life in Wisconsin, but despise the climate here. He also has a wife who may have preferred living in LA vs Wisconsin for a variety of reasons besides climate. 2. If they have a family, do the wife and kids want to stay where they are, move elsewhere, or don't care that much either way. Stuff like this gets said all the time about players, but how many players actually live year round where they play? Seems like every road trip Rock says so and so lives here so they get to sleep in their own bed tonight. If playing where you live was that big of a deal shouldn't players be knocking down the door to play for the Diamondbacks?
