  1. That's good news...hope it works out for you. And yes, the things some companies now make prospective job applicants go through are pretty ridiculous. I think the era of online applications has made things worse, especially for the unemployed. Oh gosh, don't even get me started on that crap.
  2. Since he can't play in the playoffs I don't think they would really have that much interest and then when you consider 1B and DH are occupied next year and they have that Bird kid, I just can't see it happening.
  3. My sentiments exactly. I doubt he gets called up, they will basically have a handful of AA games for him to look at. I still think the main reason for the claim is because Schaefer will be non-tendered this offseason.
  4. I can't see Montgomery going to Boston. Dembrowski is certainly just looking for a yes man that the media can blame instead of himself when his moves don't work out.
  5. It's probably because Lucroy has a concussion, Santana hasn't sat a game since his callup, and Braun needs a day off every now and then.
  6. I'm not opposed to trading Davis but he's not arby eligible for another season and he's controlled for 4 more years. I would think 2016 offseason would be his peak trade value.
  7. I think the Twins could have some interest in Garza. SP seems to be where they are the most lacking, although I'm not sure how much of an upgrade Garza could be over what they already have. I was looking at their roster for a bad contract they could swap for Garza and really all I see is Mauer who I want no part of and Ricky Nolasco who is a worse version of Garza.
  8. What industry or type of career are you pursuing? Maybe someone here can help. Not all employers are like that, jerking prospective applicants around needlessly...it sounds like maybe you just need to broaden your search outside of a narrow niche, maybe? No, believe me I've covered every type of industry. For profit, not for profit, schools, government, large businesses, small businesses, it's pretty much all been the same result. My uncle went through the same thing a couple years ago after he was laid off with his job search for a totally different type of work. I remember my immediate family (none of whom have had to look for a job in 15+ years) being shocked and appalled that my uncle who had almost 20 years of experience was going through the same things I was. And to be honest, I don't think most of them believed me before. As for the job at hand, they actually got a hold of me yesterday and want me to come in next week to discuss salary and compensation so maybe this is actually going to happen.
  9. I've got Brady on my fantasy team so I was upset when I saw that because I didn't think the offense could advance the ball after recovering its own fumble but it all worked out in the end.
  10. For those that feel he should just go to the bullpen and figure it out, I don't know how you can expect a guy to go do something he's never done before to get better. That'd be like telling a slumping Braun we're not going to start you but instead are going to give you a pinch at bat every 3 games Lohse seems to be doing just fine with it. And pitching out of the bullpen to me is different than pinch-hitting every few days. You're still an active member of the pitching staff, just in a different role. Lohse didn't have a choice. It was bullpen and attempt to salvage your career or be out of a job. Garza could go to the pen and the change in routine to get ready to pitch causes him to get hurt or change his mechanics or he hurts himself throwing all out because he's only going one inning. Garza is going to be in a rotation next year, in Milwaukee or not. I just don't see how having him throw a few garbage time innings this year is going to be any good for him or the team.
  11. Just goes to show how unpredictable and random baseball can be at times. Here the Pirates have the 2nd best record in all of baseball, but any chance that they desperately want of catching the Cardinals, winning the division, and thus avoiding the one game Wild Card play in game arguably could have been killed by losing 7 straight to the last place Brewers. They are going to hate us even more if the Pirates end up losing the division by only say two games and then lose to the Cubs in the Wild Card game. They should hate their own team for losing to a crap team like the Brewers so many times.
  12. Trading Lind this offseason is like throwing a draft pick in the deal too. Lind should be getting a QO after '16 as long as he's healthy I'd think. You want to offer a 33.5 year old injury prone 1st baseman somewhere around $16mil for one year? That would be really risky to assume they could do that. I can't imagine more than a 2 year deal and what will he need to do to get that? Another stellar season and a clean bill of health...a lot to ask for from Lind. Would Lind even be confident enough to get 2/$25mil somewhere to pass up on the QO? Lind has been very good for us and he was recently with the Jays, but teams probably still view him as a platoon guy with injury problems. That and a player getting well into his 30s. I'm not saying the Brewers make the QO, the acquiring team would. And, yes, I think a team would. Any team would rather have Lind for 1 year at $16M than multiple years at $12M each.
  13. Why can't Adam Lind be 5 years younger? It's so nice to watch a hitter instead of a the hackers the Brewers have been rolling out for years.
  14. Trading Lind this offseason is like throwing a draft pick in the deal too. Lind should be getting a QO after '16 as long as he's healthy I'd think.
  15. Logan is arby eligible for the first time this year which means he's going to get a little more expensive. I can't imagine much more since he's done squat in the majors. I would guess only one of Logan and Daniel will be on the 40 man next year, possibly even neither.
  16. via MLB At Bat update. Looks like a CF. Played one game for Detroit this year going 1 for 3 with a double. Underwhelming offensive numbers in AAA.
  17. Moving Braun to first kills the value for Lind because it makes it obvious the Brewers want to move Lind. The value they'd get in return would potentially be less. But if the Brewers move Braun to third, their leverage increases. In any case, who are the viable options at third for the next three to four years? Hernan Perez? Jean Segura? Nathan Orf? I'd rather have Braun's bat there, especially if the Brewers can find out which of Santana, Reed, Phillips, Peterson, and Roache can stick. If 2016 is a lost season, how are the Brewers hurt by putting Braun at third and finding out what the young outfielders can do? It makes a ton of sense to me. A team that wants Lind isn't going to change their offer because Braun is playing first. Every other team knows that the Brewers are rebuilding and Lind almost certainly isn't part of that rebuilding.
  18. This sort of thing happens often with players with playing time incentives in their contracts. The player becomes terrible and gets upset when they don't play as much because they won't reach their incentives. These clauses are made with the intent of rewarding health not performance. It almost happened with Weeks. It was getting close to happening with Chase Utley before he got hurt. Once again, I think we are all making too much of this. Garza knows he was playing poorly and also knows that the Brewers quite possibly cost him a lot of money. I don't blame him for being mad. If the team was in a playoff race I don't think he'd be having the same reaction. He'd probably agree with the move. But these games don't count and because, he at least says, he's healthy he should be in the rotation but I understand why he's not. The last couple games I've watched he's been in the dugout and been the first guy to congratulate someone when they score, hit a homerun, etc. Everyone on the team and in the office has moved past this and it's a non-story. For those that feel he should just go to the bullpen and figure it out, I don't know how you can expect a guy to go do something he's never done before to get better. That'd be like telling a slumping Braun we're not going to start you but instead are going to give you a pinch at bat every 3 games for the rest of the season and hope you figure your swing out. The best thing for Garza is to not pitch until Spring Training 2016 to clear his mind and get healed up.
  19. Has it always been this damn hard to get a job? Literally every place I've dealt with has been this same crap. I'm sick of getting lied to, ignored, jerked around.
  20. He's caught Pena more than Maldonado has so it makes sense.
  21. I'd imagine the only thing they would be able to do is fine him for the rest of the season if he refuses to pitch. It's also pretty sketchy whether he refused to pitch or declined an offer. Two vastly different things.
  22. I decided to compare Santana's swing to Braun's in my quick analysis because I would agree that Santana's swing does look different an everyone is raving about his bat speed. (Side note; I think Braun has one of the most perfect swings I have ever seen. The position of his body at point of contact just looks perfect to me) ... Anyhow, I just watched 3 of Santana's HR's (all opposite field) and compared it to a HR from Braun. From what I can tell, when Santana and Braun reach the point of contact their right arm is angled, left arm is almost extended, hips are open, knee is locked, and closely after the swing their arms reach full extension. From that, you would say their swing is identical but it isn't at all. Santana stands very tall before and during his swing and keeps his hands lower. Braun stands tall before the swing but during the swing, he gets into a more natural hitters stance with his leg stride. He also keeps his hands held high. Outside of those differences, I do think Santana swings "hard" vs Braun who has a more natural glide through the zone. Braun really sits back on the ball and springs on it using all of his kinetic energy. Santana just seems to stand tall and use his length to get leverage, swing hard and really help him drive the ball to the opposite field. Two different swings but getting very similar results. This could be quite the tag team for the next few years. Santana's swing remind me of Jason Heyward's. Heyward has a terrible looking swing because he brings the bat head through so early and makes contact generally at his front hip or further back. If you watch Braun, he makes contact in front of his body when he pulls or goes up the middle. Both Heyward and Braun are pretty good hitters, so different strokes for different folks I guess but I've always thought Heyward was losing a lot of power by not getting extension, maybe Santana too. But what do I know, I'm a pitching coach, not a hitting coach.
  23. That would be great but do you trade him or keep him? Will he still be that player or even a high .800 OPS player in two or three years when this team is ready to compete again? I don't see a hitter of Braun's caliber anywhere in the system
  24. Has he pulled a ball yet? Every hit of his I've seen is the other way. His swing just doesn't look like it gets any extension but when you can hit an inside pitch out of the park in Miami I guess you don't need extension.
