  1. Watched the last 2 innings of this game and the last couple yesterday. Just fantastic baseball I've seen this week.
  2. Will not miss Gomez's total lack of discipline in every phase of the game. Loved watching Fiers pitch and will miss him but love the trade.
  3. He quit returning punts to play baseball?
  4. Bronson Arroyo is also going to the Dodgers. Pretty sure he won't pitch this year and this just the Braves once again treating him like an NBA'er.
  5. Here in Manitowoc/Two Rivers we have the Mariners Trail which goes along the lake and next to Memorial Drive. My wife and I get incredibly frustrated by bikers who ride on the road when there is a perfectly good trail. Memorial Drive is 45 MPH with a few roads to turn on to. I understand walkers being a hassle but the trail is there for a reason.
  6. Is there any situation where using a screw with a straight blade head is advantages?
  7. So the Braves give up Jose Peraza, Alex Wood, Jim Johnson, and Luis Avilan for Hector Olivera, Paco Rodriguez, Zach Bird, and a draft pick. I don't see what the Braves are doing with this one. Olivera is going to be their 3B, I think they went pretty hard after him in free agency but they gave up a young starter, a top prospect and a valuable bullpen piece for an injured reliever, a questionable minor leaguer, and a pick.
  8. At best it was pending physicals, the deal was not official and the Brewers did not tell the media to leak it early. I think they are fully within their rights to pull the deal back if another team heard about the deal and gave a better offer. (I doubt that's what happened, but I don't have any problem with it if it did) Thing is, all 30 GM's would back out of an agreed upon trade if a better one came along. But 29 other GM's would all complain about the 1 guy that does it.
  9. Is it possible Doug got a better offer before everything was official and then made up an excuse to call it off?
  10. I'm fine with that, except now trade negotiations are permanently tainted because Doug tipped his hand about what he's willing to accept. Or some team knows what it's going to take and wants to beat that offer before someone else does.
  11. I was thinking the same thing. This isn't really a trade to build for the future. This is a trade for 2016 and 2017.
  12. On one hand I'm glad that the team is "selling". On the other hand, is that really the best offer they could get? Flores is beyond redundant. Some MI is going to be traded. Hopefully it's Flores or Segura and not Arcia.
  13. MLBTradeRumors has crashed. Carlos Gomez broke the internet.
  14. Lagares is basically a slightly better hitting Logan Schafer. And he signed an extension which becomes rather blech pretty soon unless he actually learns how to hit. He's nothing more than a throw in to get money off the Met's books to me.
  15. Apparently now the Braves are involved and sending a "young starter" to LA. Somehow I'm sure AJ Preller will work his way into this one too.
  16. What's the story on this Wilmer Flores kid? Is he great on defense because his numbers look only slightly better than Segura's - low OBP, ok power for his position.
  17. This team isn't competing in 2016 and probably not in 2017. Resigning Parra would just be stupid. He is of best use to this franchise as a trade piece to get guys who will help the club in 2017 and beyond.
  18. Dodgers must have given up someone of note to get a pick back. But then again the Marlins don't seem to like draft picks as I think they've traded every competitive balance pick they've been given.
  19. Based on my own observations, I don't think Lucroy is a very vocal leader. He rarely shows any kind of emotion and his tone in interviews is pretty blah and generally disinterested. I know this notion of "clubhouse leaders" making a difference is pretty much poo-pooed by everybody (including me) but I haven't seen any sort of real leader on this team since Prince left and I think that has hurt.
