  1. For as high as it seemed they were on Gomez before the season he was hardly ever used.
  2. Gallardo is eligible for a QO because the trade happened before the season. Only players that are traded after opening day are ineligible.
  3. And probably about 20 other Brewers. That's the only way he can be traded at this point.
  4. I was a huge proponent for signing Kang last year and he's certainly proven to be an above average hitter so far. The comparison I used was Hee Seop Choi who played a fair amount in MLB and KBO. Kang KBO - .886 OPS Choi KBO - .868 OPS Kang MLB - .809 OPS Choi MLB - .786 OPS Hwang has a .761 career OPS and about .900 the last 2 seasons. Based off of numbers alone I would think an .800 MLB OPS wouldn't be out of the for him. I'd be all for taking a shot at him. Kang won't be paid over $3M in a season unless they pick up his option. I'd take a chance on Hwang for $5-6M a year.
  5. Trying to adjust your rotation so a guy only starts during day games is up there with bad ideas like Yost's attempt at a home/road platoon with starting pitchers.
  6. First off, I hope you're joking. Second of all, playing for the Cubs is going to skew those numbers somehow. Visiting teams aren't used to playing multiple day games in a series.
  7. Does the fact that Schafer hasn't started a game since he got called up mean the organization is finally giving up on him?
  8. Bryant started out like gang busters, OPS'ing near .900 his first couple months but cooled down to .800 in June and tanked in July to sub .700. People are only remembering the way he started.
  9. 100% this. It's really not worth it to try and acquire a really good catcher except by the draft. Their productive years are short and quick and they only play 130ish games anyway. The difference between a great but non-elite level hitting catcher and an average one can't really be that much. Get some guys who can block and throw out runners and take whatever offense they can give you for 3 years and then move on.
  10. Garza was placed on the DL before the All Star break. He admitted he hadn't been 100% for a while. Since he came back his K/9 is up almost 1 and his ERA is down 2.5 runs.
  11. So Dave is a guy who spends money to fill a roster with veterans and try to win? Sounds just like Mark's kind of guy.
  12. #onepercentproblems [sarcasm]He should probably just quit right now since he's not being paid a lot.[/sarcasm]
  13. Cotts is the type of guy who gets traded every deadline. I can't believe he's still on the team.
  14. The hot new thing is this pitch framing business. I believe there is something to it but it's effect has been greatly exaggerated. Either way, the point is that skill shouldn't diminish with age. The bat will. Some team is going to buy into pitch framing hard and want Lucroy bad. Heck, the Rays gave Ryan Hannigan a pointless extension based on it. Find that team and make a deal. ASAP.
  15. Id take Puig but Id flip him later that day for prospects/3 way trade. He is a great talent but everything I have read suggests he is not a rebuild cornerstone player. I had proposed Puig for Braun a couple weeks back after the news of the Dodgers growing sour with him came out. I think that's a good starting point and some other players would need to be involved. No one (outside of St. Louis) would care about any of his antics in Milwaukee. He could also probably be flipped for prospects in a year or two.
  16. Smith in the rotation is kind of intriguing until you look at his splits. This year is such a statistical outlier I think you have to discount it completely. In 2015 LHB have an .849 OPS against him (essentially what everyone has against Lohse this year) and RHB have a .429 OPS (league leader is about .400 against all batters). I'm not sure what you can glean from such huge reverse spit other than a lot a random variance. Anyway here are his OPS against RHB in his career. 14 - .872 13 - .684 12 - .835 (all of which came as a starter) If a guy can't get RHB out from the bullpen, how is he going to do as a starter when he faces 6 or 7 in a lineup multiple times? I'd love him to be a starter as much as the next guy, I just don't see it working out very well.
  17. Zimmermann is from Wisconsin. Big whoop. He's not signing here and he's certainly not going to take any sort of discount to play in Milwaukee. Maybe when he's 35 years old and washed up he might but not when he's about to cash in on a $100M+ contract. Let's move on from that dream.
  18. Guy's 30 years old. 30 year olds aren't part of rebuilding teams. See Mike Fiers.
  19. The Braves are paying all but 500K of Arroyo's contract. Seriously, what the hell were they thinking with this deal?
  20. Wow. One of my favorites. Just amazing on the mic. I can't believe he was only 61.
  21. ...and somehow Brewerfan.net has become a huge fan of Scott Boras.
  22. Some team that is actually playing to get to the World Series will pick him up and play him in CF in a pivotal game. He's doing such as good job as the Padres hitting coach, I don't think teams will be willing to give up what it will take to get him.
  23. With this organization's approach to defense, I don't see how this is a good idea.
  24. Here in Manitowoc/Two Rivers we have the Mariners Trail which goes along the lake and next to Memorial Drive. My wife and I get incredibly frustrated by bikers who ride on the road when there is a perfectly good trail. Memorial Drive is 45 MPH with a few roads to turn on to. I understand walkers being a hassle but the trail is there for a reason. http://www.wdc-online.org/index.php/wdc-journal/wdc-journal-archive/summer-2011/liability-considerations-in-bicycle-accident-cases-a-bike-law-refresher The idea that you're more important or better because you drive and that somehow, your time is more valuable than my safety, is amazing to me. [sarcasm]Which is exactly what I said.[/sarcasm] Just because bikers have the right to ride on the road doesn't mean it is the smartest thing to do. It certainly messes up traffic and is a safety hazard when a car is trying to turn but can't, and can't even move into the turn lane, because a biker is there.
