  1. It's the thing to do these days. Matheny had 0 coaching experience when he was hired. Same with a few other hirings of the last few years. Robin Ventura comes to mind as well. Raul Ibanez and Jason Giambi were both interviewed for manager positions before they even retired.
  2. I have a hard time believing they'd schedule a next-day presser to announce someone from within the organization. Unless it's Robin, whose presence would keep ticket sales from totally tanking, but has he managed anywhere? Does it matter? [sarcasm]Narron writes out the lineip card anyway.[/sarcasm]
  3. Most excited I've been about the Brewers in a while. The replacement has to be in the organization or unemployed, right? Can you take someone under contract with another organization in-season to be your manager? Gardenhire would be a total Mark move being the safe "veteran" choice. Counsel or Erickson are names that get brought up but this organization will continue to disappoint us and it will almost certainly be Narron.
  4. Wow. Can't believe some AL team didn't want him to be their DH.
  5. I don't pay any attention to the NBA but I halfheartedly followed this series. What's with all the shenanigans from the Bulls? Is there bad blood between the teams or did Chicago just pull some Cardinals-esque douchebagery?
  6. Only to get thrown out by other players with "aggressive" baserunning.
  7. That was clearly unintentional and there was no reason for Salazar to hit him anyway.
  8. Who in the hell would have any problem with what Max said?
  9. What do you mean by this? A little lost. When I was there it was basically seniors and white trash. Nobody looked like the people in the commercial. TV also doesn't portray the horrible smell of smoke you get while being there either.
  10. I was thinking that when I was there for a wedding last month. At least they donated $24 to my bank account.
  11. I remember how many posters were not big fans of Lind but he has been the only Brewer to do anything all year.
  12. I like how the woman in the Potawatomi commercials has such an ethnically diverse group of friends that covers all ages and genders.
  13. Adding the DH to the NL would only put teams like the Brewers further behind big market teams who can afford to pay a 9th hitter to be their DH.
  14. I think they just need commissioner approval because of the whole Giants territory business.
  15. The Dodgers lost McCarthy for the year and Ryu is still injured. That's where Doug should be looking. Although with Freidman running the show now they might just ride it out with scrubs.
  16. He gave up money? I read it that he would be paid the same but the Angels would be paying him the majority. This is from the MLB Trade Rumors story.
  17. I don't get why the players union allowed Hamilton to just give up a bunch of money. Haven't they thrown a hissy fit in the past when players wanted to do this like when the Red Sox tried to get Arod.
  18. Schafer being cheap is the only reason I can think of that he is still on the team. But, yes, he is a terrible player and has no business being on this or any team and for some reason every year there is one terrible player that management absolutely loves and refuses to give up on.
  19. Based off of the crowd reaction to Randall Cobb last night Mark will start bringing Packers to every home game. That should sell tickets.
  20. What good will having an overpaid, under performing, quickly aging, injury prone OF do this team? They're not going to compete for a couple seasons and he's just be taking playing time away from Khris Davis. Not to mention putting Hamilton in the land of alcoholism is just asking for trouble.
  21. Another thing that just occurred to me during my JV game tonight. Baseball is the only sport where you don't have free substitution. In football and basketball you can rotate guys during the game so even the end of your bench is going to get in at some point. In baseball once you're out, you're done. I think I do a pretty good job of getting equal playing time to the bottom third of my roster but I still feel bad when I'm not starting the same guys over and over again or giving them that token at bat at the end of a blowout.
  22. I keep reading about all the hoopla about the Cubs not having Kris Bryant on the opening day roster and potentially filing a grievance because the Cubs didn't have the 25 best players on the roster. It's obvious the Cubs kept him down to get an extra year of him, which is the right thing for the franchise to do, but if a grievance is filed what is to keep a lot of other players from doing the same? The Brewers didn't take their best 25. I'd be hard pressed to find much support that Schaefer should have made the roster over Clark or Rogers. Could they make a case against the Brewers?
