  1. Angels already have Cron and Pujols. Not sure another 1B is going to be very good for that organization.
  2. If you go back and read the original Lohse signing thread I was hardcore against it and said some very mean things about him and the Brewers organization. However, watching him pitch has changed my mind. If I look at it as simply the numbers Lohse out up, he was worth the money and the pick. When considering the fact that it didn't even lead to a Brewer's playoff appearance, though, it maybe wasn't the best use of resources. Not that I have any faith in this organization that they would have drafted the right player and developed him correctly though.
  3. Can someone explain what happened on the challenged play. Gameday doesn't make any sense.
  4. Segura? Are there any NL short stops worthy at this point?
  5. Owners really don't seem to care now... Baltimore... Seattle... St. Louis... Toronto... White Sox...
  6. Jimenez DFA'd after 1 PA with Boston.
  7. I'm looking for 1 or 2 for this Saturday. PM if interested for details.
  8. Not sure for a fact, but I thought if you try to remove the ball then it is considered in play and not a ground rule double. If you go after the ball it's live. And it got Prince Fielder his second inside the park homerun a few years ago against the Blue Jays.
  9. More their fault for employing Dusty Baker as their manager for so long, as he consistently abused pitchers' arms and disregarded pitch counts and high stress innings Not like that has changed. The game Cueto pitched at Miller Park he threw 126 pitches. Yikes Based on the current epidemic of TJS in baseball, I think the Dusty Baker ruining pitchers story is a little out of date. I don't remember any other Reds pitchers getting hurt under him or since he's left. Latos maybe, but I thought he already had an injury history in San Diego.
  10. I'm pretty sure we had a thread for TJS last season. Probably should have one for 2015 too.
  11. Maybe they still believed in Roenicke? Maybe they felt they owed him something? Maybe Attanasio didn't trust Counsell yet. It was noted Melvin listed something crazy like 18 reasons Counsell should be the manager. Sounds like a lot of convincing. When Counsell backed out of the possible Rays job he claimed, "I like my job with the Brewers right now." Does that mean he truly does like to executive job which the Rays didn't offer him some role in that way...while maybe the Brewers are still letting Counsell do some of those special assistant jobs? Or does that mean he just likes being with the Brewers. I had posted way back in the off season when Counsell removed himself from the running that I think he knew it would take a miracle for Ron to keep his job and Craig was next in line. Working in the front office Craig probably was involved in discussions about Ron and saw the writing on the wall.
  12. It's probably best for the organization to trade Lind this year but gosh it's nice to watch a Brewer who hits line drives and puts the ball in play.
  13. I was curious about all this talk about being worried about his splits so I had to look them up. In 2015 1.112 vs RHP .848 vs LHP In 2014 .903 OPS vs RHP 1.019 OPS vs LHP In 2013 .730 vs RHP .661 vs LHP In 2012 .846 vs RHP 1.001 vs LHP 2013 was clearly a down year all around but those numbers are great no matter who he's hitting against.
  14. He hasn't had much trouble finding jobs before. I think it's more than teams don't have $15M at this point in the year to be throwing at a catcher with terrible defense and who hasn't hit a lick this year. Aren't the Marlins essentially paying him $15M to go away? I have no idea what kind of guy he is, only wondering what makes a team say good bye to an expensive player after 29 AB's. I was only commenting on why no one traded for him. As for paying him all that money to go away, the Marlins haven't proven themselves to be the most wise organization financially.
  15. Zunino is a young and a former top prospect. I doubt they're ready to give up on him yet.

  17. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/122322828/blue-jays-hitting-coach-brook-jacoby-suspended-14-games-will-appeal Apparently Jacoby and the rest of the coaching staff got into it with the umps as they exited through the visitors dugout after the game. Not much for details but unless we're talking a physical confrontation 14 games seems pretty ridiculous.
  18. I doubt will change much at all. There is no "true leadoff" hitter on the roster and the guys who you expect to hit for power have been pretty putrid all year. Maybe he'll hit the pitcher 8th. Brewer fans heads might explode then.
  19. Based off of what Doug and Craig said it sounds like there were some issues behind the scenes with Ron.
  20. At its inception, a baseball game was won when one side scored 21 aces. The game has changed a lot, and the beanball craze is one thing that needs to go as well. Well it's not going away any time soon and as long as you have teams like the Cardinals that continue to throw at guys your risking your own players getting hurt by not playing along. If Ken Macha's strongly worded letter to the commissioner didn't stop it, nothing will.
  21. Just read the Rosenthal article and he mentions (which it seems like many here, myself included, forgot) that Counsell was a finalist for the Rays jobs last offseason but he removed himself from consideration to stay with Milwaukee. Not to say that the Rays are the gold standard for an organization but if they were seriously considering Counsell for their job I don't think it's as far fetched an idea for him the be managing the Brewers as so many commenters seem to feel. I remember from a thread about that that there were a few comments that the reason he stayed in Milwaukee is because he knew he would be the manager after Ron.
