  1. You say that like it's not something really good to do in baseball. That's all he can do. Walk? Nope. Field? Not that great. Hit for average? Not really. So, great, you've got a guy who either gets out out or hits homers. Enjoy. Like I posted earlier, a younger Mark Reynolds.
  2. This is why I was wondering about the black sox scandal. Unless the owner, GM, or President can be linked I don't think there will be much of a punishment for the franchise. The perpetrators will get lifetime bans and that will be it. That might be true but it sure as hell puts a major kink in the Cardinal way armor. If their way is the right way someone forgot to make sure all the front office employees knew about it. Whoever did it was not a janitor, vending or in promotions. It was someone who was actually part of that specific player acquisition apparatus. This is already every bit as embarrassing to them as Braun was getting caught was to us. At this point both are single employees doing wrong and getting caught. If more comes out than a single employee with a grudge it will be that much worse. This is the Cardinals. Nothing is going to change the perception of that franchise. Not the multiple alcohol related player deaths, not the bean ball wars, not the signing and subsequent praising of steroid cheats, and not this.
  3. So Blanton is going to shut us out. That's a guarantee, right?

  5. He's on my team too. Just like the Brewers I'm waiting for him to start pitching like the old Garza. They will probably give up that hope before I do.
  6. ^ This. 100% this. There were so much better options to get rid of than Wang. Wang might be a success or he might be a failure. But yet there's a bunch of confirmed failures on the 40 man that they decided to keep. Just stupid. He might become something but Moustakas blows Dominguez out of the water when it comes to their minor league numbers. Career minor league OPS for Mous is .842 compared to .726 for Dominguez. Even if you just look at AAA OPS Mous wins out .868 to .699. I have no problem getting Dominguez or giving him a chance to play when Ramirez is traded this season or gone next but to just risk dumping Wang for him in incredibly stupid.
  7. For crying outloud Brewers. You're offense has been terrible for weeks and you go ahead and light up Herrera who I need to have a good outing for my fantasy team. Just figures.
  8. Dominguez blows Mark Reynolds out of the water defensively. Absolutely blows him out of the water. I tracked this kid for three years before he reached the Majors. He was being touted as a Gold Glove caliber third baseman with plus power. He's never reached his potential, but let's face it, he's better than anything we have in the minors right now that could contribute at the Major League level. That's how sad our system has become. The DFA of Wang should be the last straw in Melvin's coffin. I've been done with him for a while, but this move, keeping him on the 40 man roster when he brought absolutely nothing to the team (and I do mean NOTHING), only to drop him the next year, is a big blinking sign that our General Manager is a clueless dolt that I wouldn't trust to run a Dairy Queen, let alone a Major League Baseball franchise. He's failed miserably at the Major League level. In three decades, none of his teams have reached the World Series. That's where we hope to one day get to, right? With Melvin at the helm, all we are doing is pushing the calendar back more. Melvin's continued employment by the Brewers only extends out this terrible trend further. Whoop dee dee. I guess it's about time this organization gave a crap about defense but they had better options to dump than Wang. Schafer clearly should be gone, he offers nothing. I can't see any team claiming him. Same with Hellweg. No one's banging down the doors to acquire a marginal prospect coming off TJ. I'm not sure if Kintzler can be let go being on the DL, but his time is long past over. Plenty of people here don't like Wang because of whatever reason they have but no one can deny that he offers more for the future of the organization than any of those other 3.
  9. Wasn't Ray given some fancy new title so he could technically get a promotion to leave Arizona even though he is essentially doing the same job? Edit: Just checked out the Brewers website. Montgomery is listed as the Vice-President of Amateur Scouting. Nichols is listed as the Director of Player Development.
  10. The more I think about it, the more I think the Cardinals will get a very minor penalty from MLB. They have no history of shady activities like the Patriots do and I think MLB will want this to get out of the headlines as quickly as possible, especially with the All Star Game coming up and it's own controversies. Plus, as Brewer fans we would love to see the hammer come down on them but we will undoubtedly be disappointed like every other moment of our Brewer fandom.
  11. What a terrible move if Wang is lost for essentially nothing. Dominguez brings pretty much nothing to the table. He's a younger Mark Reynolds minus the power. In terms of value to the franchise over the next 3 years Wang>>>>>>Dominguez. Like I posted in the minor league thread about him, some posters just continue to feel like Wang's presence single handedly cost the team the playoffs last year and can't get past it.
  12. Pat Murphy named interim manager. Probably why the Padres denied the Brewers talking to him.
  13. every player from the black sox scandal was banned from baseball for life I mean the actual business organization. Not the players.
  14. The one game I went to this season the guy in front of us realized halfway through the game he had a pocket knife on him that he didn't take out when he came in and it wasn't detected. My wife also realized halfway through the game she had her giant carabiner key chain full of keys in her pocket and that also didn't set it off. [sarcasm]Sounds like they're working great![/sarcasm]
  15. Lohse's bb/9 and k/9 are pretty much all exactly the same this season as they are since he started playing for the Cardinals. k/9 is actually up and his fastball velocity is right in line with what it has been the last 5 years. His 2015 LD% is 2 points higher than his career average but not much higher than other times in his career. His HR/FB is off the charts though. I'm not going to deny that his skills are diminishing but there's certainly a big element of bad luck for him this season
  16. They have to at least lose draft picks from this, right? I mean does a fine really do anything unless we're talking something like $20M+ which even I would find over the top. It's not quite the same thing but did the White Sox organization receive any punishment for the black sox scandal?
  17. Why even do that? Just DFA him...no point in putting him in the bullpen at this point. Dumping him for nothing would be pointless. Someone is going to be willing to give up something, even if it's just cash, for him.
  18. http://m.mlb.com/cutfour/2015/06/15/130730738/relive-the-glory-of-jim-abbotts-first-mlb-hit The one-handed Jim Abbott's first career hit. Jim had an .095 career average but was 2 for 5 with 3 RBI's against Jon Lieber. Seeing Abbott and Sean Berry in the angular jerseys actually made me nostalgic for the late 90's Brewers.
  19. Pretty much. No matter what team Braun is traded to (if he's traded), he's going to get a big ovation for his first home at bat. Even St. Louis. I don't see any fan base having a negative reaction to their team acquiring Braun in the middle of the season for a playoff push.
  20. How so? He doesn't have guys sliding into his legs in the OF. Not to mention having to charge balls at 3B and awkwardly fire it over to 1B. That's always good for the ole' oblique muscles. Well he did hurt himself reaching to catch a flyball earlier this year.
  21. Briggs and many other posters have had it out for Wang since last year's hot start and their feeling that he cost them the playoffs, so this reaction is not surprising.
  22. Derek Jeter's closet full of gold gloves disagrees with this.
  23. I read by a former play (I can't remember who) that young pitchers care more about battling the rada gun than the hitter in the box. Can you blame them? That's pretty much all scouts care about. And height. You have to be over 6'2" to have any scout give a crap about you.
  24. Since we're talking about Braun and 3B I will make my obligatory post about me not understanding how he could be such a bad third basemen when he was the starting SS on a D1 powerhouse baseball college.
