  1. And he was just as terrible as always. Rickie Weeks cut his hair.. and hit a ball over the batter's eye. Not sure if you watched the whole Mariners game or not but they interviewed Rickie and asked him about learning outfield and corner infield. His response was that it was no big deal. Seemed like a big deal last year.
  2. Many of the "aggressive" things they do are incredibly stupid. How many threads last year were there about outs on the bases? Remember when Schaefer got thrown out at 3B on a ball hit to the short stop and that very likely cost the team the game? BF.net was livid and Ron was ho-hum whatever about it. There's aggressive and stupid. Last year this team put more tallies on the stupid side than aggressive and I don't think this is going to change. They made two major bone head baserunning blunders in the few minutes of the first spring training game I saw.
  3. Everyone needs to re-read the original post. Yes, it mentions Gomez but the point is that the whole team has been making bone headed mistakes under Ron's watch and Ron seems to be encouraging it under the guise of "being aggressive."
  4. Just noticed Daron Sutton is doing an Angels broadcast. I can't find anything that says he's actually working for them though.
  5. Everyone is focusing too much on Gomez. Yes, he would pretty much be a nobody if it wasn't for the coaching staff "unleashing" him and in the end his aggressive mistakes probably even out with his aggressive successes. However, he's not the only one. How many runners were tagged out at 3B on balls hit to the SS last year? Too many. I remember guys like Ramirez and Lucroy running into those outs. Those are guys who know better.
  6. rickh150=preacher Brewerfan.net=choir There's a lot of things I don't like about Ron but this tops them all. Overall in his time in Milwaukee the baserunning has been disgusting, the defense atrocious, and plate discipline non-existent. A total lack of fundamentals and seemingly non effort to change that.
  7. Oh ya. I remember that now. I thought the main reason was because their season was over though.
  8. Is it an acceptable practice for an interviewee to bring notes to a job interview?
  9. Interesting Fangraphs article. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/creating-an-expected-payroll-for-all-mlb-teams/ According to this guy's research using "know financial aspects and attendance" for franchises as well as examining correlations between payroll and other factors he's determined what teams should be able to spend on their payrolls. He's found the Brewers could be spending $10M more on their payroll this season and could have been spending an average of about $12M a season the last 5 years. I'm not sure how much stock you can put into this research but it is interesting.
  10. If Mark was as meddling as some seem to think he is I 'd imagine Doug would have resigned by now.
  11. Ji-Man Choi was DFA'd by Seattle today. He's a 23 year old LH first basemen with a career minor league .900 OPS but only .771 in 83 AAA games, although he has been well over .800 at every other level. Now he was DFA'd because he broke his leg and is out at least 4 months. I can't imagine it would take much to get him right now especially with Logan Morrison and Jesus Montero in Seattle.
  12. According to the TV schedule it is on FSN. I'll be heading home soon so it darn well better be on. I've been looking forward to this all day!
  13. Is that Nightengale column for real? It said absolutely nothing about anything and the commentary about it on the Deadspin article was dead on: "We don't want to brag but we're really humble. Like super humble. Like probably the most humble people on earth."
  14. At what point do bobbleheads go the way of baseball cards? Are we close?
  15. Don't they bring out a Mrs. Bernie on Mother's Day?
  16. He'll get a statue right next to Selig after he dies. And, yes, I know I didn't put this in blue.
  17. So many televised Spring Training games. Unfortunately none are on my Monday off days. MLBNetwork looks like they are showing spring training games pretty much 24/7 though.
  18. I haven't really dug into the Brewers system since we were all waiting for Rickie, Prince, Hardy, and Hart but I thought I would do it for this. After reading over some prospect ratings and looking at minor league stats I have to say the system isn't that bad. I don't see any Fielder or Braun level players but there looks to be a lot of solid Hart-type and many that should at least contribute to the big league team at some point. 1. Orlando Arcia SS 2. 19. As he should. This is a good thing. Parra is vastly better defensively than Davis, there is no argument there. And he is better vs RHP in most statistical categories. The platoon advantage is important. Davis is under team control until 2020. He has plenty of time to show the Brewers that he can be an every day player. I have some pretty serious doubts as to whether the Brewers can really be a contender in 2015, but if they are going to contend, there are a few things that need to happen: Limiting at-bats vs RHP for Davis Limiting at-bats vs LHP for Lind Limiting at-bats vs LHP for Gennett Not abusing Will Smith I'm pleasantly surprised & pleased to hear Roenicke talking about Parra like he is. I just hope that if Lind & Gennett struggle vs LHP that the Brewers don't wait until June to do something about it Didn't Davis have an injured wrist at the end of last year too? If I remembered that correctly that would have more of an effect on starts than anything else.
  20. Last year my wife and I had just moved into our house when we started our garden so there wasn't much thought put into it. This year I'd actually like to have a plan of attack. What have you guys had good experiences with growing? So far we'd like to have peas, green beans, carrots, tomatoes, onions, and some herbs. Anything else that does well in Wisconsin or any specific variety of those plants that you like?
  21. Umm, yes. They just signed him to a 2 year deal and with Lucroy missing time or at least not being 100% to start there is no way Maldonado doesn't make the team.
  22. I had the Krispy Creme burger last year. The first bite was ok but each one after was more disgusting than the last. I eventually just ate the meat and donut separately.
  23. Oh get off your high horse. Ditto to this. ^ He was suspended when he plead guilty to assaulting his girlfriend's father and never charged after his girlfriend refused to testify that he assaulted her. Ya, the guy's probably a grade A turd but he's served his punishment before and no one should be suspended for something they are never charged with. Do you feel the Brewers "ignored their moral compass" by not releasing Gallardo after his DUI?
  24. Crime is never a good thing but I find this story very interesting and a little funny. Wisconsin native and NASCAR driver Travis Kvapil had his racecar and hauler stolen. His team had to withdraw from this weekend's race because they didn't have another car. This morning police found his NASRCAR racecar sitting in the middle of the woods in Georgia. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2379383-travis-kvapil-has-sprint-cup-car-stolen-from-hotel-parking-lot?utm_source=cnn.com&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=editorial
