  1. Relievers are generally overpaid considering their volatility year to year, but with the success of the Royals and Braves and other teams with lights out bullpens recently are relievers about to become grossly overpaid? These two guys, I feel, are vastly underrated and the reason they aren't getting more money is because neither is a "proven closer". Gregerson has had 6 pretty darn good seasons and Neshek has had some great years bookending his career with a TJ surgery muddling up the middle. I wouldn't have minded seeing Doug go after either one.
  2. I'd love to see Weeks try and play 1B for St. Louis. I don't think that even the Cardinal Way could make that not be a disaster.
  3. [sarcasm]It's about time that city got a winning team.[/sarcasm]
  4. Craig was already injured in St. Louis.
  5. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/athletics-indians-nearing-brandon-moss-trade.html Moss for minor league 2b Joe Wendle. The Brewers have Lind so Moss would be redundant but would Moss have made more sense, especially for such a low return. Moss is a year younger, has 3 years of team control left, and is not the total liability in the field that Lind is. What would be the Brewers equivalent of Wendle?
  6. I didn't think my comment required blue.
  7. Jeong-ho Kang is a super star shortstop in the KBO and he's expected to be posted this week. He'll be 28 early next season. Career .885 OPS and had a Bonds-esque 1.189 OPS last season. Obviously he wouldn't put up those numbers in MLB but I would think (hope) he could at least do better than Segura last year. Not much on his defense but from the video below it looks like his range isn't great but his hands and arm seem good. To me, his swing looks ok - similar to Khris Davis. I don't think the Brewers are going to bid on him, nor do I think they necessarily should, but I'm very interested to do what kind of contract he gets and how he does in the States. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=kang--000jeo http://youtu.be/TYp6zt627oA?t=32s
  8. Beckham totally makes sense to me. If he's looking for PT he would probably be a near everyday player in Milwaukee between 2B, 3B, and SS.
  9. He probably fakes these injuries to get sympathy and a deal from other GM's and agents.
  10. Jordan Zimmermann is being discussed here. He's a pitcher. Not Ryan Zimmerman.
  11. Those Target commercials that play the same song 47 different ways.
  12. As of now, they won't have a closer but will go by matchups. So, while that is ridiculous money they will at least avoid the stupid designated closer role. We'll see for how long though.
  13. Detroit got Scherzer the last time these 3 teams traded with each other. Maybe they are thinking Greene will blossom.
  14. NYY gets Didi Gregorius from ARZ DET gets Shane Greene from NYY ARZ gets Robbie Ray & Domingo Leyba from DET http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/yankees-to-acquire-didi-gregorius-in-three-team-deal-with-d-backs-tigers.html Doesn't seem to make much sense to me from Detroit's perspective.
  15. I's surprised Hainley hasn't gotten a shot yet. You'd think he would be very valuable on someone's Major League bench.
  16. Ya, the reporter pretty much is what Torii called him. He was clearly just trying to create a stir and make a headline. Torii didn't handle the situation well at all but the reporter was way out of line.
  17. So you're saying the Mariners need an OF now? Sure they could go after Upton but shouldn't they try to acquire an elite defensive OF who's signed for more than 1 season?
  18. That actually seems like a reasonable contract. I don't think this will affect Upton much since Markakis just replaces Heyward.
  19. If they are looking for a first base platoon partner for Lind there certainly are enough choices with Mayberry, Sanchez, Blanks, Baker and probably others I'm missing.
  20. Incredibly pointless move by the Twins. They may say he's brought in to "mentor" but it is obviously to sell tickets and merch. He's going to play 150 games between OF and DH. He's still actually putting up decent numbers despite his age but it's just wasted money for a team that isn't going to compete next year. I'll give Torii credit for wanting to go back to Minnesota but they probably also offered him the most money too. I was expecting him to sign with Texas. He could probably put up some respectable numbers there, not so much at Target Field.
  21. These guys are going to Boston, NY, or LA on low-base/high incentive contracts. Heck, I'd guarantee at least one of them is signed by the Cubs. Players like this is where small market teams are at a great disadvantage. Dropping $10-$15MM over 2 years on one of these guys is nothing for the Yankees but not always worth the risk for the Brewers.
  22. There needs to be a washed up, gritty, battling veteran on every Brewers opening day roster. Add in that Hart is a former Brewer and a fan favorite and signing him to any contract means he is a guaranteed a roster spot if healthy.
  23. Just like Gabby Sanchez he might provide a platoon option but would really just clog up a roster spot. Any thoughts of putting him in the outfield pretty much need to be squashed. You might as well put Lucroy or Lind out there. If he's willing to take a minor league deal and play in Colorado Springs until there's any injury, then fine, otherwise no thanks.
  24. The only way a trade involving those players pictured is if Gomez is involved as well. No team is giving up a Walker or Kemp caliber player for Segura. Even if the Dodgers were just looking to dump Kemp's salary, Segura makes no sense for the reason that they have 1,000,000 SS's already.
  25. It was an unproven procedure even 6 months ago in May. It was very much an experimental thing, which could've caused further damage to his thumb. I thought the reason he chose this procedure was because even if it didn't work, it couldn't make it worse.
