  1. Boo Pittsburgh. That stadium will sap whatever power he actually does have. As a Brewer fan I wanted to see him playing for Milwaukee (and not another NL Central team). As a baseball fan I would have preferred he go somewhere where he has the chance to put up some power numbers that would be a true result of his talent. In Pittsburgh he's probably going to be labeled as some nondescript slap hitter from the Asian pro's.
  2. Quentin is a decent hitter but should never, ever play the field. His body is made of glass. The Brewer would be lucky to get 40 games out of him.
  3. And if those game winning hits are at Miller Park, it's likely to be a game I attend, because Brewers baseball breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. Fixed.
  4. He's just about a useless player now. No speed, low OBP, no power, defense is gone too. As a baseball fan I really want to see him play in MLB for a few more years to get to 3000 hits but not for Milwaukee. He's probably looking for more than Parra will be making and more playing time than Milwaukee can offer.
  5. Padres discussing Wil Meyers for Cole Hamels.
  6. The Cubs are the only team in the division that has gotten better so far this offseason. The Reds and Pirates have lost talent but at least Pittsburgh has the possibility of the their young players improving. The Cardinals really weren't anything special last year they are the Pirates just capitalized on the Brewers laying a brick. I'm not confident the current Brewer's roster is good enough to compete but I don't think they're a last place team either. With health and a little luck in 2015 they probably compete for a playoff spot well into September.
  7. The link I posted says that the Nats have a list of players to chose from in case Turner gets hurt between now and when he can be traded. I don't think anything is set in stone yet.
  8. Yes and no. Officially they can't, yet. But he's been told and it's common knowledge at this point. I suppose it could change though.
  9. The end of the Late Late Show with Craig Fergusen. It's sad to see it go but ended perfectly. Best end to a series finale.
  10. If it's only going to take $20M over 4 years I would take that risk.
  11. He's actually a 'player to be named later'. So does he stay in camp with SD and play part of the year in their system? Awkward. http://www.foxsports.com/mlb/story/washington-nationals-trea-turner-draftee-san-diego-padres-ken-rosenthal-121914 Turner will have to stay with the Padres until midseason. His agent is not happy about it.
  12. Provided last year wasn't a complete fluke, which it probably was. He had a [sarcasm]wonderful[/sarcasm] .620 OPS after the break as his BABIP dropped a staggering .085 back to his career norm. He'll be benched before June.
  13. Wilson was officially released today meaning where ever he signs it will most likely be for the league minimum.
  14. Seriously? I think you need to revisit your bonus baby comments.... it's not relevant past the top 4 rounds or so. 5. Dustin Demuth - $50,000 6. David Burkhalter - $200,000 7. Mitch Meyer - $10,000 8. JB Kole - $159,000 9. Greg McCall - $10,000 10. Javi Salas - $15,000 Burkhalter is a HS kid, how many years could he live off of that $200,000 bonus? You seem to be forgetting that there are all kinds of deductions taken out of that sum such as taxes. Here's a good blog post on the financial side of the draft. TCU baseball coach shows how fast the guaranteed $$ of the MLB draft goes This whole deal is complete garbage and has been for a very long time, MLB is awash in money, just pay the kids in the minors enough that they can sleep in regular beds and eat good meals, that's not asking much. I'm not a liberal by any stretch, I tend to lean very conservative, but even I can see how ridiculous this situation is. Does MLB want great athletes/players or not? There isn't much incentive to stick with baseball if you aren't drafted in the top 3-4 rounds and there is even less incentive to play the game clean. Poor rest and poor nutrition directly lead to athletes looking for "pick me ups" or an edge, MLB has created, almost forced upon the athletes, it's own drug culture. MiLB is a farce by any measure. I'm not sure how I feel about how much minor leaguers should be paid but this part is just ludicrous that MLB teams aren't supplying their youngsters with proper meals and accommodations. When your prospects are staying in $50 a night hotels and eating McDonalds every day they are not going to reach their peak potential. I would bet the players in the Latin American baseball academies are provided a better life than AA or lower players by the parent club.
  15. McGehee is going to San Fran.
  16. Corey will have a super unspectacular 2015 season that will end with him being DFA'd in July but not before he gets a couple of game winning hits against the Brewers.
  17. I wasn't asked about it during my phone interview today but I have an in-person interview on Monday. We'll see if it comes up then.
  18. That's an interesting thought. While I think their attendance would go way up, they would probably make much less money. I can't imagine Cuba has the economy to keep an MLB team competitive. Apparently neither does Tampa. Tampa has the economy, just not the support.
  19. Somehow I doubt after trading for 3 OF, and having like 17 other OF on their roster right now, that trading for yet another OF is high on their radar at the moment. Right now, Gomez is better than every OF on their roster sans Upton. They signed David Ross today too which means they've traded or signed about 12 catchers so far this offseason. I don't think having a surplus at a position is a problem for Preller as long as the player is talented. He's been crazy so far, what's to stop him from getting another OF'er. Even with Middlebrooks their infield is still pretty terrible, trade Ramirez and Gomez?
  20. Some OF is going to be traded or moved to 1B, that is the only thing that makes sense at this point. They also don't have a real CF either. Is there anything they have that is worth trading Gomez for? Seth Smith and Yonder Alonzo maybe? Is Austin Hedges too much to ask for for Gomez?
  21. The talk is Myers in CF. Not sure if that would be any better though.

  23. Like I said in the thread I made in the Rumors section about this. Preller has a problem. The man needs treatment.
  24. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/braves-finalzing-justin-upton-trade.html Send the man to trade rehab. He has a problem.
  25. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/12/padres-acquire-derek-norris.html Seriously, someone tell AJ Preller to stop. Norris and an international signing slot for Jesse Hahn and RJ Alvarez.
