  1. I remember reading that Rogers Communications, which owns the Blue Jays and Maple Leafs, has invested more money in the Leaves than the Jays and it was only a matter of time before some of it was spent on baseball.
  2. No. The Brewers equivalent would have been Peralta and Nelson ad neither of those guys is at the same level as Miller or Jenkins.
  3. They have a pretty good stash of young players and a good amount of money. They could probably acquire just about any player they want right now via trade or free agency and adding La Stella adds to their depth to trade from.
  4. In the Cy Young voting too. After all, Molina's game-calling is more dominant pitching than Kershaw's actual pitching. Wainwright was 1. Molina was 2.
  5. When the Hellickson rumors were starting I was sure it was to Atlanta for Gattis.
  6. While the length is ridiculous Stanton is pretty young for a contract like that. As long as he's able to come back from getting beaned last year they are probably getting 8 more great years of production out of him.
  7. There are a few short stops that might be posted from what I remember. Trying to acquire one of them might not be a bad idea. It at least opens up the option of benching, optioning, or trading Segura.
  8. Cheap Trick is always looking for work. I would actually make an effort to see them if they were to play.
  9. No, Tommy La Stella would be great. He is the inverse of Scooter, at least based on the relatively small sample of 2014: Scooter .253 OPS vs. LHP .802 OPS vs. RHP La Stella .817 OPS vs. LHP .604 OPS vs. RHP Put them together and you would have had the #2 2B in the NL last season (behind Altuve, #3 MLB behind Cano and Altuve). That would be a fantastic solution to our 2B-platoon need, though I don't think it's worth trading someone like Gallardo for that alone. But maybe La Stella and a plus reliever? 61 MLB at bats vs left handed pitching is hardly relevant. He's a lefty hitter like Gennett. It would be pointless to have both of them on the roster.
  10. Just saw on MLB Trade Rumors that Braves may be looking to move Jordan Walden or Tommy De La Stella. Walden wouldn't be a bad pickup for the bullpen. De La Stella on the other hand is literally Scooter Gennett in another uniform.
  11. Reports are the Braves are looking to move Gattis and possibly Heyward and the Uptons. None of those guys fits a need for the Brewers so it's probably not any of them.
  12. Yes. My friend works for a company that creates mascots for teams all over the country. Last season he created the Hank mascot that will be regularly seen in 2015. They already debuted it at Hank bobblehead day, but by MLB policy new mascots can only make one appearance if it is created during the season, that's why you didn't see it roaming around after that. Interesting, we saw him at that game and was wondering why the mascot didn't show up the rest of the year. Makes sense as I do recall the same thing happening to the Chorizo a number of years ago. I don't know what's worse. The fact that there will be a Hank mascot next year or that MLB has rules about when and how often mascots can appear.
  13. Didn't see that. Either way I never want to see him play for Milwaukee again. The only time he's been able to find the plate since 2011 was his 10 innings with the Cardinals.
  14. The Tigers are the poster child for those that say you need to spend lots of money and/or have an ace pitcher to win a Championship. The Tigers are loaded with some high-priced, bad contracts that will become terrible over time and have had basically two aces in one way or the other the last few seasons with 0 titles to show for it.
  15. Where are these concerts going to take place? Haven't the few concerts they've had destroyed the field?
  16. From Nov 3: http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/11/outrighted-quiroz-bochy-axford-gomez-darnaud-richardson-elmore.html Doesn't that mean he was sent to the minors?
  17. I believe Pittsburgh outrighted him the the minors, so not a free agent.
  18. This just screams 3 nights of the BoDeans to me. (half blue)
  19. 32/33 year old pitchers making $20MM+ per season for 4 or so years don't trade easily.
  20. Reports are they are talking with Colorado about Tulo. Even if they do trade for Tulo this seems pretty dumb. Cuddyer will offer them little other than starts at first against lefties.
  21. Just look at Verlander. Scherzer is probably a year or two away from being an above average to average pitcher. The long post season runs have taken their toll on Tigers pitchers.
  22. About half of that team has no business being anywhere near the word "All Star".
  23. I gave up on sports talk a while ago. Between the callers and hosts, it's like reading the comments section on an article. What broke it for me was listening to 107.5 and the host saying that Kosuke Fukudome was a better player than Corey Hart because Fukudome had more runs scores and "runs scored is a pretty important stat." Their baseball talk was horrendous. Whoever decided to let Johnny Gray talk about baseball should have been hanged.
  24. Brew4U must still be stuck in campaign mode. This reads like every political discussion on Facebook.
