  1. Maybe, but no way would I want to see that.
  2. I really want the Royals to do well. But I don't want a Ned Yost-managed team to have success and justify his idiocy. That said, it looks like Ned is doing his best to prevent KC from winning.
  3. Uke doesn't have a number retired. Oh..I guess I should have realized that since Mike Fiers wears 50. I've never been good at remembering uniform numbers unless the player has been on the team for several years. As was mentioned by Casey, seems like they are going to have to amend that sign for Uecker. Ukes sign already is different than the rest of the them. http://cdn.fansided.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/229/files/2014/04/bob-uecker-mlb-cincinnati-reds-milwaukee-brewers-850x560.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_zwyRdUo8A-E/TGY84naU4BI/AAAAAAAAC8s/H4jHm4531Dg/s1600/IMG_2518+-+good.JPG
  4. The Tigers retired EH (Ernie Harwell) and TC (Ty Cobb) and the Cardinals have retired JB (Jack Buck) and RH( (Rogers Hornsby). I can understand not wanting to hang a banner that says BS on it. Although I guess it should be AS but probably not a lot of people would know who that is.
  5. Seeing that picture makes me wonder how much Prince leaving affected Rickie. They played together since they were kids. Those two and Hardy and Hart all came up through the system together and Rickie was the only one left. That's got to be tough to see guys you played with for years leave.
  6. Coaches and managers have to know when they are hired they are going to be fired 3 or 4 years later unless they make the playoffs every year. That's just the way it goes.
  7. Several ex-Twins have criticized the team's coaching staff for their hitting instruction. J.J. Hardy, for example, said the Twins were dead-set on their players hitting to the opposite field, even if that tactic strays from a player's strengths. When he got to Baltimore, "....[baltimore hitting coach Jim] Presley's approach was 'I want you to drive the ball. I want you to hit homers. I want you to do what you did in '07 and '08 with Milwaukee.'" Hardy hit 30 homers for Baltimore that year. Ya. That's why I don't want Gardenhire managing. The Twins organizational philosophy on hitting is pretty bad.
  8. Haven't the Twins always been an organization known for strong fundamentals? It'd be nice to have that in Milwaukee for a change. However, I'd pass on Gardenhire.
  9. I know he was good at giving up HR's but a .99 WHIP and only 18 walks in 68 innings? I wouldn't mind having that back as long as the deal is right.
  10. Not the Cardinals.
  11. This is the first Brewer season that has actually had an affect on my mood. The way they played the last month or so made me so miserable and upset that I had to stop watching games. Because of that I'm glad the season is over but I miss it already. I hate winter.
  12. Lawrie can't stay healthy and outside of his rookie season he's been average at best (96 OPS+ since). Although he is the kind of hitter the Brewers love: high strikeout, low OBP, decent power.
  13. Does anyone know the rationale behind choosing the number 1. Is it something stupid like "Bud will always be #1 in Milwaukee"?
  14. They don't play every single minor league game over 5,000 feet.
  15. Despite the players the Brewer have traded the last few seasons, they still wouldn't have a first basemen had those trades not happened.
  16. Shields? Sandoval? Mark like to make flashy free agent signings but those are way above his pocket book. Those guys are getting big money from the typical big money teams.
  17. The tax preparer lobby would have none of that!
  18. Gibson and Allan Trammell were fired. But Trammell is managing the last 3 games. Smooth move LaRussa.
  19. I would have no problem with him being a guest manager when the Brewers are playing the Cardinals.
  20. I don't think we can expect that at all. Sure, that could happen, but there is just as much chance they will regress. Actually, Davis and Scooter tailed off already in the 2nd half of the season. You could make the case one or both are headed down the Segura path. Hot MLB start, then cool off and stay there indefinitely. As much as I've not been a believer in Gennett, I don't think he's in line for a Segura-like decline. In their careers they have each put up 6 months of a .700+ OPS. That's out of 14 total months for Segura vs. 8 full total months for Gennett. And Segura hasn't done it since June of 2013. Segura might be better next year only because I don't think he can get worse. Davis, I have no idea. His hitting has been all over the place so far.
  21. If Ramirez isn't back, I can see them going after Headley. He's been in a free fall that few seasons and may be looking for a 1 year deal.
  22. If PED's allowed teams to change contracts, the Yankees would have tried with Arod.
  23. If the team got "complacent" that's as much on the players as the manager, which is surprising for as veteran as the team is. Were they complacent for a whole month, though? When they went from 6 games up to not up at all were they still complacent? At what point did they start being complacent and at what point did it become obvious they had to stop being complacent? And why didn't they?
  24. Would Morneau have really made that big of a difference anyway? The whole offense totally, completely, and fully collapsed and the bullpen chose the wrong times to give up runs. I don't know if one hitter could have won them the 2 or 3 more games they would have needed to get a wildcard.
