  1. I just finished reading SI's story about Greg Hardy and his situation. What really gets me is that all the attention is on the NFL for not punishing these players enough. Umm, what? All the attention needs to be on these players and why they are committing violent acts against anybody - women, child, or man. The issue that needs to be addressed isn't about punishments or suspensions, it's about these men who clearly have no idea how to treat other human beings and how to stop that. Suspensions and fines are not going to make any difference. And even if they did, any player who decides not to punch his wife/girlfriend/fiance in the face just because he might get suspended is just as despicable a human as any player who actually does it.
  2. This could be true. But the risk of injury a broken finger/hand, cracked rib, Concussion is there. Allowing Cardinal Pitchers to hit our batters 10times to 1 lets say means our hitters have 10times the risk of attaining those kind of injuries that may lead to a long DL stint. April 28th Brewers vs. Cardinals Brewers were 18-7 Game 1 of 3game set Carlos Gomez is hit by pitch in 6th along with ARam HBP in 6th. Top of 7th bases loaded ARam is hit by pitch again. Khris Davis drives in game winner in extras. Game 2 Lohse hits a PH G. Garcia Win 20-7 on the season. Game 3 Khris Davis(Mr GW 2 days earlier) in top of 8th inning in a 9-3 Cardinals lead is HBP Fast forward to July 11th Brewers 52-41 First Batter of the Game Gomez is HBP. Game 2. Nelson in his 2nd start of the season beaned Holliday in the 1st inning. Adam Wainwright folks. Staked to a 6-0 lead somehow Beans Carlos Gomez with 2outs in the 3rd inning. Game 3. Bottom of the 4th. Runner on 2nd base first base open who's at the Plate? Carlos Gomez. Beaned. 3game series, 3 separate games Carlos Gomez was beaned. Fast forward Aug 1st Brewers 60-49 Game 1. Top of the 6th 3-0 Brewers Adam Wainwright pitching Runners on 2nd and 3rd 1out 1st base open. Carlos Gomez to bat. Beaned Game 2. Gorzo beans Carpenter in the 8th inning Game 3. Garza Beans Matt Adams leading off the 2nd inning in a 2-0 lead for Milw. Fast forward Sept 4th Brewers 73-66 Game 1 Peralta beaned Holliday and Scruggs Game 2 Bot 7th 1out 6-2Brewers lead. Lyons Beans Lucroy Game 3 Lohse beans Lynn in 2nd. Lynn Beans Overbay in 4th Game 4 No HBP All told HBPs its: Gomez 5 ARam 2 Lucroy/Davis 1 Holliday 2 Adams 1. Oh the final Series No beanings by Cardinal Pitchers. Hey they had a 5game lead and Playoff Bound. ARam's 2HBPs led to him missing the 2nd/3rd games of that series. He'd return to the lineup after the series for 8 of the next 9 games and bats 5-29 only to suffer a strained Hamstring and miss the next 22games. Gomez didn't come away affected from his 5 beanings. Yadier Molina not beaned once in the season series. Neither was Braun but he's not the Braun of old. Anyway, just my reasoning of why I didn't like Roenicke's non retailiate tactics. Gomez gets beaned 5 times twice by the Ace of the Cardinal Staff! Someone who hbp batters 4 times one year in 230IP and last season 6 total times in 241IP! Yet batting in the 3rd in a 6-0winning game and 1b open with 1out in a 3-0losing game he beaned Gomez twice. 2 of his 7Hit Batters were Gomez in nearly 900Batters faced. And I'm sure this has Molina/Cardinal way all over it. Just giving reference to my suggestion. Whatever your personal feelings are on retaliation, I think it is quite apparent that the Cardinals have no fear of pitching inside, throwing at our batters, or flat out hitting them. Apparently, Grandpa Ken's strongly worded letter to the commissioner a few years ago had no affect on them.
  3. The blisters were from hitting.
  4. So glad there are only 3 days of the Jeter lovefest to go. I guess Fox will probably find a way to make the playoffs about him too though.
  5. More or less the same group of coaches for the last four years, and more or less the same players or same type of players the last 8ish has gotten 2 playoff appearances. And one of those was because of a mythical beast known as CC and an almost Brewer-like collapse by the Mets. In the context of the history of the Brewers franchise that's not horrible, but considering the talent and expectations of some of those teams, that's kind of pathetic. I guess Mark needs to decide if he wants to stay the course going forward with a team that will be around .500 and might luck it's way into the playoffs or try something new. I would hope the he realizes while these past years have been kind of fun it would be more fun to actually put together a really great team. Whether to him that means tearing down and starting over or opening the pocket book and buying talent, I don't know. But I really hope he does one of those two things.
  6. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/25-things-you-didn-t-know-about-baseball-150138671.html Some fun fact type stuff in this article.
  7. The fact that Henderson just sort of randomly went on the DL and then couldn't pitch a rehab assignment tells me he's pretty much done. Not that I'm surprised, I thought his lack of throwing strikes would put him out before an injury.
  8. If Braun's thumb bothers him hitting, it's probably not helping him throw either. You don't have to make as many throws at first as you do in the outfield.
  9. They do and totally get away with it. That's the problem. That's how you end up with Garza getting tossed after hitting a guy on 1-2 count.
  10. No more pressure on them = victories. There's still pressure. They're not eliminated yet.
  11. http://media.sportsradio1250.com/a/77944686/07-10-13-ken-macha-on-rupena-s-post-game-show.htm 4:50 into the interview. If true, that's a ridiculous reaction from Braun and an over reaction from Ken. There's a big difference between watching a fly ball get caught and getting thrown out trying to get to third base on a ground ball hit to the short stop...multiple times.
  12. There are also 30 AAA teams. Everyone needs a dance partner so to say. So, unless some team decides it doesn't want a AAA team Ward's always going to have a taker for his team.
  13. I have no doubt Grandpa Ken wasn't fun to play for. He looked like he slept through most games but who did he bench that got him fired?
  14. I'm not sure any coach signals run vs stop when rounding first, let alone the manager way in the dugout. Rickie just being Rickie. Rickie clearly thought it was homerun by fan interference. He was pointing to left field after he was tagged out.
  15. Has there even been bad blood between the players since 2011? I don't recall Matheny bringing in a reliever for the sole purpose of hitting someone like shingles DUI guy did. Benches cleared after the game was over the last time the Cardinals were in Milwaukee.
  16. Call me a crazy old coot but I feel no matter what changes take place in the offseason, the first time the Brewers play the Cardinals next year the first Cardinal batter gets a fastball in the back. LaRussa and Matheny both have played their little "classy" games on the Brewers perfectly and the Brewers have always come out on the losing side. In 2015, instead of letting them walk all over us and get away with whatever they want like they always do, be the aggressor and start it. You can only take the high road for so long and that's gotten us nowhere. They need to start giving the Cardinals a piece of their own medicine.
  17. It's hard to bench players when your bench is playing poorly, or when you have very little bench because of injuries or extra guys in the bullpen. The last time the Brewers manager benched a guy for doing something stupid, Ryan Braun got him fired. I'm assuming you mean Macha but I don't know what this is in reference to.
  18. How about no. [sarcasm]If Tomo Ohka can do it, Braun can do it.[/sarcasm]
  19. It's Colorado Springs. There' a lengthy thread in the minor league forum about it. http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=31788
  20. I think the fact that after all these baserunning mistakes not a single guy was benched, shows it's a lot more on Ron that some want to believe. Whether it was because he supported the stupidity or only gave the guy a "hey, don't do it again" when he got back in the dugout, a lot of it has to fall on Ron. Especially because it wasn't just one guy. Sure, most of the boneheaded plays were by Gomez but I can remember Lucroy and Ramirez each having a couple "did you really just do that" baserunning gaffes.
  21. He's a came-out-of-no-where almost 30 year old. No team is going to give up something that is more valuable than Fiers already is to the Brewers.
  22. Some would say a franchise going on 45 years without a title is sad. I don't care about the title. How about making the playoffs only twice in what, 20 plus years?
  23. From the linked article. I like all of these changes the Atlantic League made. My favorite is the warm up pitches rule. A reliever coming into a game should be ready to go, that's what the bullpen is for. I would say you only get 3 pitches or 30 seconds, whichever comes first, from the time the catcher squats. That's more than enough for a pro pitcher to be ready. Limiting defensive timeouts would be huge too. You don't need the catcher going to talk to the pitcher once every at bat.
  24. I assume Washington has money to pay LaRoche, so unless they have someone banging the door in AAA, I don't really see why they wouldn't retain him for the net cost of $13M. They have eyes and can see what kind of crap is playing out there. Zimmerman is moving to first base.
