    Seems like a pretty weak "apology" but I don't know if I could care any less. It doesn't matter what Braun does or says nothing will change people's opinion of him. The media will continue to berate him. The fans here that support him will continue to support him and those that don't will still hate him. Can we all just move on to something else now? This story has just been spinning in a circle since Braun was suspended.

    I really enjoy that Jim Henderson's entrance music is The Black Keys instead of the typical scream metal that most closers use. He's alright in my book.

    The most important advice I can give you is to just have the kids throw. I know it sounds really simple but it is really important. Most of my high school players don't touch a baseball between the last game of the season and the first practice of the next year and it's embarrassing to watch them try to play catch to warm up. Their mechanics are terrible and they are gassed after about 5 minutes. At the age you are talking about keep it really simple. They aren't going to understand too much about mechanics and it will probably make them disinterested if you talk about it. Just have them throw and focus on making sure they are reaching back and following through.

    If you think Braun is the only top player who has been juicing since high school but whose organization chose to look the other way, I think you are sadly mistaken.

    Braun's press conference should just be him walking to a podium, dropping his pants, injecting some HGH, and then walking off. That way everyone knows he did it and what he took. No more questions need to be asked. Move on, end of story.

    I hate to sound like some internet jerk, but no. This is quite possibly the most incorrect post I've seen in BF.net history. Ron has nothing to do with the success the team has had lately. His aggressive base running and overuse of the squeeze and bizarre rotation decisions have done nothing to help the team win. Once again, this team is winning in spite of him, not because of him.

    Heard on TMJ his friend has evidence that Braun took PED's in college and committed academic fraud. I didn't realize Braun played football too at Miami.

    Here's a question. Will this end the "if the ball beats you, you're out" rule of thumb? There's been a couple of times this year I've seen guys get called out because the ball beat them by a lot but the fielder reached for the runner instead of tagging the bag and the runner actually got in safe. What about when a middle infielder doesn't touch the bag on a double play?

    Yes, I do and it's pretty obvious. Especially after last year when every turn over was reviewed. There were way more overturned than in previous year and it's because the refs are now making the calls that are fixable, not the right call. I would prefer no expanded replay. The umps are blowing blatantly obvious calls and now we want them to make judgements about what runners are going to do? No thank you.

    Yuck. They better have a good plan for what to do with baserunners on overturned calls. That is where the mess is going to happen. Bases loaded and a ball down the line is called foul but is fair on replay, where do the baserunners go? Do the umpires make a judgement call? Does everyone advance one base, or two? Do the runners on second and third score and the runner on first gets third while the batter gets a double? Way too many variables. Way too many chances for one mistake by an umpire to become multiple mistakes and cause more havoc than just a blown fair/foul call. Umpires are probably going to make the call that is easiest to fix on close calls instead of the right call. I just see this turning out horribly.

    I feel going into 2014 we will feel the same way we felt going into 2013 about the team. The offense will be good. The defense will be shaky. The bullpen will be a coin flip. And the team's success will come down to the rotation. If Gallardo returns to his old self, if Lohse continues to pitch the way he has, if the Peralta we've seen the last month or so turns out to be the real Peralta that's a pretty good top 3 and you've probably got at least a .500 team. If Estrada stays healthy and pitches his usual solid yet unspectacular self then the team should compete for a wild card. If they can find a 5th starter, be in Thornburg or Fiers or whoever, then the NL Central becomes a 4-team race. However, just like this year, it's all going to come down to the rotation.

    I think Cabrera's increase in size is due more to something like cheeseburgers than anything PED related.

    They have 3 DH's with Prince, Cabrera, and Victor Martinez. The lineup they put out is as good as it's going to get balancing defense and offense.

    Braun isn't going to say anything of substance. It will be your standard "I made some mistakes and I've learned from those mistakes and I hope everyone can forgive me."

    Last time the Brewers played in Baltimore, Richie Sexon got plunked and had to be restrained from charging the mound. Payback coming?

    Framing shouldn't make one bit of difference since the umpire shouldn't be looking at the catcher's glove. He should be looking at the front of the plate since that's where the strike zone is.

    Other than Jose Conseco name a position player that got hurt pitching. The injury argument here doesn't matter either because you are not going to use anyone of real value to your team. You're going to use your 25th man.

    I have yet to work at a place where workplace communication is even close to adequate. I'm going to be working at a high school this year. A few weeks ago when I was there we were talking about scheduling and my supervisor mentioned that registration is August 12 and I don't have to be there but if I'd like to work some hours I could. I told her I was probably going to be out of town that day and she said that was fine. Yesterday, I get a message from her reminding me that I need to be at registration on Monday. The plans I made two weeks ago after she told me I didn't have to be there just got blown up.

    This shouldn't be surprising. Pujols has always had a huge upper body and is injured pretty often.

    You should listen to some of the other idiots other teams trot out there. I'm glad BA talks a lot (for one, he's told do things that way by his higher ups), it also means Schroeder doesn't talk as much. Those games that Coshun/Schroeder call are so amazingly painful that I cannot even stand watching. I actually do listen to other teams when they have games on MLB Network. Some guys are terrible, some are so-so. I love the Nationals guys FP Santangelo and whoever the other guys is. I just don't get the love for Brian. He's dry and boring. He says stupid things to fill air and when he talks about advanced stats like OPS (gasp!) he always sounds tongue in cheek about it.
