  1. The amount of talent the Brewers just traded hurts indeed but let's take a look at some of the top prospects Doug has traded. Matt LaPorta (for C.C.) .232 .307 .388 .694 Michael Brantley (for C.C.) .264 .313 .333 .645 Cole Gillespie (for Felipe Lopez) .231 .283 .365 .649 Will Inman (for Linebrink) 5.17 ERA 1.508 WHIP 6.7K/9IP in AAA, no MLB time Joe Thatcher (for Linebrink) 3.27 ERA 1.255 WHIP 9.5K/9IP Steve Garrison (for Linebrink) 8.87 ERA 1.836 WHIP 6.9K/9IP in AAA, no MLB time Tony Gwynn, Jr (for Gerut) .242 .330 .320 .650 since released and signed by LA The only real one that got away was Nelson Cruz. Maybe de la Rosa.
  2. If Jeffress isn't in the deal the Royals just took one from behind. Overall, I think we as Brewer fans need to stop assuming all of our prospects are going to be stars. Most, and by a great margin historically, most have failed. As a fan I'll take two years of having a great team and then a few a mediocre years right now. We've sucked for a while.
  3. You make a good point. If next year blows up and turns into a disaster Prince leaves and that still leaves two or three great pitchers to trade to replace what was just lost. I really couldn't like this trade anymore unless Doug finds a way to keep Cain.
  4. If KC needs to make roster space maybe they send someone else over too. Aviles, Ka'aihue, Gordon, Kendall? Just throwing names out there and joking about the last one.
  5. Betancourt/Councell at short and Gomez/Dickerson in CF should produce about what we had at the same positions last year so offensively the team should be about the same. Cain really wasn't around all the long but I will miss him the most. Maybe Doug heard my comparisons to Bill Hall and decided to sell quickly on him.
  6. I'm keeping my feet on the ground right now but if this is true...I don't know what I will do.
  7. The trade was a failure on both sides. Still, Gomez can't leave Milwaukee soon enough for my tastes.
  8. That couples show looks terrible and does not look like it will fit in with the rest of the lineup so they force us to watch it by sticking it between two good shows. Not looking forward to that.
  9. Sure, $800 million free now but how many hundred million of Wisconsin taxpayer money later in maintenance and upgrades. Enjoy your train NC.
  10. I was thinking that was quite possibly the plan all along. And even if it doesn't get them Zack they have a Canadian guy to put some people in the seats in a few years.
  11. If Lawrie winds up playing anywhere besides catcher, second or short in the majors I don't think he will be a tremendous loss similar to LaPorta.
  12. I would definitely say this increases the chances of Prince going to Washington. They want to win and will do anything to be competitive. They are completely misguided and kidding themselves if they think they can compete right now or anytime soon and I don't want to see Prince traded at all.
  13. With moving Holliday to right and Berkman in left I can't see this as a great move for St. Louis. Berkman's bat might turn around but his defense will not.
  14. I think this guarantees that Cliff Lee will be a Yankee, maybe Greinke too.
  15. I'm going back and forth on this. It seem illegal but this would be such a small operation I don't think it would be worth MLB's time to do anything about it. I guess it depends how moralisticly I want to be.
  16. Actually yes I have found plenty of photos without the MLB logo on it.
  17. I couldn't find a Brewers ticket around but I checked about ten other MLB teams' rules on photography and Pittsburgh is the only one I found that explicitly forbids selling of photographs. Everything else I found was rather vague or only forbade selling video.
  18. I did a little more research and it seems like there will be no issues with logos or player likenesses. I did read that the ticket states the terms and conditions for photography and video. One person said that photos and videos can't be sold and another said that just video can't be sold. I checked the Brewers website and the A-Z section is awaiting 2011 information so that was no help. I'll go find a ticket from last year and read what it says.
  19. I have a bunch of nice 8x10's that I've taken at Brewer games over the past couple of years and I've decided to start selling them. Is this legal? Do I owe the Brewers anything? I took them all myself so there shouldn't be any copyright issues, correct?
  20. Pretty much this. It would be really stupid to implement Peterson Pitching from top to bottom and throw it away after only one year because the new manager wants his own pitching coach.
  21. If he's still available during Spring Training I see no reason not to give him an Edmonds/Kapler-esque contract.
  22. Really disappointed with the first show. I thought he would have pulled out all the stops for the first show. It'll be good but I was expecting a lot more from the first show. I thought he said that this show was going to be more of a variety show like his tour was this summer.
  23. Probably not. 90-95% of pros make it because of their natural talent and college and especially high school coaches aren't going to try and mess with their best players.
  24. Why is there even talk about signing a catcher? Jon and George each had decent seasons are cheap and young. Catching is the furthest thing from a problem with the team right now and spending any money on it would be a waste unless we are talking Victor Martinez.
