  1. I'm guessing this season the Office was written backwards so they send Michael out in a good way so these early episodes are probably all their left over ideas.
  2. Any Canadians or former members of the Rangers organization for Melvin to possibly consider?
  3. Even with the way he finished, the money saved by trading him was worth a craptastic year by Gomez and a disappointing year for Escobar in a season where as it turned out the Brewers didn't have the pitching to contend.
  4. Maybe it's selective memory but during games there were always players talking with Randolph and Svuem. Macha was almost always standing by himself, sometimes with Peterson and that one time with Dale practicing his swing. Players seemed to like Willie and avoid Ken.
  5. I'd like to see Randolph be the manager and keep the coaching staff intact. Get some "young" coach to take over the bench coach role and sort of be groomed as the next guy by Randolph. I wouldn't mind seeing Craig Counsell, Jason Kendall, or Jeff Cirillo there. Maybe Trevor Hoffman.
  6. I can never remember Brett Favre or a kicker ever wearing a mouth guard.
  7. A good number of NFL QB's where mouth guards. I'm pretty sure that Stafford, Brees and Eli wear them. They're not the big one's that other players wear but watch them before they go under center, they put a mouth guard in.
  8. Ben Sheets should have had multiple 15 win seasons but he was either injured or played with an offense that couldn't win even if he pitched a shut out.
  9. Jeff Wagner was just talking about this sort of thing on TMJ this afternoon. I don't live in Milwaukee so I have no idea about how things like this are usually handled but from what I gathered this afternoon don't expect much help from the MPD.
  10. I'm refusing to watch Outsourced. I have never met a series I have such hate for despite never even seeing it. The commercials have turned me off more than the show itself actually could.
  11. Obviously only the best come to MLB but Dice-K just turned 30 (although he's had a very injuries lately), Shigetoshi Hasegawa pitched into his late 30's, Kaz Ishii is still pitching in Japan in his late 30's, Kenshin Kawakami is 35, Masa Kobayashi is 36 and still pitching in Japan, Hiroki Kuroda is 35, Hideo Nomo pitched until he was 40 in the majors, Tomo Ohka is 34 and still pitching in Japan, Hideki Okajima is 34, Akinori Otsuka pitched until he was 36, Takashi Saito is 40, Kaz Sasaki pitched until he was 37, Koji Uehara is 35, Masato Yoshii pitched until he was 42. Once again these are only the best of the best that come to America from Japan but just skimming their injury history major arm injuries were rare. Only 2 lost significant time due to elbow injuries and another 2 due to getting hit in the head. I was surprised to find out that Kei Igawa was 31 and I believe the injury that has cost him the last year and a half is an ankle injury.
  12. He has no trade value and after him there really aren't any MLB ready outfielders in the system (of course depends on how MLB ready you think Gomez is). Unless some other team really loves him he'll be the Brewers 40 man roster next year. Hopefully in Nashville to start.
  13. When I played in college we were ridiculously babied. Our starters never threw more than 80 pitches in a bullpen session and were then expected to go out and pitch 6-9 innings twice a week. I was a reliever and in our practices before the season started we would throw 20 pitch sessions every three days and never threw during the season. I know it can't be that way at every college but pitching so little so infrequently not only inhibits the development of arm strength but stunts the players learning how to pitch. What Nolan Ryan has implemented in Texas will hopefully become common place in baseball soon and pitchers will pitch more and get hurt less.
  14. Not exactly that simple but it will have a lot to do with it. We have babied our pitchers to the point that it is now detrimental to their long term health. Their whole life they have limitations placed on what and how much they can do and then when they get to the majors they are expected to exceed those limitations and then when they do - they get hurt. Players from Latin America haven't had those limits and have shoulders that have built up enough strength to take the abuse of pitching and pitching a lot.
  15. He wasn't raised and trained in the U.S. so he should have a decent major-injury-free career. Not having his arm babied his whole life should keep him pretty healthy.
  16. And what about Holly maybe coming back too? Probably the same thing that happened to Jack's dad needing a kidney on 30 Rock.
  17. Community won the night for NBC but this Office episode wasn't bad. Loved how Micheal's nephew was such a stereotypical kid of his age with his likes and personalty. I also liked that they carried Ryan's Woufph concept from last season.
  18. I would think that New Orleans would have great support for a baseball team, look at the Saints. The closest teams would be St. Louis, Atlanta, and Texas/Houston. The Superdome has had baseball games in it before.
  19. Oh ya. I totally agree about the other side of luck. Baseball is so much about the right things happening at the right time and in the right place.
  20. As a pitcher it ticks me off. I can throw a perfect pitch in a perfect spot and a guy can take a crappy half swing and it barely squeaks through the infield to score a runner from second with two outs. What did I or anyone else on my team do wrong? Nothing but it cost us a wrong.
  21. Running Wilde is the only new show that really interests me. Outsourced is the show that I hope gets canceled the quickest. It looks terrible and I can't see it lasting more than 3 episodes.
  22. Reading the article pretty much confirmed my suspicion that Molina asked for the fan to be tossed. Just before Davidson threw him out you could clearly hear some guy yelling something and the word "Molina" was one of them. Immediately after that the fan got tossed. Those classy Cardinals just can't play with unclassy fans around.
  23. If you watch the ump he tosses the pitcher as soon as the ball goes behind Morgan.
  24. Morgan is now one of my favorite players. I loved every part of Morgan did except when he was leaving the field. If the Marlins have a problem with Morgan stealing bases when they are winning, then throw the guy out. I think Morgan waited to see if the catcher was going to get the ball before charging the mound, not like he was going to be caught anyway.
  25. Pretty much any current "rock" band.
