  1. Part news, part rant on Yankees fans. I don't know if it's speculation or actual rumor but there was talk of the Yankees trading for Greinke and Jesus Montero possibly being one of the players that Kansas City would get. The Yankees fans on MLB Trade Rumors are adamant that Montero would be too much for Greinke. Maybe if Soria was throw in too they might consider it. They are such idiots and I hate them all.
  2. If anyone read Matt McCulley's (I think that was his name) book, he says that in the minors players are required to lift certain days during the week during a homestand. If they don't they are fined. I think they also got one meal served before each game. It didn't seem like the coaches cared too much or at least put much effort into diet, nutrition and exercise.
  3. I didn't really come out and say it but this is kind of what I was getting at. With the big bats that we've drafted the last few years the question seems to be where can they hurt us the least defensively. Obviously you need to draft good hitters but when they don't have a position you wind up where the Brewers are now with a few DH's and guys playing out of position and a below average to very below average defensive hurting your pitching staff.
  4. Despite their listed height Casey looks the same height if not shorter than Prince. Height alone does not make a good or bad first basemen but that definitely was one of Prince's defensive liabilities and Casey will have the same deficiency. Casey has little mobility which will show itself more at first base when dealing with fielding balls while holding on runners and plays where the pitcher has to cover first. If we were to put Casey at first and Gamel at third Casey would have to deal with bad throws from Weeks and Gamel. It took Prince long enough to learn how to scoop and come off the base and we'll go through the same thing with Casey. Ultimately, and this is something I have said many times, we need to stop putting our worst defenders at first just because we have no other options. It's not just a first base problem it's an organizational problem. LaPorta moved to first, Lawrie moved to where ever he will end up, Gamel moved to where ever he will end up, Braun to the outfield, Hart moved around.
  5. I can only see McGehee being a worst defensive first baseman than Prince. I would prefer anyone but Casey moved the first.
  6. It's Hulk Hogan! Actually I think he was the mystery 3rd man but anyways... Since Doug won't comment I'm going to guess former Brewer or former Ranger. Possible candidates: Robin Yount Paul Molitor Bill Schroeder Jeff Cirillo Bobby Valentine Kevin Kennedy
  7. Keeping the old staff around makes me think that the new manager will be an internal hire. I know Doug said it wouldn't but it doesn't make sense to hire the staff before you hire the manager. I gotta say it will most likely be Randolph, maybe Money.
  8. I've only known one real Bucks fan in my entire life. I paid some attention last year and the year they went to the conference finals but other than that they don't interest me at all.
  9. If it's those two please be Listach. A manager isn't that important but since we have to have one I want one that's going to be on the bottom of the pile during a bench clearing brawl.
  10. I think it's about time we stop moving guys around. Whichever one (Hart, McGehee, Fielder) is traded this offseason that is the position that Gamel will play. Just wondering why everyone is so set on McGehee at first. I know he had knee issues which effect his mobility but moving him to first to replace Fielder will be a negative for the team since it will be a reduction in offense and probably defense. Casey will be learning a new position and, for as much as we liked to blame Prince's problems on his lack of height, Casey's listed as only 2 inches taller than Prince (which I'm not buying, I would say they are the same height). Also Gamel is listed as an inch shorter than Casey.
  11. I think the main point I forgot to mention was the Royals need cheap players. Prince and Hart cost too much for the position the Royals are in right now. Weeks is affordable now but will cost a lot soon. McGehee I suppose could be of value to them seeing as he will be cheap for a while but they have a couple first basemen already and their top prospects are 3rd basemen I believe. Would the Royal try to resign Price at the end of this year? Yes but there is no way he would. In KC Hart would be quite overpaid considering his inconsistent career and their lack of needing to win now. Weeks could be good for them but he's in a similar situation to Prince. Yes I agree minor leaguers are a crapshoot. If you look at what we've traded away really none of them have done anything. Brantley and LaPorta definitely still could and have had some success already but the rest haven't. Would Grienke help. Hells to the yes. But we cannot afford his next contract and will losing the minor leaguers we trade to get him be worth a few years of Zack. Most importantly I think getting Greinke means losing Prince. Those two contracts are probably too much to be able to afford.
  12. What does that mean "demand a trade"? Can't any player of any service time demand a trade whenever they want? If a player demands a trade does the team have to trade him?
  13. It's not like Kansas City is looking to fill holes, they'll want young, minor league players. Prince, Hart, McGehee, Weeks would be of little interest to get Greinke. I can't see any way to get Greinke that would not be devastating to the franchise's 5-8 year outlook.
  14. That's what I was thinking about. I wasn't sure if it was just free agents or any contract.
  15. New York Mets New York Yankees Chicago Cubs Chicago White Sox St. Louis Cardinals Two cities I never want to live in and an organization I would never want to play for (unless they offered me a lot of money).
  16. True. There are a lot of "might be's" in our division but in the AL West there are two serious competitors (one with lots of cash and one with lots of good young players) and Seattle is not anywhere close to those two right now. When you take into consideration that the Wild Card is almost guaranteed to come out of the east every year and the Twins, White Sox and Tigers are going to be contenders Seattle is in an even worse spot. They are middle of the pack in the AL at best. Once the starting pitching got sorted out did the Brewers not have one of, if not, the best record in the Central? This current team has the offense (with a down year from Braun and Prince) and the relief pitching to compete. Yes the starting pitching is suspect but the Brewers are in a much better position to contend next year than the Mariners are.
  17. Seattle has to compete against the Angels who have money to spend and are loaded with talent. The Rangers will be pretty good for a few more years and the Athletics should be competitive. Milwaukee has is competing against non-threats like Pittsburgh and Houston. St. Louis could very well be on the downswing and Chicago is a mess. Cincinnati is the only long term threat I see in the division. If Seattle and Milwaukee have equal talent, Milwaukee has the much better outlook as they have much more inferior competition.
  18. I'm not positive but because he signed I don't think he can be traded without his approval.
  19. Tonight's show may have been slightly lacking in comedy but I thought it was great as it showed a lot more of the Micheal character and he seemed to realize some of his faults. I thought Dwight was great and the old Andy may be coming back.
  20. I gotta say if a manager is looking for the team with the best chance to win Milwaukee has to be near or at the top of the list. Chicago - some talent but a mess in general, can spend money for upgrades though Mets - basically same as the Cubs Seattle - great pitching but not much else, 2009 was probably a fluke Pittsburgh - no chance to win anytime soon Toronto - good team but can't compete in the AL East Florida - maybe the best chance to win but an owner who you never know what he will commit to do Arizona - Gibson pretty much guaranteed the job if he doesn't have it already, plus somewhat rebuilding If a manager was looking for a job that would offer the chance to compete now Milwaukee would have to be at least second on that list unless they are drinking the big market (Chicago, NYC) koolaid.
  21. LG does not make a great product. My current phone I've had for 4 years now is an LG. It shuts off very frequently on its own. I was pretty frustrated till I went to find a new phone and found out that almost all LG's do that. After some research I, like you, decided I didn't want to pay for an expensive phone with all those extra features I didn't want and have stuck with this one for a while. It sucks that it shuts off all the time but it makes and sends calls so it does what I need it to do.
  22. I'll throw a couple names out for discussion. Ted Simmons - Somewhat of a retread but I think I've read that he's the top candidate for Seattle. Ron Wotus - Bench coach for the Giants. Purely a guess on my part. Managed in the Giants system, won manager of the year once.
  23. Agree with all of this. Obviously Prince and Braun have a swagger about them. So do ARod and Pujols and just about every great player in every sport. I never once saw anyone on this team do anything that was disrespectful to other players or teams. The cannonball thing was pretty borderline, but everyone including veterans and coaches were involved, but other than that this is just a team that has fun. It's too bad grandpa Ken was more worried about crying to teacher about guys getting hit and making sure everyone was "mature" instead of trying to form relationships with his players. Yost was a terrible in game manager but it was obvious guys loved him and wanted to play for him. Ken is the exact opposite of Ned and in some ways I think that is worse.
