  1. I'm guessing those rings are expensive. I doubt Mark approves of this strategy.
  2. Have to wonder how legit the elbow injury today.. probably legit, but it is rather convenient at the precise moment CC was going to take him out. Without the injury, he is likely released. As is, he is paid league minimum salary through the end of injury, I presume. Or is he guaranteed his salary already for the rest of the year regardless of what happens? I doubt that. Craig looked pretty shocked and upset when Axford waved the trainer out.
  3. Stearns said they were in discussions to acquire him before the deadline. Maybe he was brought in now just to get through COVID but they had their eye on him for a while. Having said that I doubt he pitches again because of whatever his injury is. His first couple batters were fine. The two hits weren't hit hard and he was throwing strikes. Then something broke and the velocity dropped and he couldn't throw strikes.
  4. Considering all the Brewers that have tested positive so far were vaxxed what difference does it make? He almost certainly got it from one of them.
  5. Obviously if a 39 year old TV broadcaster is getting a gig before JJ, there is more to his abrupt dismissal from the Nationals and subsequent disinterest from all the other clubs, that the fans haven't been let in on yet. Axford has been dominating AAA while Jeffress is at home Tweeting. I don't know why JJ isn't in some organization right now but Axford getting a shot over him is not surprising at all.
  6. Everyone throws 98 now. That's nothing special. His problem was always control. When he wasn't throwing strikes he was a gas can.
  7. Why didn't Toronto bring him up? They traded for relief pitching at the deadline but never gave him a chance.
  8. He may not have wanted to come to Milwaukee but I doubt that was the main reason a trade didn't happen.
  9. Madrigal will need to be traded by the time the Cubs are relevant again so I don't see it as a big deal in relation to the Brewers.
  10. What are the Mets going to do when they have two healthy under performing SS's? I can't see either Lindor or Baez gracefully giving way time at SS.
  11. Am I the only one that doesn't get the love affair with Gibson? He's been bad to average over 1000+ innings his whole career and now at 33 he's figured something out? His BABIP and H/9 are way low compared to the rest of his career. His BB/9 and K/9 are essentially the same. Seems like he's just had a lot of good luck this year.
  12. Seems like all these moves so far are taking the Yanks from above average to a little slightly more above average. The division is just about out of question and the wild card is crowded. Could very well be a whole of action to not even make the postseason. Cashman has done a really good job the last decade or so of not doing stupid things. Wonder if this is coming from above.
  13. Trade our closer for another BP arm and get a prospect too. Rays gonna Ray.
  14. Jesus hasn't been anything special in the majors and is getting rocked in the minors right now. Not saying he is insignificant but I think a lot of his value has plummeted this season.
  15. It seems like quite a few players all over the league this year have been sent on rehab assignment only to be activated and immediately DFA'd. Maybe Shaw is next.
  16. I look forward to Baez taking a baseball in the face from Garrett and then proceed to take many fists from him as well in the future. Can't stand both of them but let's not forget Amir went into the other team's dugout by himself to fight someone.
  17. [sarcasm]Probably still cheating. Using morse code through the stadium PA or something.[/sarcasm]
  18. I get the reasoning behind it but it's still stupid to me. Spiders would have been a marketing bonanza. Kids would love it because it's spiders. The millennial/gen z type would love it because it's retro and they love everything that's retro. Old people would love it because of the history behind it. Guardians appeals to the people of Cleveland, which I guess is the point, but no one outside of Cleveland gets it and most think it's dumb.
  19. That's not going to happen. If there's that big of a difference between bullpen mounds and game mounds then MLB needs to do something to make sure there is some consistency between the two.
  20. I always thought it had as much to do with getting used to the mound, than it was about the actual pitches thrown. That's what they say but who cares, deal with it. Limit it to 2 throws on the game mound. Let's keep the game moving.
  21. I've been playing mens amateur ball for 15+ years. A 9 inning game for us takes 1:45 to 2:30 (even that is rare). Whether the score is 1-0 or 11-10 games take about 2 hours with 15 minutes either way. The two biggest time savers are guys not mulling around between pitches and half inning breaks only take about a minute. Nothing is ever going to change about inning breaks in MLB because that's where the money comes from. Although I wouldn't care if they ran commercials over the first few pitches of an inning with the game in a small box in the corner like NASCAR does. Something needs to be done about the time between pitches. Umpires need to make the batter stay in the box and get the pitcher to throw the pitch.
  22. Am I remembering correctly that the wrestler who was Isaac Yankem is Cain? Kane, actually. Cain killed his brother. Kane just trapped his in a funeral parlor and set it on fire to try to burn him alive. But failed.
  23. Reading your post pissed me off. What the hell is the matter with people? Not every aspect of one's life should require a personal soundtrack. Do they blast music while out fishing on a quiet lake as well? As for the bolded part, I don't think you'd look like a jerk for asking them to turn it off, that's being pretty darn polite. I don't even think you'd be a jerk for saying turn that crap off right now. Unfortunately this has become a thing in golf over the last 5 years or so. They even advertise speakers made specifically for use on golf courses in golf magazines. I don't get it at all. A large part of the enjoyment of golf, for me anyways, is the serenity and nature. I have been golfing for over 40 years now and I have just noticed a general lack of awareness or courtesy for others within 4 somes as well as all others on the course (as noted bybjkrautk). Like having non-quiet conversations while others are hitting, parking carts or leaving bags in front of the green (instead of closer to the next tee), and low awareness of playing slow. All of these use to be widely accepted golf protocols that experienced golfers followed and passed along to inexperienced golfers. Not really the case anymore. I would say that its a generational thing, but not necessarily the case. Several of the guys that are playing music in our league are my age or even older. Blame Rodney Dangerfield. He started it.
  24. Give him a raise. He did exactly what he's paid to do. Is anyone actually talking about the all star game right now? No, it's all about this piece of human garbage and his mouth.
