  1. Manny Parra is doing the Brewers a nice favor handing the Cubs a victory over the Reds.
  2. Blows my mind how you take Axford out of the closers role to put him into the most high leverage situation possible in the 7th. I hope he gets them outta this jam.
  3. Have there been any updates on Ramirez's injury? Will he actually return after 16 days on the DL?
  4. Hi, I'm recruiting a replacement owner for a dynasty franchise keeper league going into its 4th year. The owner moved out of country and we need someone to take over the team. It's a well thought out and competitive keeper league. Most of owners are Wisconsin guys brewer fans, and some participants are active here on bf.net. Some key league details: - Entry fee is $50. Payouts are $350/$150/$50 + $50 for regular season first place. - League play is in Fantrax. - Auction style draft. The auction is actually held in ESPN, results imported to Fantrax. - Auction currently scheduled for March 27 at 8pm central. There may be some flexibility but it would be outstanding if the owner could meet the currently scheduled time. - Head to Head scoring - Teams have a $280 team budget. Roster is filled out via keepers and auction. - Teams must keep a minimum of 8 players, but we could drop the requirement down to 6 for a replacement owner if desired. - Teams are allowed to keep up to $125 in salaries. There is no limit in the # of keepers below $125 - The league offers a combination of one year and multi year player contracts. - 25 man MLB roster, 5 player minors roster. Minors draft is seperate after the auction. If you are interested PM me or email springtrainingdynasty@gmail.com Thanks! Also, here is the 2012 roster of the available team. Montero, Miguel C - ARI10 Pena, Carlos 1B - TB5 Uggla, Dan 2B - ATL17 Beltre, Adrian 3B - TEX13 Reyes, Jose SS - MIA 36 Cabrera, Melky OF - SF6 Ethier, Andre OF - LAD14 Kubel, Jason, OF - ARI1 Upton, B.J. 5. Just want to say I found the WBC games surprisingly entertaining and am looking forward to USA vs Puerto Rico. I like USA's changes with Gio pitching. But the D.R. has a pretty solid team. I watched WBC this past weekend and found the games to be pretty intense, much more so than "just another spring training game"
  6. Franchise mode. Thank you Raw Biz!!! I am so grateful for your post and the start of my season. 0-1 so far and I also lost 2 spring training practice games, but I expect to improve in time. My pitching is really good, I just can't hit a lick. Wainwright two hit shutout me on opening day and one hit was a leadoff bunt single by Aoki.
  7. I ended up going with ps3 & MLB2k12. Game play is awesome and I'm impressed by the graphics. I don't really get the season mode however. It seems like I'm unable to play a full season on this game at this point, because the "MLB Today Season Mode" is a counterpart to the real MLB season which is already over. When I try to start a season they automatically sync to the end of the season. Very disappointing to me as all I want to do is play a full season. If anyone knows a way around I'd be interested. Otherwise I'm going back to mlb2k11.
  8. No chance he takes $500k to $1 mil less to play for the brewers.
  9. Outrageous. Myers should have been enough. They also threw in Odorizzi AND Montgomery. Andrew Friedman must be very giddy.
  10. I am looking for opinions on MLB 12 The SHow. Has anybody played it? WHAT are your thoughts? Is this the best MLB game out there or what else? What system is best for game play (xbox, ps3, etc)? How long does it take to play a game? I don't have a gaming system since like NES or Sega, so any advice is appreciated.
  11. Balfour rage? A's fans going wild. This is cool. If Oakland wins and yankees lose then Oakland is the #1 seed in the AL. That would be nice.
  12. Here is a quote from Doug Melvin: "He never asked about [playing time], he's just confident that he can come over and show us his skill set," Melvin said. "He wants the challenge of playing here in Major League Baseball. He's met a lot of challenges in Japan. He's won batting titles, he's won Gold Gloves, he's been an All-Star. You have to talk to him, but I think he [likes] the challenges of coming over here." He actually took a pretty big pay cut to prove himself in MLB. He was earning $4.2 Million/year in Japan. Another note, he has a good chance to receive around $1m incentives the next couple years if he stays healthy and is the everyday outfielder. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7494442/milwaukee-brewers-norichika-aoki-set-earn-1m-2012-125m-2013
  13. How about this scenario: Brewers 6-0 Dodgers 5-1 Cards 2-4 Three way tie for the 2nd Wild Card spot. What happens then? You have to have a play in to the play in game, to get to the wild card play in game. However the MLB schedule only provides one off day between the end of the regular season and the wild card game. I guess they'd have to change that. This may seem like a bazaar scenario but in the American League there is only a two game difference between Baltimore, Tampa, and Aneheim. Throw in the Yankees and it's only a 3 game difference between the four teams. This is something that will happen sometime if not this year.
  14. Brewers 6-0 Cards 2-4 One game play in Wild card baby!!
  15. oh nevermind it's the 9th. I was flipping back and forth several games got confused.
  16. Is this considered a save situation, if Axe finishes it out? 4 run lead with two runners on in the 8th.
  17. Right now I think the NL ROY candidates in order should be: 1) Wade Miley, 2) Mike Fiers, 3) Todd Frazier, 4) Nori Aoki, 5) Bryce Harper. Out of the 5 candidates Mike Fiers has been by far the most impressive, but that's only over 66 IP and 11 starts compared to Miley who has been solid all season long with 121 IP and 21 starts. If Fiers keeps this up for the rest of the year he should certainly be a lock for the award. The way Harper has been playing recently his name just barely belongs in the conversation, let alone receiving the award. Trout in the AL by a mile although Cespedes and Will Middlebrooks are having ROY type years.
  18. That was my thought exactly. For some reason it disappoints me that Ichiro isn't a Mariner for his whole career now.
  19. So after playing OF for most of a decade and a whopping 40 odd games at 1b he can't play OF now? Seems your complaints about IsHikawa and RR get further stretched all the time. Further stretched? Please... The guy is a below average outfielder to begin with, he has been playing 1B on a regular basis, and doing a damn good job of it. Now we throw him out in the OF every so often so Ishikawa can get playing time? Not saying he can't play OF any longer, though his skills there have greatly diminished, along with his speed. Just don't like the idea of it. As far as RR goes, the guy couldn't manage himself out of a wet paper bag much less the Milwaukee Brewers. He is a horrible manager, and I am entitled to my opinion. Yes one thing that is always clear is that you entitled to your opinion.
  20. Fx said they were borderline so I won't complain. I guess the point I was trying to make is that Aoki would chose not to swing at strike 3 because the exact same pitch was called a ball earlier in the count. the ump is supposed to be consistent. Fx doesn't really factor into that.
  21. Ball one and strike three to Aoki were the EXACT same pitch. He should be on first with a walk right now.
  22. I just added k-rod on 2 of 3 of my fantasy teams before this inning so yes I'm expecting him to do something good. Or perhaps I should say hoping/praying.
  23. One way to look at it - the average bullpen in the national league has a 67% save rate. The Brewers bullpen only has a 53% save rate (16 saves out of 30 chances). If the Brewers bullpen saved 67% of all chances, they would have 20 saves instead of 16 for a difference of 4 more wins. Then they wold be 42-40 instead of 38-44. 4 games out instead of 8. I'm sure there are more advanced ways to look at it, yet this sounds about right to me. There are also times when the bullpen comes into a tie game or a close game, and ruin everything, which doesn't relate to save opportunities. So maybe they would have another 1-2 wins if they just keep the team in close games, but I wouldn't know how to measure that against the league average. http://espn.go.com/mlb/stats/team/_/stat/pitching/league/nl/type/expanded
  24. Yeah, but it's not next year, and THIS year we still have Greinke, Marcum, K-Rod and a 106 million dollar payroll. I would say putting up a 2.29 ERA on a team that thus far hasn't been competitive is a waste. You can always take a seaon with no expectations and see what a guy has which is what we could and can do for next year. But for this year to have a guy have one of those freak rookie seaons where a guy catches the league maybe a little off guard and to put up an "Eldred," type season as I've referred to it all year(As in we that X-factor from the minors) I think it's a lttle waste. But if the Brewers aren't winning and in the race, the one thing that makes them truly fun to watch is their prospects. So there's that. And I still haven't given up yet. We have a chance as I stated to finish this half very strong and then we face the teams in front of us coming out of the break. If Rickie keeps it going, Luc gets back soon, and we keep pitching, rotation and the pen which until yesterday had looked good, I still think we're as good as the other teams in the race. I don't understand why Fiers performance "is a waste". Could you elaborate? I am truly curious about the point you make here. How is it a "waste" to have a good pitcher on a staff, even on a bad team? Is this a service time issue? Do you just want to see the Brewers lose even more games? Or how is it a waste?
