logan, I don't know how you can possibly say with 100% confidence that the Brewers can't get the pitching to contend when they have all of this excess offense. My advice to you is too keep an open mind.

Not at all. Right now he's the best starting pitcher we have on the team to this point in time. The best starting pitcher on a non-playoff team. Signing him was a huge waste of resources. It doesn't pay to sign guys like him if we are going to be an average team. The only reason why we are an average team is because we don't have the starting pitching rotation that's good enough. We have what will likely be the top offense in the NL or baseball 2 seasons in a row. It's an elite offense. The fact that we have Lohse is the 1 reason why this team has a good shot at contending next year, and what little hope we have this year of contending. The Brewers can sacrifice some of their offense to improve there pitching to the point of being a contender. It's about time they do this.

They don't really have the prospects, but they hopefully will have the MLB offensive ones to be able to dangle in a trade. I really wish Weeks was doing well, and Hart comes back strong, because they are the ideal candidates to trade. I'd also dangle Gallardo depending on the return.

I'm furious at the Brewers management thusfar. Both RR and Doug Melvin. Here's why, 1.) Doug Melvin and RR both know that Axford has been struggling for a couple years now prior to this season. It wasn't a secret. They chose to pay him that 5 million, when they didn't have too. So, they effectively handcuffed themselves financially to have to commit to him for an extended period of time. That was a horrible gamble that didn't have a good chance to work out. This move has cost the Brewers a few games already. 2.) RR clearly doesn't know how to manage a pen. After the second or third week of the season I saw enough of this bullpen to know that Figaro needed to pitch in the 8th and Henderson the 9th. RR if he would have done this this team would have at least 3 more wins right now. 3.) I'd like to know what expectations this Brewers management has with this starting pitching staff. We all know it's a gamble to go with 80% young pitching in the rotation to start the season, but clearly I'm sure they expected the rotation to do a little better than what they are currently doing. Something else that I just don't understand is that we all know that the Brewers offense heading into this season had offense to spare, because it was the top offense in the NL. Most knew that Segura would make it better by playing more and based off of what he did in the winter. Because the Brewers inability to develop a couple top pitchers from their system, and because they want to compete every year, why they didn't dangle Hart in the off-season to try to get pitching makes no sense. They could still do it this season if he comes back hot, but as of right now it might be too late, because they are about to be 10.5 games out after 1.5 months of play. This is a huge failure on Doug Melvin. 4.) The Brewers should have been thinking pitching this off-season. 2-3 total pitchers. They got Lohse thanks to Mark A, which so far is looking like a great move. However, they needed 1 more pitcher like him, and perhaps a solid number 4 SP. 5.) The Brewers have got to be thinking right now that they need to sacrifice some of their offense for pitching come June/July should they still be in contention. I'll also add that they need to strongly consider trading Gallardo for a big time trade for some serious pitching. Wasn't Boston interested in him? I still believe this team can contend should they get pitching, but when it comes to Gallardo, I'm just not that high on him and his contract is close to expiring, and this season would be a great time to trade him to a contender to reestablish the Brewers pitching and make this team a contender. I personally think that the Brewers can't pull off a trade for a greinke or marcum anymore, because they just don't have the prospects, so now they will need to trade their Major League talent. Thankfully they have a great offense where they can spare a player of two. I don't really have a problem with how they are handling Weeks. They don't really have a choice, but a decision will need to be made soon. Axford needs to sit or be demoted to AAA. Why haven't the Brewers called up Rob Wooten? Send Axford down and bring him up.

Man that was a blast by Segura. The best one yet. I hate that the Brewers/ Pirates game are always blackout in my area....

I knew it! It made way too much sense to do it. However, they might have waited a little too long or not have been serious enough a month ago, and that probably cost them. When I said that the Brewers should have done it after a "total" of 219 MLB AB's I was basically saying they need to get this done Immediately, "before Segura knows what he's capable of." That's my direct quote. I don't know what he will get now. Tulo got 31 million, which was the largest contract ever for a player with less than 2 years of service time. Segura could beat that.

Gallardo isn't the same pitcher and every season that goes by he loses velocity. He's down 2 mph from just 2 years ago. His control is slipping as well. I will be very happy with this team after we get 2 really good pitchers. Right now I'd trade a couple offensive players for a couple stud pitching prospects. Also the Brewers offense is going to be the best that we have ever had once Lucroy starts to get going and Hart comes back. I'm really hoping Weeks repeats what happened last season by starting out really bad (It's happening) and then really gets going, so we can package him in a trade with Hart come July for the pitching we desperately need. Hart is in his last contract season, and Weeks is the perfect player to trade with 1 more guaranteed season and the fact he's very inconsistent offensively (hot and cold) and in my opinion a below average defender. The Brewers offense will be fine without these 2 players as we have found out, because the additions of Gomez/Segura breaking out make up for it. This team needs 2 really good pitchers.

The Brewers offense is going to be tops in baseball again, and I'm confident about that more than ever. This team is 1 really good SP away from being able to win it all. A mid-season trade for one is imminent in my opinion.

I think it might be time to think about stealing someone from the Cardinals or Pirates organization that has a good eye/philosophy for pitching.

I feel bad for the guy. He's likely done. I always hoped he'd do well.

Segura has 4 home runs in the last 30 or so AB's. He's already showing power, which is much faster than I thought he would. For those that think the Brewers should wait and sign him till after this season is over with, do you really want to pay him that extra 20 million that you know he will get should you wait? It's making more sense more than ever to just extend him right now.

God I love playing the Pirates. They make the game entertaining in many different ways. For all we know the next excuse they will come up with is they got distracted at the plate by Lucroy's gas issues or by front row Amy.

Or maybe he's belonged there all this time and we will finally see what he can really do.

I'll concede that Axford ran into some bad luck that game that lead to the runs, because all that you have to do is look at the pitches they hit and the type of hits. However, you have to look at this from a bigger angle. How many bad luck games can a reliever have before it becomes the norm and you just fault the reliever? Apparently Axford has had many of these types of games, so it's the new normal for him, and he should accept the responsibility. Axford is WAY to inconsistent to put up respectable stats for a reliever over the course of a full season and he needs to go. I want the Brewers to call up Robert Wooton. He deserves a chance in the 8th inning. Go young and save 5 million next season.
