  1. Does anybody really doubt that the Brewers will be in the market for another SP at mid-season this season? This in my opinion has nothing to do with Peralta's outing today, because I believe he's going to figure it out, and he just going through some development kinks that young pitchers tend to go through, but rather what's been happening with Narveson and Fiers. The Brewers pitching depth at SP isn't very quality or deep.
  2. That umpire at home plate is a giant. He's twice the size of Sandoval.
  3. I'm probably in the minority here, but CC Sabathia is the 1 pitcher I would have offered between 7 year/160 - 9 year/200 million if I was the Brewers owner, and I would have bet he would have agreed to stay since the Brewers had negotiating rights with him prior to anybody else. His arm is built to last and he is the most durable pitcher other than Verlander in the Majors. I was obvious to me he would have lived up to the contract.
  4. I sincerely question your 75% statistic. I think the number is less than 50%. You arent taking in account kids, families, non-drinkers, designated drivers, etc. Yes, lots of drunk drivers leave Miller Park each game but that doesn't make what Yo did a "common mistake." Let's take your statistic then. 50%. That 1.5 million fans drunk and a ton of drunk drivers after each Brewers home game. It's very common in Milwaukee during baseball season. I know the city and I've gone to hundreds of Brewers games, so I also know the environment. Are you honestly going to deny that tons of Brewers fans drink at Miller Park and say that the majority of them don't drive home drunk? I'm sure as heck not going too. Especially, in a city like Milwaukee. I know better.
  5. Are us Brewers fans really going to be this hard on Gallardo when after each of the 81 Brewers home games 75% of the ballpark is drunk after each game? That's 2,250,000 fans a year. Think of all the drunk drivers... I'll just say that Gallardo made a common mistake in these parts, and hopefully he's learned his lesson. Go Brewers!
  6. You forgot call up Olmsted/Gennett and demote Badenhop/Prince. Sit Weeks for a few games and play Gennett, Rickie could benefit for some time off and time in the batting cage. No, I'm not kidding at all.
  7. This is a move that DM/MA would likely never do, and if they do it, it will be at the last possible moment or for a can't miss mlb ready top 5 prospect. A prospect that a team likely wont want to give up, even for Yovani Gallardo. I would be in favor of this move depending on how our young pitchers in the rotation shape up, and how Thornburg and Hellweg develop in the minors. I would target a top hitting prospect in return. The Brewers are really going to need another good hitter in their line-up in the next couple years.
  8. We are only 3.5 games back of the Cards right now and I'm feeling very good about our chances to win the division. We are coming off of a win vs the Cards and the Reds just lost 5 in a row on the road, and just got swept by Pitt. All is good right now for Brewers fans.
  9. The book is out on Rickie Weeks, and it didn't take long for them to figure it out. Just throw heaters down the middle of the plate to him for the first 2 strikes and then throw breaking pitches down and away and he will be lucky to make contact the entire AB. Rickie Week's bat is too slow to catch up. Look at the footage of his last 25 AB's and look at the pitches he's swinging at and missing. Remember the Rickie Weeks that could catch up to any fastball that was thrown to him, because of his excellent bat speed? That Weeks is gone.
  10. Weeks's bat speed had decreased to the point where he can't hit a fastball greater than 95 mph. Power pitchers now are having their way with Weeks at this point in his career because they over power him. Weeks needs to change his swing, because there is obviously something mechanically wrong with him. It might get to the point where he needs to be demoted to AAA to work things out. I don't normally get this dramatic after so little plate appearances, but something is really wrong with him at the plate, and it's mechanical. It's adjustment time.
  11. danzig6767, Not all relief pitchers throw 95+ mph fastball with a 4 seamer. Figaro throws a 2 seamer with downward action once it get's to home plate. Henderson throws a fastball with movement for strikes all the time at will. He should clearly be the closer for that reason. Axfords problem isn't just location, it's also because of pitch selection with 2 strikes.
  12. I'm sorry, but the reason why Axford shouldn't be the closer is simple. He's a 2 pitch pitcher that has no movement on his fastball, he throws his curveball up and down the middle of the plate, and pitch selection. I agree with thecrew on that part. Axford shouldn't be throwing his fastball on a 2 strike count for his out pitch when his curveball is locating well, it should be his curveball that he throws, but he needs to keep it low and in front of the batter. Axford has shown no history of consistently locating both pitches for the majority of a season. The home runs are happening this season, because he's giving the batters his straight fastball when they know it's coming on 2 strikes, and believe me they are trying to hit it out. I have also seen home runs on his curveball like the last one he gave up, because it was up and over the plate, instead of down and in front of the batter. He's a mess and I'm in total favor of releasing him. I think these problems can't be fixed and if they could have been they already would have been. Jim Henderson in my opinion could be a very good closer, because he has movement on all his pitches and he can throw strike after strike after strike. He also has a history of closing games in the minors I believe, so the mentality is there. Also, right now I'd make Figaro the 8th inning man. I don't like Mike Gonzalez and blame Melvin for that one. We need 2 hard throwers who keep the ball down and throw strikes regularly added to this bullpen. It would be nice if Michael Olmsted rebounded from his horrible first outing and made his case for Milwaukee ASAP. He's needed very much.
  13. We'll should we DFA or demote Axford the bullpen should be greatly improved.
  14. Olmsted had a terrible outing for Triple-A Nashville the other day. Perhaps he's not ready..
  15. Nah.. He just thrown a lot of pitches. Davis is showing why he belongs at 1B. haha
  16. Mike Fiers wants to go cruising? I think I will go with him. Sounds fun.
  17. Heck, start Josh Prince at 1B. We know what we are going to get in Yuni B and Gonzalez, and just the uncertainty makes Prince the better option.
  18. What kind of a line-up is that? Holy crap! Somebody just shoot me now. Oh my god.. Shouldn't the fact that Gomez just got 25 million dollar commitment from the Brewers mean he's earned the right to be moved up in the line-up? Or did we just pay him 25 million because of his defense? I would seriously ask this question to the Brewers brass and sound pissed off doing it. This is just stupidity by RR and I'm one of his biggest supporters of his defensive shifts and aggressiveness style of play, but I can't defend him on this and he deserves the scrutiny. I'm so confused.
  19. This is my biggest issue with Front Row Amy and I am a 30 year old guy. Hot chick for sure but I heard she lives in Oshkosh, which isn't exactly Wauwatosa or even Delafield, so that means to be there by first pitch she is leaving at 5ish and not getting home until after 11. Seems like a huge chunk of your kids lives are being missed. There's nothing wrong with it at all. We are talking 4-5 hours every home game. Not entire days. For someone who is a die hard Brewers fan one can make it work. Plus, can't take young kids all the time or hardly at all during the school season. It would be hard having both parents at the game with the kids at home for that many games as well. I'd do the exact same thing, but when the kids get older I'd add another seat or two to the package. I don't know how old her kids are.
  20. Then have them beg to be pardoned by jjkoestler. 4 beers a piece should do it.
  21. You have got to be kidding me...
