  1. wibadgers, there's this myth that he's had two trials in Milwaukee. The reality is that he didn't have one fair shake. This Spring he was supposed to compete for the 3b job, but who in their right mind actually believed they'd play him rather than McGehee (who had deserved first crack).
  2. Ben's such a talented pitcher that at 90% of what he once was, he could make another $30-40 million in the game. And who knows, it could come back stronger.
  3. I'd always take a shot on a guy like Sheets with the Brewers. I hope he has the surgery and rehabs. He has far too much money to make in baseball to not give it a try
  4. Al, I'd imagine its much more light. In northwestern Montana (I go there for vacation each year) the sun sets about 10:15 with twilight till sometime between 11 and 11:30. I can't imagine Alaska! I once played 72 holes of golf in a day there, withing rushing and with hour-long breaks between rounds. We also didn't tee off until 8 am.
  5. the team needs to get very hot. We're talking "the Rockies in September a few years back" or "Oakland winning 20 straight" kind of hot. If we only lose 3 or 4 more games this month, yes, we could win the division or the wildcard
  6. he's already looking far better than Gomez just because he puts the ball in play. His attitude also is much better
  7. I'm excited for a starter at each of the 4 top levels today....throw in Yo going for a sweep!
  8. Big Brock nearly cracking the .250 barrier. He's been pretty hot lately. He seems to always be a 2nd half player
  9. Diskono, that reminds me of the Bucks. Piggly Wiggly is a huge sponsor, and I think I've only seen one ever, near the town of Jackson (I think that's it).
  10. As for the Ankiel comment, I'd take a flier! He was the nastiest pitcher I'd seen in a long time.
  11. For me, I really wish we hadn't done the Balfour for McClung trade. I felt fans fell in love with McClung's velocity rather than effectiveness. I really thought Balfour was another Chad Fox. Imagine having him and Axford together in the 8th/9th innings!
  12. endaround, you gave the stats. But I also feel Stetter was sort of screwed over. He'd had success in MLB, and then in spring they have him work on both sidearm (for lefties) and over-the-top (for righties). He'd NEVER gotten righties out going back to AA or A-ball. Then he gets sent to the minors. That had to be hard on him as he just thought he was working on things, not competing for a spot. Now in AAA he's always pitching a full inning.
  13. Al, the Brewers need bats, as they've had 2 available pinch hitters the last few days. They need to bring up at least 2 minor league hitters in Sept
  14. trwi7, I added Narron because he's been dealing, and because the Brewers have a history of sending non-prospect journeyman type pitchers to the AFL to see if they can get out advanced hitters. I'm thinking of Wolfe and Bausher, but I know there have been others.
  15. Do we know what the Brewers' plans with Lamontagne are? It seemed they had him fast-tracked as a reliver, but now he's starting.
  16. As for someone saying we wouldn't add Farris or others since they're not already on the 40man roster... if they have to be added in the offseason anyways, adding them in September wouldn't burn an option. As for Katin, I figure he has to be Rule V eligible and it's to the point now where the Brewers might want to see if he can be a righty bat off the bench. Adding him to the 40-man roster then DFA'ing him in the offseason shouldn't be a problem if we need the spot. If we're way out of it, it would make sense to let Braun and Hart have some days off in Sept
  17. I'll add Narron to my list. Perhaps Periard or Wooten if healthy.
  18. Given the lack of an exciting season (again), I figure that perhaps it's time to take the discussion from the minor league forum and bring it here. Who seems likely to be a Sept callup? I figure some bats, just because we need hitters! My thoughts: Cain, Gamel, and perhaps Cruz, Farris, or Katin P- Jeffress, Stetter, Scarpetta, Narron, Villanueva, Rivas, with Butler and Rogers as possible. I don't see any of these guys playing Fall Ball or Winter Ball due to innings pitched, but it might be nice to have them in the big leagues getting 5 innings apiece. Plus, we've already burned the options with them...nothing to lose.
  19. wow..big Evan. So is there hope for Arnett? Either way, I'm digging it!
  20. If Arnett gets a vote, then so should Big Evan, Adams, and Lintz.
  21. not sure how accurate the minor league gamecasts are, but if the Huntsville one appeared to show a lot of pitches barely missing the strikezone
  22. fondy, seems like Heckathorn on his A-game except one inning
  23. Me too, although I prefer it when he brings in a reliever (Cappy?) that is capable of finishing the game instead of using 3-4 others
  24. David Johnson has been promoted slowly, but always has pretty good numbers. I wonder if he could be a middle innings guy next year??
  25. If Hart goes to first, then suddenly Gamel's defense will improve dramatically. Having a fat 5'10" first baseman with a small wingspan is a huge disadvantage when Hart is 6'6" with a longer wingspan. Hart could be like a Derek Lee at first base.
