  1. It's not how you start...it's how you finish--right? I can't help but notice a lot of the Farm teams are in contention in the 2nd half. Some pitching is coming together. Some hitting is thriving. I'd really love to see Green, Richardson, Gamel, etc finish well.
  2. Stevo, I agree about Gomez and Cain playing every day. Cain in Milwaukee, Gomez in Huntsville. Seriously, his performance has been so bad that he needs a wake up call that's lower than AAA
  3. Brock K's season is mirroring last year in Wisconsin where he was having a hard time getting over .230 until around now. If he and Krieger (someone I really liked after last year) get going, this team could get hot in a hurry.
  4. Igor, that makes sense...which is why I don't think it'll happen. Last year Gamel would perform with the bat and the glove, then sit for 3 days. I hope Gomez goes to AAA soon, although I think a wakeup call to A+ or AA is in line. It worked wonders for Halladay, and frankly Gomez needs some humbling.
  5. Lots of solid starters going tonight. I'm hoping Stosh, Krestalude, and Seidel continue taking steps forward
  6. I've loved seeing the Journal Sentinel ridicule the Brewers' offense the last few days, especially Gomez. They've also mentioned how skewed the numbers are, with 17 games already in which we've scored 0 or 1 run. Sorry boys, we're on pace to finish with 20% of our games in which we were pretty much done the minute the opponent scored their first run.
  7. The best CF I've seen in person was Fernando Perez, whom Colby and I wanted the Brewers to acquire several times. Gomez hasn't made the spectacular plays, but he has made all the routine ones. I can't say he's been a benefit though, because it's got to be impossible to have avg team defense when you have Hart, Weeks, and Fielder playing on the right side of the diamond
  8. Umm, the Pirates thought that roughly 17 years ago when they released some guy named Tim Wakefield. How many teams thought Jaime Moyer wasn't more than a 5th starter? He's a lefty with good stuff and past success, so he'll get an infinite number of chances
  9. I've thoughts of a lot of scenarios for next year. Here's one I'd love to see but likely won't. -Trade Fielder for 1 big league ready young pitcher and 2-3 young prospects (much like the Sabathia deal) -Sign Hart to a 5 year $40 million deal; move him to 1st base (gain bigger target at 1b, likely upgrade the defense all-around at all 4 IF and in RF with this one move) -Sign Weeks to a 5 year $42 million deal; move to RF -Cain in CF -either McGehee at 3b and Farris at 2b, or McGehee at 2b and Gamel at 3b. (one year later, have Green and Lawrie join the mix) Trading Fielder and Hart is fine with me, but we need to give up on Weeks at 2b seeing as we have McGehee, Lawrie, and Green who all likely can play it better than him (all likely still below average, though). Heck, we even have Farris.
  10. RyDogg, I'd love to take the Fielder offer and divide it between Hart and Weeks. The big concern I have is that I like Gamel, Cain, and LAwrie, and that's far too many righties.
  11. Cody had been one of the guys I most looked forward to entering the year. I wonder if he's been working on any biomechanical changes that just took a while to work.
  12. igor, I'd love Hart at 1b, but the problem is that while he wants to stay, his agent isn't willing to talk
  13. I've been waiting and hoping for Lintz and Frederickson...At least the big lefty has had a few moments lately
  14. adam, it's almost like major league 3. The only difference is the Brewers can't beat big league teams
  15. To answer the original question, I hear that if attendance drops low enough, Attanasio can move the team to Miami...we just need to lose more
  16. Brettac, exactly my thoughts! It's pathetic. Heck, if they're not putting Cain in CF then they need to alternate--when Gomez starts, Counsell needs to start; when Edmonds starts, Escobar can start. With an awful defense and mediocre pitching, we can't afford to have 1/3rd of the lineup being automatic outs.
  17. The Brewers need to realize what they have. Gomez needs to be demoted to AA. Macha needs to be fired yesterday. Cain needs to be in CF. Counsell needs two starts per week at shortstop (Escobar has looked fatigued lately). Braun needs to be honest about his injuries. Fielder needs to hit 3rd. Parra is part of the future and needs to start the rest of the year. It's a black hole in our lineup that we have Gomez, Escobar, and the pitcher as the bottom third when they start.
  18. crewcrazy...he's slightly above mediocre based on major league standards. Comparing him to Matt Meiske, David Hulse, Scott Podsednik, Marc Newfield, Turner Ward, and any of the other pathetic LF's we've had makes him look very good. His 116 OPS+ supports this. If he's being rewarded for being a solid player that played for 10 seasons in Milwaukee, then I can see this. Let's not confuse it with him being a great Brewer though.
  19. why? Vaughn, Burnitz, Cirillo, Loretta, Nilsson, etc all weren't given these perks. Jenkins was mediocre. He was a .277/.347 hitter with an average of 21 homers, 40 walks, 120 strikeouts, etc. He's the epitomy of a slightly above-average player that fans over-embraced.
  20. Hart has--at least lately--expressed an interest in staying in Milwaukee. Throw in that we could probably lock up Hart, Weeks, AND McGehee (not needed though) for 5 years combined for the cost of the deal Fielder will sign in free agency. We could probably get Weeks and Hart for 6 years at $50 million each. McGehee--due to lack of service time--would probably sign for roughly 6 years at $40 million with incentives.
  21. To be honest, I'd like Bush in the pen where he can either be short or long relief until someone is injured or he is traded. Parra is in the 2011 rotation, so I wouldn't demote him now. I'd also like to see the team do a 6 man rotation for a few weeks to limit the workloads of Parra and Gallardo.
  22. Tedaldtada29, were there any Kentrail haters? A few of us praised his OBP skills in Brevard, but few criticized him.
  23. In fairness. he uses stats as much as Ned, yet Macha hasn't gotten crucified for it. Heck, at least Ned was smart enough to consistently hit Kendall 9th. Still, Macha's right in those two quots. Coffey and Villy need to do a better job than they have lately, and the entire team is awful at bunting. Gomez is horrendous. Gomez, Hart, Escobar should bunt just enough to keep defenses honest. But of the trio, only Hart can get bunts down. Since he's looking more and more like a slugger, perhaps he should bunt more when struggling, less when hot.
