  1. JohnBriggs, not many top sluggers in MLB ever hit 24 homers in a minor league season. Recently we've been spoiled with guys like Howard and Ankiel sitting in AAA, slugging away. Playing an extra month in the big leagues definitely leads to an increase for most players
  2. FVBrewerfan, I'm with you. I always was intrigued by Macs, but I'd always been a PC fan. I purchased a Dell with Vista on it when I was student teaching, and I fell in love with the ease of use with Vista. Much like people always say about Macs, I found that Vista simply worked. Then I received a Macbook with my job, and I've now spent two years disappointed with Macs. Given their prices and my familiarity with Windows, I would never consider switching to Macs at home. I've had more computer faults and freezes, more internet connection droppages (is that a word?), and I find Office to be less user friendly with Macs. As a teacher, I don't care about multimedia presentations (although I prefer powerpoint to keynote). I don't care about Garageband. I like firefox, Word, Excel, Windows Mail (my only knock with Vista has been that my Outlook crashes all the time, so I switched to Windows Mail), and powerpoint. Throw in that PC's are around 40-67% of the price of comparable Macs, and I can't justify buying from Apple. At the same time, an Ipod Touch might be an investment soon.
  3. Phillips said what he felt. I wouldn't want him on my team if he didn't believe in us
  4. I still enjoy following Dillard. There's something to be said for guys that can go out and give a lot of innings, get wins, and do so with very low pitch counts
  5. I think Kendall should be back. It really baffles me how Counsell can slap the ball all over, but Kendall can't. I wonder if it's cause he gets such poor extension on his swing
  6. How does Tim Dillard compare with Porcello and Butler? Dillard cruised through the minors till struggling in AAA. Now back as a starter, he's holding his own, and he still only has his 90-93 mph sinker (was 93-96 as a reliever)
  7. Butler is like Narron and countless others...guys whose numbers are adequate, yet seem to never get promotions. Another was Wahpepah...good numbers, but took til this year for a serious AA look
  8. 16-12 Prince: 9 hr Braun: 8 hr Cameron: 3 hr
  9. My understanding is that it's illegal to ship beer-- only wine. You can transport it on a plane, but that's it
  10. Nice to see Wahpepah starting. He's heen handled in a unique way with the club. In A-ball he was okay as a starter. Then he seemingly spent 3 or 4 years in A+ putting up good numbers each year (especially in the groundball category), and now has finally hit AA
  11. I personally like the way McGehee plays. Solid defense, and the ball comes off his bat solidly...reminds me a bit of Ginter. Nice job for Mike Jones to get out of a jam or two. So far he's just giving up a bunch of singles. In the first he got a DP to help get out of an error-induced jam. He's also throwing strikes at about a 2:1 ratio...a good sign towards helping him limit walks.
  12. Great news on Mike Jones. Like I've said before, my hope is that with Tommy John surgery now about 24 months behind him (control should be returning) and shoulder surgery at least 40 months in the past, he should be feeling as good as in a long time. Having the TJ surgery may have bought him more time to work on the shoulder. One would think that if he throws well in AA, a promotion to AAA in July would make sense. Even at age 18, he had an advanced feel for pitching. So one would think that he should still have a good plan of attack and won't need long in AA (for what, his 5th season there?)
  13. LouisEly, since we drafted him, Katin has reminded me profile-wise of Jay Buhner. With Jack Z in Seattle, he could be heading there at some point to be the next Buhner
  14. Hall's pretty fast, just awful at stealing bases. We'll see with Lawrie as he moves up.
  15. well, Twins answered this question for now. Maybe we can storm back next time, though. In the end, it's playing the games, not comparing on paper that matters
  16. it's crazy that Brevard can have a scheduled off day given that seemingly half their schedule has been PPD. Memorial Day day baseball rocks, as in 1995 I caught my first (of 2) foul balls. Off Joe Oliver's bat, in the game when Seitzer got hit in the face be a Scott Erickson fastball
  17. Iribarren at 3b...I like it. Let's increase his versatility. I wouldn't be surprised if Green were playing 2b/3b in AAA by July 1st so that he's possibly able to be contributing in August. He can go back to AAA for 3b next year.
  18. The Brewers do a great job with their very loyal fanbase. Everyone in Milwaukee seemingly has a wardrobe of Brewers stuff. It seems like all women 13-25 have Braun or Fielder tshirts. We are a small market...we are the smallest market. But for now, we have become a medium-revenue generating club. There's a difference!
  19. I thought it was Wiley...as in Wiley Coyote, super genius
  20. I don't understand asking Frederickson to intentionally walk someone to load the bases. The guys struggles to throw strikes, and now they're gonna make him get all tense. 2 errors in the inning didn't help, but no extra basehits
  21. just wondering...hypothetical situation. You've got a remote island with little civilization. John Clark v Jack Bauer....who wins?
  22. The rainouts might be a blessing later in the year as the arms might be in AA and going strong in late August rather than fatigued. I assume this was a game just to get work in, as I would guess they weren't able to throw side sessions each day
  23. Wow, where's the defense? Braun with an okay throw into 3rd, only Counsell is backpedaling to get to the bag and Hall's standing off watching it bounce into the dugout. Come on Hall, be more head's up
  24. Paul253, you just summed up one of my major pet peeves with fans on this board. "Giving up on Parra?" I'd be trading him for one of the top 3-5 pitchers in the NL. Just because we're not keeping someone in a trade does not mean we're giving up on them. Remember, all players are assets. Yes we have some weird emotional attachment as Brewerfan.net users. But that's not giving up
