  1. Rogers' outing not all that rough. got 1.2 innings without problems. Then a walk (not sure if it's a 4 or 12 pitch walk), single, single and he's out of the game. What hurt was the reliever came in and got the inning-ending grounder only to see Brewer make an error.
  2. With Manny Parra...he hadn't thrown many pitches in the last month, so the Brewers probably felt he could handle it. I like that he says he wants to return to being a power pitcher. Just let the ball fly!
  3. Chad Robinson...wasn't there a rumor that he was released?
  4. legacy, the best part of that was that the fan was a White Sox fan that had no business there. Also, I remember the whole Gus the Wonderdog situation. Wasn't it gypsy moths?
  5. The stadium was designed to one day accomodate A/C, however, I've heard the cost in Phx/Hou can be around $50k per game! Plus, Miller Park doesn't completely seal. What I wish the Brewers would do is post on brewers.com a forecast for Roof open, panels open; roof open, panels closed; roof closed, panels open; roof closed panels closed. That's what they've done in AZ in the past. I always think they should err on the side of keeping the roof open, because fans that didn't bring sweatshirts were being stupid!
  6. Frederickson also with no WPs.
  7. I came across the 9th rounder, Pokorny in the Salt Lake City airport today. Saw a bit guy in a Brewers hat with Kent state on his backpack and went up and introduced myself, wishing him luck. Turns out the guy two infront of him in line for the Helena flight was also with the Brewers (based on his hat). He was roughly 3-4 inches taller than Pokorny and had sort of blond wavy hair. He appeared to also be a college player, based on his physical maturity. Both also carried laptops. I'm in MT now and may try to get to opening night
  8. 1992Casey, I'll check it out when I get back to Arizona. I'm on a family trip and bfan looks great on my netbook. Thanks for your assistance
  9. Nice game for Brewer so far...he's at .230 and creeping up! And is it just me, or does it seem like Mike Jones gives up an extremely high amount of unearned runs?
  10. I created two images, but I cannot click the images tab here at work. if you PM me your email address I'll send it and you can see it (or post it). I'm stuck in a Saturday work conference on the middle of summer break!
  11. I enjored the Lex Rutledge interview. He knows what he wants. He wants money or the education. The education is his priority unless he can be bought out of it. I also like that he has an idea about the taxes and whatnot...most never think of that. Although his numbers are a bit off. The government will take more like 35-40% of his bonus, not 24%. Most played I have experienced never reflect on things like that.
  12. igor, it's also crazy given how the Brewers last year signed roughly double the picks they previously had. There's a ton of new guys coming to R/R+. The draft makes sense with lots of OF types, given that the organization is a little weak on raw power. Additionally, we drafted so many pitchers last year that there just can't be enough room for lots this year.
  13. wow, attractive, athletic, knows sports, and is a golfer....and here I thought that eliminated all women!
  14. one thing I've noticed is that whenever a Brewer hitter checks his swing, it's called a strike (often by the homeplate ump), but when other teams check their swings, the appeals are rarely called strikes. It's probably more a result of us being a free swinging bunch
  15. I'm on my work laptop and Brewerfan.net looks awful on both Safari and Firefox. It's always been like this on this computer (since last October). It runs Leopard. Anyone with this problem?
  16. mlbtraderumors mentions Stephen Drew could be available. I'd love him as I view him as an upgrade over Hardy. Very solid defense, never gets flustered, huge power (hasn't scratched the surface yet), lefty, and OBP. I'd happily trade them Tucson-boy (Hardy) and others if we could land Drew as part of a deal
  17. He had another shoulder surgery? Before being on our AFL squad roughly 5 years ago, he'd had surgery and was considered more of a 1b/dh/c than a C
  18. The Dbacks have Haren signed for a few years. The got him in a deal that included Brett Anderson and Carlos Gonzalez, among others. For comparisons, those two are better than Taylor Green and Parra/Jeffress. I'd also be leery of acquiring anyone the A's traded away. Hudson, Mulder, Zito, and Harden are all risky players now. They were used, then left to the DL on the next team (or ineffectiveness). The only really successful pitcher post-Oakland has been Aaran Harang so far. While you could include Haren, I'm weary that he'll be falling next.
  19. I hate the jack Diamond as partner. My family always went back and forth with doubles/leasters. I like both. I like calling the ace as partner.
  20. I can't imagine the Crew would go for Webb given that he hasn't pitched this year. There'd also be zero chance of resigning him given that he'll get Sabathia-like money. I love Webb, but I don't expect it
  21. I've long thought that the 1b glass should at least have tinting. But curtains would make tons of sense!
  22. Patrick, my suggestion is to hold out for Jimmy Johns and George Webbs. In AZ we now have Culvers, but I can't find a place with George Webbs hashbrowns or Jimmy Johns' quality
  23. oops, my bad Battlekow. I posted it before in the draft forum. Didn't think to post it here
  24. The most obvious are the Padres, M's, and Giants. The Padres in part because they would also include that aforementioned backup plan--Chris Young. The M's have pitching. And my friend in the Bay Area insists he's still hearing about Sanchez and Cain being on the trade block. These three teams would also love to gain solid young players like Hardy, Hart, or Parra. The Indians and Red Sox also make some sense, although with the Indians you're talking about the Brewers adding a lot in salary.
  25. Since I can't update the draft signing thread...from brewers.com: "Two hours after the Draft concluded, Seid said that the Brewers had already signed or agreed to terms with 20 of their 53 picks. The Brewers typically make official announcements in bunches once the proper paperwork is filed, but the list of players already under contract includes third-round pick Josh Prince, a shortstop from Tulane; sixth-rounder Hiram Burgos, a right-hander from Bethune-Cookman; ninth-rounder Jonathan Pokorny, a left-hander from Kent State; and 10th-rounder Tyler Roberts, a high school catcher from Georgia. In addition, the team had come to terms with second-rounder Max Walla, a high school outfielder from Albuquerque who wowed club officials in a Miller Park workout last weekend, and was close to agreeing with another second-round pick, high school catcher Cameron Garfield.
