  1. Ender, do you think that perhaps hitting Hart 3rd might change things?
  2. Thanks Ender....most are very close except Weeks, Hart, and Hall. I've recently thought that perhaps we should continue with Weeks but move him to CF. I believe it was in an XM interview last week, they said that the Brewers were the only team convinced Rickie can be a decent 2b. Weeks compares favorably with Cameron offensively, only at a fraction of the cost (and with tremendous upside). It would allow the signing of a Durham-type for second, with Hardy at SS, Lamb at 3b, and Hall as utility. Keeping the team fairly intact should allow for a decent bump in performance next year
  3. what about Sheets as closer? Then he can go 98 mph all the time, and only have two pitches.
  4. I'd have the 25th man come down to Branyan (back and rib injuries), Escobar (pinch runner), or Nelson (lefty that drives the ball)
  5. I was thinking of heading to Buffalo Wild Wings on Scottsdale/101 for the Thursday game, along with the Sat game. Any others around?
  6. another option is that if they land a 3b (or Lamb), Hall can be the backup. I like Counsell, so I could see him signing with the Crew even if the option is declined.
  7. Ender, I like your points, but who plays if Hart sits? Gwynn? Rottino? Nelson? Branyan?
  8. I don't see Sheets on the post-season roster. Same for Kapler. It means we need OF help...Gwynn and/or Nelson?
  9. Peavey, I agree. Simply said, this feeling was worth it
  10. I can't imagine he'll be on the post-season roster. We could use an OF though
  11. "Ash confirmed that outfielder Michael Brantley has been added to the Brewers' contingent in the AFL. Brantley batted .319 in 106 games at Class AA Huntsville with four homers, 40 RBI and 28 stolen bases." from tomorrow's Journal Sentinal. Well done, as always agent39. I'd be very sorry to see Brantley, Green, or Lucroy leave. If any of them are the PTBNL, please let them know that all of Brewerfan.net nation wishes them well and is sorry to see them leave
  12. AJAY, if Nelson had played much outfield, I'd advocate him in the OF, as when he's batted, he's stung the ball. Instead, I would like Gwynn to start. I love Hart, but I think that he needs a mental break
  13. Ultimately, there's no post-season if they don't win on Monday (if it comes to that), so they pull out all the stops.
  14. Ender, that's been my point since the trade, so it's good to see others agree with it. I think a lot are looking past this. Throw in that most think he's not an east coast type person, and that he likely prefers the NL where he can hit, and it really limits the destinations. Without Boras working for him (or against him), there's a good chance that he'll likely go where he wants, not to the highest bidder
  15. I'm thinking it's Mike Lamb for next year. His obp skills would be nice. If Rottino had been good offensively in Nashville, I'd say that he could even get a look at 3b (since all the other catching prospects are bypassing him
  16. In the minors, I long praised Rickie's skillset for leadoff, when most said he'd a middle of the order guy. To me, I was very wrong. Weeks still seems hindered by the stereotypical leadoff mindset, as he looks uncertain as to when to swing at the first pitch, when to put it in play, and when to swing hard. I suggested a few weeks back that he needs to move back to the 6th or 7th spots in the lineup. Who bats leadoff? I don't know. But ultimately I don't believe it should be Weeks. As of now, I am thinking we can actually improve the club a little bit by utilizing some AA players next year. I'd love to have Escobar at SS, Hardy at 3b (unlike many SS at 3b, I like his over-the-top arm angle). I'd love to think that we can have Brantley in either center or right.
  17. Ender, Gamel is likely out for the remainder of the season with elbow issues.
  18. also, don't forget that Branyan has never been able to stay healthy whenever he has gotten the chance to play
  19. AJAY, I feel that Counsell has been far from deadweight. At the time I preferred Loretta, but Counsell has done fine for us in his role. As for Capuano, I don't think we can really blame his salary on Melvin. But with Hall, Weeks, Gagne, Riske, Tbow, and Suppan, I think we all could have seen those deals as VERY risky.
  20. we will have 4 other first rounders
  21. not sure how accurate it is, but the mlb.com gameday showed that pitch was quite high. A heck of a pitch, but it likely should have been ball 4. Of course, swinging at all the high crap didn't help
  22. endaround, I don't anticipate Weeks and Fielder with us in 2010, and right now I doubt either returns in 2009. I was figuring having 4 years of Ichiro was solid return.
  23. I like playing Durham right now. Ultimately I hope that when they play Weeks, it's hitting 5th, 6th, or 7th. I used to praise his skillset as a potential leadoff man, but I think his role might get in his head
