  1. This woot-off. I've seen nothing that is halfway decent. And the bad items are taking forever. And Woot must make a decent amount of money off those Roomba's. They seem to have them up all the time
  2. rluzinski, I actually think Vargas v. Obie is an even matchup. In Obermueller's starts, he rarely was beaten...he just beat himself by nibbling. Vargas tends to do the same thing. Both have decent enough stuff that if they threw more strikes, they'd be good pitchers. And I have a feeling Obermueller might get two hits off us tonight, too.
  3. I don't know Mass. What I noticed is that he almost seems too loose with his posture. It's kind of like his body is never at rest before the delivery. Too much looseness and motion affects a golf swing...might it affect a baseball delivery? Personally, I'd love to see more kids learn the simply mechanics of Suppan. His windup is effortless, with little excess movement.
  4. I had to read that three times to figure out what "geeked" meant. I guess I assumed it was like "punk'd". But I think in this context it means "so excited that he's bouncing off the walls", or I can think of a couple Larry the Cable Guy comments that would appropriately describe his excitement
  5. wow, it sure seems that Shouse has been bad lately. Granted, he was given a rough situation, but he's falling behind everyone, and either giving up hits or walks. I'd feel better with Thatcher or Parra in his role at this point
  6. wow...Brad, you get to interview Alex, Zach, watch Jeffress, have a kid, and experience a Woot-off...good week for you, and congrats
  7. I just read about this ambidextrous pitcher the other day, so it's a fun story. One question...there was an ambidextrous pitcher drafted 2 or 3 years ago (according to the BA draft blog at the time), yet I haven't heard anything since. I love the idea, because if a guy blows out one way, he can still be considered a prospect. I mean, a guy would need to injure both arms in order to need to go on the DL. Or he could be a starter as a righty (since he throws 94) and relieve on other days as a lefty.
  8. rough lineout for Hall. Man, bad luck
  9. The good news is that he's been pounding the strike zone. That's what I was thinking...I just want to see him have few walks. It must be nice pitching for that offense. Give up a few, and no need to worry because the offense has your back
  10. I'm up for playing on yahoo tonight
  11. I always thought it was Jeffress. I've heard him called Jeffries (as in, Jeffrey's)
  12. pick partner. Although yahoo has different rules than I used to play for when you can call a 10 or unknown
  13. I was going to make a post on the Major Leagues Thread, but I decided that this is a better place. People are frustrated now. But the key for the team is how they follow up this rough streak. 1-1 vs Braves 2-2 vs FLA 2-1 vs Cubs 2-1 at Texas 1-2 at Detroit 2-1 at Minnesota 2-1 vs SF 2-1 vs Royals 2-1 vs Astros that'd be 16-11...not great, but that's how to bounce back from this streak. Let's see if we can get to 8-10 games over .500 by the break.
  14. Both were line drives. Gwynn doesn't have an upper cut swing - he has a very level line-drive generating swing. But he hits the ball hard - just not for home runs. For the most part he has been hitting some solid liners, but he's also been hitting a lot of them where the CF, RF, 2b, and 1b never have to move. Hopefully he learns to wait back and find the gaps, or pull them more down the line.
  15. I've been curious about this as well. I would think tomorrow, as he's been up for a bunch of days so far. Although, Periard didn't follow Ramlow as usual, so I really have no idea. Could be that Alex and Jeremy are going to piggyback tomorrow
  16. Hardy doesn't strike out (he's been doing it a lot lately), yet hits into some bad luck. As for Braun...come on kid...you can't do anything with those high pitches. That's 3 or 4 K's on that same pitch now
  17. Two more...Red Dawn and Cannonball Run. My list included movies that a significant portion of my friends shake their head at, or refuse to watch. I happen to love Airplane!, but most I talk to don't care about it, and find it not funny
  18. McLendon just doesn't like giving up hits, does he?
  19. but rotoherb, Vargas is struggling to get through 4 innings, let alone 5. Bush is struggling to get through 6 innings. Can't Yo do the same as Vargas? I mean, I can't imagine Yo will allow as many baserunners and walk as many.
  20. If he's dominating a game, the Brewers would be tempted to push him to the seventh inning even if it means 115 to 120 pitches they've rarely pushed Ben Sheets, Davis, or Cappy to that many pitches over the past years, and those are older, 200 IP pitchers. They won't do it to Yo
  21. This is kind of similar to a thread from a few weeks ago, but I'll join in. Real Men Airplane! and Airplane II: The Sequal Hot Shots and Hot Shots Part Deux the Rambo movies the Police Academy films Fletch Necessary Roughness Major League 3: Back in the minors For Love of the Game (I list it, cause most of my friends hated it) almost forgot...Baseketball Beerfest
  22. we may break the mold and go with a college reliever who moves fast That'd be rather foolish, since we have decent relief prospects in AA or AAA named Capellan, Sarfate, Thatcher, Dillard, Hammond, Parra (maybe), etc. Best player available would be someone that is best for the longterm future of the team, not someone with a low ceiling
  23. Drinks are on Yo tonite, Joe. when does Yo turn 21? Otherwise he gets off cheap buying cokes
  24. thank you Mr. Thatcher. Pretty soon you can follow Mr. Gallardo into a game...in the big leagues
  25. Brian, I would ask that perhaps you have some mention of signatures in your edict. It really gets annoying that some people have quotes or comments that are not set off by italics, underlining, quotes, a line of 40-hyphens, etc. Some people have some signatures that contribute nothing to the site, and often are hard to differentiate from their posts. I can't think of who it is, but at least one person has an "absolute statement", and everytime I read it I think of Star Wars (only the Sith think in absolutes). Yet there's no way of knowing that the signature is separate from their post.
