  1. I'm guessing he's still learning to find his arm-slot with consistency. But we're seeing a much better pitcher as the year has gone on and pitch counts have been eased. Don't be surprised if he returns as a top prospect next year. As a Hawaiian prep pitcher, he didn't face the best competition, and is likely just scratching the surface.
  2. Kodi with 5 straight outings of 6+ IP Totals: 31 IP 19H 13 ER 7BB 28K 3.77 ERA
  3. On the broadcast they said Wang's velocity was up. Seeing as he was throwing 94 and touching 96 in 2014, does that mean he's upper 90's? Or is that because there were reports he was throwing around 90 last year in the minors?
  4. I can see Jungmann, Hader, or Wilkerson getting the starts. Suter seems to have earned a spot for now. My guess is Jungmann
  5. My guess is Santana is battling some injuries since he's not starting today. Kirk is probably just here for a few days
  6. I'd like Wily to get back to starting. He needs to just throw in a lower pressure situation
  7. Zimmerman is good enough historically that one can expect his numbers to rebound. Him, Nelson, and Davies as our 1-2-3 for the foreseeable future would be a great foundation.
  8. Great outing by Taylor Jungmann. Hopefully impressing Brewers officials and opposing scouting departments
  9. It should be Wilkerson or Jungmann
  10. Carolina also with 3 errors to pitch around. If they came in his innings, he may have really gotten the equivalence of 7ip on his 87 pitches (60 strikes)
  11. Broxton can be the next Mike Cameron--great D, good OBP, and power. He's young and making adjustments, but has time
  12. Stearns should be interested in continually churning our roster. good roster management means we should also not lose any Rule 5 picks. I have no problem with us trading for a guy like Verlander. He's talented and affordable (given our budget). We could probably get him fairly cheaply, then trade him and cash next year for some more valuable prospects. We have an abundance of talent, and some can be great bargaining chips
  13. I think the Brewers decided that rather than have Hader struggle in Colorado Springs, they'd rather have him learn to harness his tools and the attack hitters from the big league bullpen for the time being
  14. Given Jungmann's solid turnaround, might he be up next if Guerra's struggles continue?
  15. I agree with this. I've heard of lots of players working in the offseason to improve launch angle and spin rates. It reminds me of the 90s when all the players were flocking to creatine and gaining 20lbs in an offseason
  16. What's wrong with the golf grip? JJ Hardy has had a nice career with the golf grip.
  17. Davies is going to have a big 2nd half, get the ERA down, and challenge 20 wins. That will be huge
  18. I remember hearing from baseball folks that they were surprised with Neugy's short return. One minor league inning, then released. Given the talent, they speculated there was something else going on, such as a lack of work ethic or desire to move on. For any other talented arm like that, he would have been allowed to return slowly and given more time.
  19. He is not a free agent. That would only apply to a senior, I think. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/mlb-draft-signing-deadline-looms-but-few-surprises-expected/#R8zmdu5SJjfQ2ZZp.97
  20. Broxton will outperform Brinson for the near future. Down the road, it could be the other way
  21. While that's not surprising, what is surprising is he didn't propose moving Aguilar to catcher to get his bat in the lineup more.
  22. Haha seriously though. On another note that Fielder/Kinsler trade was terrible. That looked terrible for Texas immediately and that is exactly how it ended up. Saying Fielder played so many games the 5 previous years is picking stats to fit your argument. The guy was fat and had a body destined for failure at 30. Texas lucked out that he got so hurt he couldn't play so insured saved them. I thought it was a steal for Texas at first. They got a younger, more productive player. His 2015 was a terrific year in a dead ball era. The Rangers may have had concerns about his weight (being the heaviest MLB player ever under 6'), but they had no way of knowing his spine would give out . Most would have expected strong seasons until age 35, but injuries derailed his career
  23. I'm ok with the concept, but I think given how we're currently built to contend in a playoff series (Nelson, Anderson, Garza/Davies), I'm not in a hurry to make moves
  24. I like that we have played 3 more games than most of the division. If means teams not only have to play well to catch us, but have to do it over a longer stretch of time
