  1. If Singer, Liberatore, Winn, McClanahan, Kowar or Hankins are there, one of them have to be the pick don't they?
  2. I have had these feelings about just about every Brewer draft. A number of guys out there I want, but the Brewers always go and pick the one I don't. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
  3. I am glad some of the top end SP (Singer and Liberatore) did not go to the Reds and Pirates.
  4. Don't remind me... That was the draft where we picked Corey Ray a pick before AJ Puk.
  5. I am rooting for Shane McClanahan. Seems like a Hader or Sale type. Love LHP who can hit almost 100 MPH. The pessimist in me thinks this guy gets drafted by the Cardinals right before us and we spend the next 15 years getting dominated by him. Please be wrong
  6. I was at the Angel-Ranger game last night. Was Albert Pujols 3000 hit bobblehead night and ceremony. While I “despised” him as a Cardinal, and yes he still watches his home runs longer than any human alive, he really does seem to be a good guy off the field. Read a lot about his work with Down syndrome children (I believe he has one). A lesson we all have to learn is that we can “hate” rivals on the field, but like them for what they do off it.
  7. I'd do both without really thinking twice. Shores up big roster holes with long-term solutions. Prospects are replaceable. This is the key for Stearns making deals this season. The Machados of the world can go to the major markets. Adding long term, cost-controlled players like Archer and Realmuto to the core of Yelich, Cain, Shaw, Arcia (hopefully) makes all the sense in the world for this market.
  8. I just said I don't think I would do Hiura for Archer in the Chris Archer thread but I could definitely get behind something like this if the package was limited to Hiura and didn't include Burnes. I would prefer to substitute Santana for Phillips, as I believe Phillips is the perfect 4th OF now and a good RF once Braun no longer is an everyday player. Realmuto trade...in a heartbeat.
  9. This. I don't want the Brewers to get into a bidding war with the major markets to trade for a player who likely will be gone after 2018 and who I wouldn't want the Brewers to spend $30+ million annually on.
  10. I would still like a TOR SP as I have legitimate concerns about Anderson lining up as the Brewers #1 in a playoff series with the likes of Scherzer, Kershaw, Greinke, de Grom, Syndergaard, Quintana (against the Brewers at least), Carlos Martinez all playing for contenders. While I definitely wanted him over the offseason, I have questions as to: 1. Whether or not Archer that guy 2. Tampa's price to trade him I would love him but not at the cost of Burnes or Hiura. I may be willing to sell high on Peralta but I would have to really think about it.
  11. Perez with just a stupid decision to flip it to second rather than take the slow moving Wacha.
  12. I always thought of Brinson's ceiling being Mike Cameron, an elite CF who would hit around .250 with 20-25 HR and 20-25 SB. I will be rooting for him from a distance as Christian Yelich is worth parting with the potential of a Mike Cameron, who ironically I see as Monte Harrison's ceiling as well. Will definitely be pulling for the Marlins in the future if their OF consists of Harrison and Brinson.
  13. I hadn't thought of this but yes...I would rather have JJ than Sogard and JJ has been awful on O since 2014.
  14. I am no Bandy fan, but I'm not losing any sleep over missing out on Drew Gagnon or the privilege of paying Martin Maldonado $4M dollars. $4 million is a lot for an elite defensive catcher I agree. However, given the salary situation on the roster right now, Maldonado would be "affordable" for 2018.
  15. I know he has been awful this season but I would love to acquire Danny Duffy (at a discount). Give Derek Johnson some time with him and perhaps the Brewers can turn him around. Given the contract, maybe a Trent Grisham and Troy Stokes package.
  16. Arcia certainly needs time to figure out his hitting. I totally agree with this move now especially while Saladino is hitting. The larger issue I will have with this is the all but certainty of more days than necessary when CC finds the need to start Sogard at SS and Perez at 2B. Both of these guys are 25th guys on a roster and I am certain we will see them in tandem which will cause an awful bottom of the lineup with: 6. Perez 7. Pina 8. Sogard 9. Pitcher.
  17. While the Brewers were rebuilding when the move was made, Martin Maldonado for Jett Bandy deal was definitely a miss by Stearns.
  18. While I love the concept of acquiring Machado, I cannot fathom the Brewers paying the price it will take in players and prospects, let alone the cost it would take to retain him. Even if the Brewers were able to re-sign him, allocating $30-$35 million annually to one player makes no sense in the small market the Brewers play in. Add in the fact that the Brewers likely would have to move Arcia, Phillips and Woodruff/Burnes to acquire him and it becomes evident that Machado to Milwaukee isn't going to happen.
  19. This is an overlooked and excellent point about the current roster. Well done Adam.
  20. Maybe the Yankees will trade the Brewers Neil Walker if they fill their soda machines for the rest of the season.
  21. Nick Franklin coming up! Woah Solvdd
  22. Regardless of team or rival, it's awesome to see genuine care from Joe Maddon immediately getting out there and holding up Bryant. Glad he appears to be OK.
  23. Crazy stat... In 26 ABs, Yelich has more doubles (2), HR (1) and RBI (5) than Brinson, Harrison and Diaz combined in 116 ABs (1 double, 0 HR, 2 RBI).
