  1. https://www.si.com/mlb/2017/09/20/pat-neshek-zack-greinke-autograph-rockies-diamondbacks-turd Social anxiety is definitely no laughing matter but things like this rub me the wrong way. Its a peer and you're seemingly douchey for the sake of being douchey here. Back on point, I would prefer keeping that personality out of the already tight knit locker room.
  2. To me, it is apparent that Darvish is waiting on something else to occur before signing. This to me screams, the Dodgers and them trying to clear payroll to sign him. If it were the Cubs, Rangers or Twins, his signing should have been completed by now. Darvish certainly won't wait forever, but I firmly believe he is a Dodger if they can clear payroll. This will drag out until the very last second.
  3. No, this is somewhat what I've been debating the whole time. I'd prefer to sign one via free agency and ship Santana off for a more "even" deal or maybe even prospects. I tend to agree with this but this leaves the Brewers with the 4 starting OF conundrum and likely signing Arrieta as your TOR pitcher as Darvish is waiting for the Dodgers. Perhaps the Brewers look at dealing Santana for Salazar AND signing Arrieta. Arietta Anderson Salazar Davies Woodruff/Chacin Nelson and Salazar under contract through 2020 season. Anderson and Davies through 2021. With Woodruff, Burnes, Ortiz still coming, our $100 million SP (Arrieta) serves as insurance in the event of injury (Nelson or Salazar even) or poor performance. Not necessarily advocating for Arrieta but I am concerned about Nelson having a lost 2018 regardless of progress to date and this team is ready to win now.
  4. I have literally zero interest in Greinke. Not only do I think the Diamondbacks will want close to full value given his pitching results last year, I also don’t like his personality in the Brewers locker room. Keep in mind this team was apparently very close last year and inserting someone with the personality of Greinke, who is at best awkward and at worst divisive, could prove challenging. I’d rather not make a move than see him back in Milwaukee.
  5. Chris Archer has been my #1 SP target all offseason however I believe the cost to get him will not be worth the loss of prospect depth to do so. At this point, I am not comfortable trading one of our top 3 SP prospects other than Ortiz and I believe the Rays would be asking for both Wopdruff and Burnes in an Archer deal. If the Rays would do Santana, Ortiz and say Ray then sure I do that deal but I doubt that comes close to getting it done. Count me firmly in the camp of acquiring Salazar (or equivalent) for Domingo, put Phillips as your #4 OF and use whatever is left of the budget to sign Neil Walker and/or Jonathan Lucroy.
  6. Not even close. If Archer is coming to Milwaukee, Santana plus likely at least one top 100 prospect are going to Tampa Bay. I'd do Santana and Broxton for Archer in a heartbeat. I'd think about Santana and Woodruff, but that would be tough. If they need a starter, I'd much rather trade one of our higher upside guys in the lower minors. I have a feeling Woodruff is going to be very valuable and needed this year, and in years to come. I would do Santana and Ortiz in a heartbeat. I just don't think that is enough. If I were to give a guess about the actual cost, it would start with Santana and Burnes and probably need to include a Freddy Peralta type as well. That is a lot, but the farm should be able to be rebuilt while the Brewers have so many players on the roster that are controlled through the next 5 years. Not advocating that trade, but the Brewers are using the farm to target controllable players which I believe is a GREAT strategy.
  7. Not for Cleveland. While I agree this trade is not likely given Santana for Salazar alone if pretty equal, I do believe that Cleveland is likely needing to go all in this year given Andrew Miller, Cody Allen, Michael Brantley are FAs after the season, Jay Bruce and Carlos Santana are already gone, Jason Kipnis has been hurt and Encarnacion, Carrasco and Kluber can be FAs after 2019. Trading for Santana makes a ton of sense.
  8. Santana would have been worked into the original deal if the Marlins wanted him. They knew he was available. Absolutely. I am only mentioning that I would be willing to deal Santana for a solid/potentially elite RP and a top 100 prospect regardless of position.
  9. If we’re committed to spending serious money on a SP, I would rather save the farm and overpay Arrieta. Trading anything of value for Greinke when Arrieta is free allows you to move those pieces for other needs (RP).
  10. How about Domingo for Monte Harrison and Kyle Barraclough? I know it’s not likely but still pretty fair. Essentially trade Domingo, Brinson, Diaz, Yamamoto for Yelich and Barraclough
  11. I too wonder if they are just going to roll with Villar/Sogard/Perez at 2B. Honestly if we keep Santana our offense is going to be pretty sweet and those three guys should be passable. It also allows you to see if Villar can bounce back. Which I think he can with the talent he has...may not do it, but certainly the type of guy to do it. I just don't see Lucroy though. Pina/Vogt aren't that bad(were a decent duo last year actually) and I just cannot see Lucroy coming here to split time. We have been talking about regression candidates all offseason and Piña has always been my biggest concern. His D will always play but his O may have peaked in 2017. If he regresses to say a .230 average, does he still warrant an everyday role? Vogt, Susac and Bandy are uninspiring. While Lucroy may have fallen off a little, I would be comfortable bringing him back on a 2 year $16 million deal and give him 100-110 games and Piña 50-60. As for 1B, at this point in his career, I would want him fresh and give him his days off.
  12. While the focus remains on SP I wonder if they have moved on from Neil Walker now. Found it interesting that in a McCalvy article after the Yelich and Cain acquisitions that he mentioned Lucroy.
  13. Correct. Additionally his D is considered fair at best. I've seen too many posts suggesting he is best as a DH on the field. One more aspect is the cost /'value' of power is cheaper now then at times in the past (note the record number of players with 20 or more homers last season). Another overlooked point of that proposal: Cleveland would be sending Mejia to a division rival (Detroit), not onto Milwaukee. Inter-division deals always seem to have additional cost involved. Other posters have pointed out/ referenced that Brinson & Mejia were extremely close in the prospect rankings. Some rankings had Brinson ahead, others had Mejia ahead. Bottom line those guys are close in value. I am NOT suggesting DSantana has low/ zero value. He has value. Its just not super high. Look at it this way, Is DSantana & a throw in worth Brinson (between now & the start of spring training 2018)? I don't think so unless the throw in has a lot of value (& really shouldn't be called a throw in). Here is the challenge. Are you willing to bet that Brinson has a 30-15 season in him like Santana just had in his age 25 season? If given the choice between the two, given their closeness in age (~2 Years), I think I might prefer Domingo.
  14. I would deal Broxton for Corbin but that’s about the extent given Corbin is a FA after 2018.
  15. While I would love to add Chris Archer, Marcus Stroman or Michael Fulmer, I fear the cost of doing so would be prohibitive. Domingo Santana I am good with moving but I would imagine that they would need to add two of Luis Ortiz, Corbin Burnes or Brandon Woodruff. That’s a ton and leaves SP on the farm rather barren. I would be ok with moving another OF, preferably Broxton, but I doubt a package of Santana, Broxton and an SP not named Ortiz/Woodruff/Burnes gets you Archer, Stroman or Fullmer.
  16. Interesting thought... I assume Stearns and FO are weighing the possibility of the DH being implemented in the NL in 2019. I don’t know if this needs to wait until the next collective bargaining agreement but this might be a reason to hold Domingo. Imagine 2019 where the Brewers could put out a lineup of: Cain CF Yelich LF Braun DH Shaw 3B Santana RF Thames 1B Pina C Walker/Villar 2B Arcia SS
  17. What do we have to add?
  18. Phillips is the perfect 4th OF. I would love him to stay but if he is needed to get Archer then sadly I say good bye.
  19. What is this?! https://twitter.com/CyrtHogg/status/956698613857611776 Just mean to make my heart stop!
  20. Santana, Phillips and Woodruff for Archer?
  21. Santana and Phillips as centerpieces to Tampa Bay for Archer?
  22. Brewers lose their 3rd round pick, #73, for signing Cain.
  23. Holy Lord what a day!! Where is Domingo going? Please oh please oh please to Tampa Bay for Archer.
