  1. What I want to see: -Darvish signed -Walker signed -Lucroy signed What I expect to see: -Cain signed -Santana traded
  2. Oh man...Domingo will be on the move quickly for SP after that. On base machines to top the lineup. Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Thames
  3. This trade tells me that the Brewers are confident in their ability to sign an SP. They gave up such a large amount of prospect capital, they must have something else brewing on the FA market. Perhaps this is why Darvish was asking questions about the Brewers long term financial situation?
  4. I like Brinson a lot but his ceiling is what Yelich is already. Make the move.
  5. Most of the baseball writers have been silent on Twitter today...the anticipation of moves is killing me.
  6. Assuming he isn't dealt, I imagine Dubon eventually will replace Perez as the super utility guy, perhaps by the end of 2018.
  7. No, you don't have that right. Schwarber and Russell DID regress. Santana, Shaw etc...have NOT regressed as of yet.
  8. I suspect they intended to use some of their excess of position player talent to trade for a starter, but found nobody as interested in those players as they expected. They missed their chance last offseason to sell high on schwarber, I think there's a good chance his bat rebounds but he's still a butcher at any position he plays and really should be DH'ing. I could have seen them trying to trade Happ, Almora, or Caratini but maybe other teams didn't have a ton of interest. I doubt they'd even consider trading Baez or Russell unless it was for someone like Chris Sale, and I don't think Archer qualifies. Where they really missed was the idea they could acquire a TOR for Russell/Baez and Schwarber. That combo doesn't get you a Stroman or Archer at this point. Crazy how one year makes such a huge difference and feeds into those wanting to sell high on Santana, Shaw, etc...
  9. HighHeat said Darvish isnt coming to Milwaukee... And Archer has been he'll be a Ray in 2018. Not saying HH19 is wrong at all but that was 2-3 days ago and there has been no announcement. I can't imagine Rosenthal or anyone hasn't been able to scoop it if some front office knew 2-3 days ago.
  10. You are correct. I meant to add Arrieta and Yelich as well. Regardless, I think the Brewers are adding an OF and an SP, one via trade and one via FA.
  11. Topic being discussed on MLB Network Radio about whether Archer is being dealt. Got me thinking about the scenarios surrounding the Brewers... Is it possible the Brewers are waiting on Darvish's decision before deciding which way they go? If Darvish chooses Milwaukee, they pull the trigger on a deal for Yelich. If Darvish chooses somewhere else, they pull the trigger on a deal for Archer and then sign Cain. Who would you rather have all things being equal Darvish and Yelich or Archer and Cain? For me, it's Darvish and Yelich all day.
  12. Perez is great as the 25th man on the roster and defensive substitution. Anything more than that is not a winning formula.
  13. No inside information or anything but I have the feeling that today will be the day of activity. Enough time to get the new Brewers to On Deck event.
  14. The proposal of Arcia+Harrison+Woodruff/Burnes is richer than anything any of us has proposed. If Arcia is included, I would anticipate maybe Arcia, Harrison and Supak/Ponce but certainly not the cream of the crop SP. Even now I have a hard time believing a cream of the crop OF would also be included. With Arcia in the mix, I would anticipate the deal being something more like Arcia+Ray+take your pick of an SP not named Ortiz/Woodruff/Burnes.
  15. HH19 I want to believe you my brother. Yelich just happens to be one of my favorite non-Brewers so you literally got some of my biggest hopes up. Not trying to doubt you at all. Just hopes are up.
  16. HH has been eerily quiet on the matter. I want to believe his sources. I really do.
  17. Wasn't it mentioned by HH19 in either this thread or the Yelich thread, the Brewers were waiting to make deals with FA or trades until the sausage sponsorship was completed? LET'S GO!
  18. This is exactly what I said. I never said Arcia is Escobar. I said he's much closer to Escobar (a basically replacement level SS) than he is to a cornerstone player (A Lindor, Correa, Seager, Machado if he played SS), like was mentioned that caused me to post what I did in the first place. Do I think Arcia is as bad as Escobar? No. Do I think he'll be as good as Lindor, Correa, Seager etc.? No. Do I think he can improve? Yes. Do I think he's closer to Escobar than he is to franchise caliber shortstops? Yes. Andrelton Simmons is a better comp to Arcia than Escobar is. Elvis Andrus is also another player who is closer to Arcia than Escobar. Agreed. Simmons is always the guy I thought Arcia could turn into. Just looking at their offense from last season and keeping in mind Arcia was 22 and Simmons was 27: Arcia: .277/.324/.731 15 HR 53 RBI Simmons: .278/.331/.752 14 HR 69 RBI Not bad if Arcia can pick up that D a little.
  19. Now that everyone is talking about the HOF class, isn't it time for the Marlins to announce they have dealt Christian Yelich to the Milwaukee Brewers for Keon Broxton, Mauricio Dubon and Cody Ponce? *crosses fingers blue print turns to black*
  20. Agreed but i doubt anything is announced today, Yelich trade or any major signing, givne the HOF announcement.
  21. Excellent breakdown of the reality of the Yelich situation. This makes a ton of sense about the teams in the mix.
  22. Starting to feel like this all may be much ado about nothing. I hope not because I truly value Yelich and think he is potentially a Top 20 offensive talent in MLB, but I won't be devastated if the Brewers move on if they feel they are being jerked around by the Marlins FO.
  23. You literally said it. 100 losses, scorched earth, top 3 at minimum draft picks, huge bonus pools. Is it guaranteed to work? No. But at least I'm giving myself a shot at 5-8 WAR players making nothing (relatively) for the first few years of their careers so I don't have to go out and trade all of my prospects to get these guys. I said it last night. After the 27th out was made in game 162 I would've been shopping Knebel, Santana, Shaw, Anderson, probably not Nelson because he's hurt and has no value, maybe Davies etc. Doesn't mean I'd trade them but if I was blown away with an offer, you bet I would take it. I think they all overachieved last year and are due for regression and they're not really core players anyways, so you can always flip guys like that for prospects and have other prospects fill their spots. So this team isn't built to compete as currently constituted and the Brewers should continue to stack prospects? What about the 40 man roster crunch? What about rushing players to MLB when they aren't ready, impacting development? While I understand the idea of regression when does simple maturation in the case of Shaw, Anderson, Santana and Davies occur and not have it be a career year? What happens if they all replicate 2017? Doesn't that make their value even more in 2019?
  24. Okay? And when his BABIP drops to .330 (or worse) which causes his offense to go to crap, what's his WAR going to be? This is exactly the overachieving I'm talking about. Care to share your plan for improving the Brewers moving forward? I understand you would prefer years of 100 loss seasons and that the 86 win season was the worst thing to happen to the franchise. I hear a lot of negativity and cynicism in your posts without a real plan of success (which isn't guaranteed with top 3 picks for multiple years).
