  1. May be a better topic for off topic, but will post here to start because it ties into the way the Major League Rosters look today... What are everyone's thoughts on people who wear personalized Brewers jerseys, meaning they put their own last name on the jersey? Now in the past I really didn't have much of an opinion but as I get a little older I have begun to understand this more and more. Your own name on a jersey, while you don't play for the team or really have any affiliation other than being a fan, will never not be current as long as you are a fan of the team. Additionally, fans never know when a fan favorite who signed a long term deal with the team might be traded like Matt Kemp or leave via free agency like Prince Fielder. Buy a Carlos Gomez jersey today? What happens if the Brewers collapse and a fire sale happens around the deadline and Gomez is dealt? Also, you never know if the jersey of the player you bought might do something in their personal life you don't agree with like Ryan Braun and throwing the collector under the bus, and now you're stuck with a jersey you won't wear. I guess as I get older I struggle to want to spend $200+ to buy an authentic jersey of a current Brewer who may or may not be there for long and/or may do something in their personal life I don't support. So why not spend the $200 and get a personalized jersey that will never go out of style?
  2. http://m.yourwestvalley.com/peoria/article_555a2044-c79d-11e4-84cf-4b09e9241cb0.html?mode=jqm Looks like the Brewers candidate won...will be interesting to see what will happen next in Peoria.
  3. Good Lord what a cluster...it's unbelievable what has occurred with Brewer 1B since Fielder left. Hart hurt. Gamel hurt. Yuni B. Alex Gonzalez. Hunter Morris falling apart. Overbay/Reynolds and now Lind. You can't prevent the injuries from occurring but you can prevent the Yuni B., Gonzalez and now, the Parra situations of the world. Like others have said, why don't we just use a 1B at 1B? Clark, while no world beater, pencils in just fine as a #7 hitter if Lind can't play.
  4. Record: -84-78 Playoffs: -No MVP: -Braun (has #s similar to 2010 season (.304/.365/.866, 25 HR, 103 RBI) Surprises: -Fiers pitches well to a tune of 3.40 ERA, 1.15 WHIP -Davis raises his AVG into the mid to high .260s and hits 30 HR -Segura doesn't return to All Star form but hits .275 with 30 SB Disappointment: -Lohse shows signs of age. ERA ends up over 4. -Lind isn't anything more than a stopgap and is injury plagued (Sean Berry clone) -Ramirez shows why this is his last season as he hits in the .260s with 10-15 HR All stars: Braun, Gomez, Lucroy Bold prediction: -Division has all 5 teams finish with 80+ wins
  5. Baseball Reference has Jimenez listed at 6'1"...after standing near him on Saturday I cannot imagine he is even 5'11". If he is the backup at 1B, the Brewers IF better not sail any balls as it will be a challenge to come down with them.
  6. Go Binsbacher...if for no other reason than to keep the Brewers in Arizona and out of Maryvale.
  7. Was at the Brewers-Rangers game on Saturday and despite the fight that almost occurred between a 40-ish year old couple and a 60-ish year old couple, both Brewer fans by the way, I managed to find a new player to root for. As he was walking off the field after being removed mid-game, Luis Jimenez walked by the stands and unprovoked reached into his bag and handed a bat to a kid standing on the rail. It was an awesome gesture by Jimenez and was completely done on his own as the kid wasn't asking for anything. I can root for guys like that...
  8. Parra's two Gold Gloves say hello. Derek Jeter had 5 gold gloves and he was average at best at his position, this really doesn't mean much. Parra may be above average but he certainly isn't 'gold glove caliber'. Really? Gerardo Parra isn't living off of his offensive reputation to win Gold Gloves like Jeter (3 out of 20 seasons with a dWAR above 0 according to Baseball Reference). Nor is he a household name. A season of 4 WAR in the OF in 2013 is pretty impressive regardless.
  9. It's a prospect for prospect type of deal that I wouldn't mind parting with Sardinas for. Without knowing their system, with the White Sox starting an older Alexei Ramirez at SS and Micah Johnson at 2B, one would have to wonder if they would like to deal for Sardinas and if they would be willing to part with a young 3B like Davidson to do so. Worth investigating.
  10. I don't like this one bit. Parra is likely to be gone after this year unless the Brewers decide to move Gomez for some reason. Davis is the present and future in LF and he needs daily ABs. Based on his results to date, over a 162 game schedule, he projects to be a .251/.311/.487 27 HR 78 RBI guy. For dirt cheap, this production needs to be in the Brewer lineup on a daily basis. Hate everything about this.
  11. I honestly think this will be the Brewers middle IF moving forward unless they get some type of trade offer they cannot refuse for one or until Arcia pushes one of them out. With Scooter's struggles against LHP and Segura's all around struggles, it makes sense to have a super utility like Sardinas to spell them. In a way it reminds me of the 90s when the Brewers had Vina, Valentin and Loretta for SS and 2B. None of the three is the answer at 3B for any amount of time IMO.
  12. Derek Jeter & Paul Konerko last season
  13. The current colors with ball & glove would be awesome. I've seen it suggested on this forum before and I fully agree, I wish they'd do this. To me, it's the uniform and the gold not the logo. The M with barley and ball and glove are both great logos. If the Brewers were to keep the current set, I just wish they would lose the clunky Brewers cursive on the front and replace it with a M with barley over the heart like the Yankees NY. That cursive drives me nuts as the angle of Brewers varies as it goes across the chest from uniform to uniform.
  14. Plus Lara was only 16 when he signed in in July 2014. http://www.baseballamerica.com/international/5-international-prospect-gilbert-lara/ Unless he is a truly special talent, I doubt he will be in the Majors at 18 in 2016.
  15. It's Khris Davis from Spring Training last year.
  16. Amen to this... The area around Maryvale is terrible in general but especially so when compared to where the Dodgers, White Sox, Royals, Rangers, Reds, Indians, Giants, Mariners, Padres, Rockies and Diamondbacks all play (not sure about Mesa and where the new Cubs park is and where the A's play). I would rather go to any of those stadiums rather than Maryvale.
  17. Personally, I think the current jerseys are that, especially the home ones. I usually agree with a lot of what you say Invader, but I just plain disagree with you on this one. The M with barley logo is solid, but everything about the uniforms and secondary logos with the current set are just so...uninspiring.
  18. Of course the Cardinals have to take first in even this. Nothing special about their uniforms. While I do like the bird on the bat, overall they are just meh and red like most of the rest of baseball. Yeah I hated that too... For me, I just like the basics of a road gray and home white with an alternate for home and road thrown in once or twice a month. Honestly, just wish the Brewers, and the Bucks for that matter, had a timeless look like the Yankees or Dodgers do. At least we have the Packers.
  19. http://m.brewers.mlb.com/news/article/110550514/owner-mark-attanasio-addresses-brewers-emphasizes-confidence Attanasio addresses potential future Spring Training facilities in both Arizona and (God no) Florida.
  20. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/12374140/uni-watch-power-rankings-rates-mlb-uniforms-1-30 Seems like the Brewers current uniforms are consistently in the bottom 5 in uniform rankings such as these.
  21. Is it safe to say that the Papelbon rumors are now officially dead with signing of K-Rod? I have zero interest in acquiring him now but I wonder if the Brewers still have any interest in going after Papelbon.
  22. Oh man... Brewers definitely dodged a bullet by not signing him but let's hope this isn't a drug relapse because that would just plain stink.
  23. Chris Perez of the career 3.51 ERA/4.23 FIP/1.23 WHIP in 379 IP. Sounds eerily similar to a line of another reliever we know that has posted a 3.40 ERA/3.43 WHIP/1.34 WHIP in 328 IP...John Axford. Am I saying that he is the new Axford? No. However, I am definitely tempering my expectations when it comes to Perez. I would love for him to come in and be lights out, but I am not holding out any hope that he is going to be anything more than a run of the mill bullpen arm.
  24. After watching the Royals small ball their way to the World Series, I am not as concerned about power. Post-Ramirez the Brewers will still have 20+ HR potential in RF (Braun), CF (Gomez), LF (Davis), 1B (Lind) and 10-15 HR potential at SS (Segura), 2B (Scooter) and C (Lucroy). Certainly not the days of Weeks-Braun-Fielder-Hart but the lineup is not without some thump. I think the ideal focus for the Brewers moving forward will be the focus on acquiring high AVG/OBP hitters to replace players that move on. In my most realistic scenario moving forward: 1. Post-2015 the Brewers move out Ramirez and replace him with a hitter whose main focus is how to get on base 2. Braun returns to at least something between his career average of .306/.368 and his 2014 of .266/.324 (essentially .286/.346) 3. Lucroy hits to his career average of .285/.343 4. Gomez hits to his 2012-2014 average of .277/.336 Moving forward, replacements in the everyday lineup don't need to necessarily be a .290/.360 OBP hitter, although that would be preferred. They do however need be a little better in terms of OBP than what Scooter was in 2014 (.289/.320) if the Brewers plan to move forward with hitters like Davis (.244/.289) and Segura (.246/.289) as everyday players. My focus moving forward would be to identify players that are high AVG/OBP guys and focus on leading the NL in OBP.
